How Dawntrail Will Effect the Early Game of FFXIV



Just getting into the game? Maybe you’re a trial player? Or perhaps an old content sync enjoyer. Think Dawntrail won’t effect you? WRONG! Dawntrail has a lot that’s going to effect players of all levels and I’m here to get you prepared for the inevitable. So take a load off even if you aren’t at the point to take the vacation to the New World and let me help you point out what you should expect in the upcoming expansion.

  1. Just some things I missed:
    Dark Knight's Blood weapon is getting combined with Delirium. Good change as basically they were only pressed at the same time anyway, though not good news for Gposers.

    Monk during Brotherhood will be able to stack an additional 5 Chakra so that you are less likely to over cap (very nice).

    @eds7756 pointed out that there will be an updated visual queue for fights. There will be red glow signifier when boss fight messages appear to make them more easy to notice. If anyone has done Shinryu extreme then you will know what I am talking about.

    According to @tonyike8451 umbral ice phase MP generation will be determine the MP generation of ice spells. So basically all spells will generate the same amount of MP. So if you have three stacks of Umbral Ice any spell will be a full MP regain. So basically it won't affect BLM rotation at all, and might increase BLM damage over all.

    Let me know of any more changes and I'll add them here!

  2. Maybe it's just be but I am getting pretty sick and tired of staring at my own and the enemies' statuses, so I'm really happy with the monk change. Like it's all and good on like non stress fights, but anytime I have to power up the braincells my rotation goes to absolute crap. Like I don't mess it up with Sam because I have the visual stickers telling me which part of my rotation I am in so Monk getting that new gauge is going to be great! Just my opinion.

  3. Not sure if this is added to the early game, but there is a new visual aid for fights. You know sometimes there is a message that'll appear to let you know about an upcoming mechanic? Yeah me neither, because they are so easily missed. Well now there is an new visual with like a red glow that will accompany it to help people notice it better. Still not sure if I'll be noticing them, but with the combo condensing maybe I will be able to pay more attention to what's happening on screen instead of my hotbar.

  4. The glasses options being limited to the fashion accessories is really disappointing. I like to use the elegant rimless glasses (as they are the only good looking pair on my character imo) on my crafting and scholar glams and was hoping I could actually use them on my other ones. Shame. Hope they eventually add all the glasses models to the slot.

  5. i was really hopeing that if nothing else we would get a better leveling experience for summoner in dt. the job is already feels undercooked at max level and the fact that you dont get the only fun job mechanic until level 86 is astounding to me lol. and then not getting our elemental rite upgrades until lvl 80 so were essentially spamming ruin from 1-80 is so stupid. not even mentioning that even using some of the egi spells is a dps loss over just normal ruin 3 spam is crazy. i cant imaging starting this job from arr to EW without a job boost because omg lol. but at least were getting an upgrade to fester in dt right, every summoners favorite ability lol😂

  6. I just finished the 3.0 MSQ a few days ago. I have been working on leveling Monk to play through the Stormblood MSQ, so I hope the changes don't throw me off to much. But if the new rotation is simpler with less timer management, I probably don't need to worry too much.

  7. You probably wouldn't notice why Brd's inability to use songs without a target is such a pain in the ass unless you did savage/ultimate. Those fights have a lot more forced downtime phases compared to casual content and it makes brd song management really awkward

  8. Hey OJosama after summer I am officially purchasing Final Fantasy 14. I have been on the free trial since 2021 an can't wait to try Dawntrail along with the other expansions!

  9. I am pretty sure they are adding a multi target trick attack styled attack for ninja. However I am not sure at what level it will be implemented. It would be dumb if you didn’t get it at the same level that you unlock your final sign, because yeah Huton will be absolutely useless until you get that ability, unless for some reason it’s damage it super good which I doubt.

  10. Honestly as a pc controller player the combo thing is the thing I’m most excited for, I like being able to condense some with limited buttons I can use and I noticed no problem with it in pvp already

  11. Black mage mp is based on which level of umbra ice you are in when you cast an ice spell or umbra soul. At 3 stacks you generate Max MP for 1 ice spell so blm won't be a problem
