  1. mmoRPG ppl froget most ppl didnt do eureka or bozja that becuase ffxiv is rpg first and mmo second and most ppl who like ffxiv understand that.Casual who do eureka or bozja are no longer causals they become midcores if you wanna grind and waste a tone of time in content that not what casuals do that what midcore players do.

  2. The relics really killed retention this time around. I know they made it easier because people didn't want to 'grind', but it's more of the player not knowing what they want. The old old relics from ARR and HW kept geared players playing in content from the previous expansion to keep it alive and interacting with newer players. Was it grindy? Yes, but also not as terribly so as you'd think. There were multiple dungeons/areas with their own goals to work towards you could swap between, rather than grinding the same 3-5 dungeons over and over.(There were also way more dungeons than there are these days per expansion.) The grind was from how many steps/activities had to be completed rather than one continuous repetitive task. If players are that worried about the 'grind' for multiple jobs, then sure, force it on the first set, then make each other set purchasable with tomes like they are now.

From a development perspective, I can see why they've cut the number of dungeons per patch/expansion, and also why they would focus resources on revamping the graphics/code for the new expansion over a new separate area like bozja and eureka, but creating a few simple quests to push players back to the ShB or even SB areas would be a major help. Maybe they think the freebie players are helping the old content stay populated, but there's still that gap from SB to EW that has dried up and could use a boost. (Which would also help alleviate as much necessity for the solo dungeon features.)

  3. The global pandemic has calmed down so people are going outside again. That's a huge thing.

Lack of Aspiration content could have been mitigated by attaching relics to criterion dungeons in the duty finder. Especially because it could have been objective-based… doing specific routes of said dungeons.

We also think they need to rework Data Center travel quite a bit. The big part being that… everyone in NA who does hardcore content has coalesced in Aether, all the RP has moved to Primal, and Crystal is fucking *dead*. It really centralised everything.

  4. I enjoyed mnimaxing and using busted actions in Bozja and Eureka to farm clusters and whatever items you needed for the relics. The social aspect of these zones were also a huge reason to jump in and make some progress on the relics.

There's no "fun" or "fresh" way to get the relic this expansion. It's just simply doing content that already exists for tomes. Content that doesn't require any social interaction. I mainly focus only savage raids these days, which don't even reward the tomes that go towards the relic mats.

  5. Great if you happen to be at the moment of the expansion.
Not so great if you are trying to get the relic AFTER the expansion. As the area will be DEAD.

There is also the ELITISM created near the end of the expansion. It brought the worst in people.

  6. It's clear they really stepped back after finishing Endwalker to work on FF16. They may claim otherwise but you cannot deny if Yoshi-P leadership is focused on a different game, FF14 will not be at it's best. Gameplay has never been easier due to maximising quality of life and reworks, but it makes clearing content too easy. The extra content they've added is solved and ignored. PvP rework and crystalline conflict was nice but PvP will always be niche in FF14. There are loads of good games worth playing right now to distract players away. No real long term grinds, people will fade away once they have their goals.

  7. It has ben said time and time and time again. Ff14 is a Final Fantasy game first before and MMO.

People complained bozja was grindy, now SE gave an easy relic series people still complain. Make up your mind people!
