I tried FF 14 Online, was not a great experience.. first no warning that free account stops when you buy anything; second the community is toxic, no help and bash new players; Third the game crashed after I purchased the expanison pack and support would not help fix the issue or refund money…
Very wholesome and informative channel! 🙂
I live in Europe and play on Arkenstone and never really experienced any of the lagg in LOTRO people are talking about.🙂
Totally agree. Let's breathe some freshness into the game! Thank you for the positivity, it is great to hear.
1. I think I disagree with the main quests-only leveling idea. Side quests in LOTRO are at least 1/2 to 3/4 as important to the experience as the Epic quests.
One, they get you on-level with the Epic easily, or even over-level if you take too many.
Two, they allow players to slow down or take a different route and ignore the Epic for a while, especially when the Epic can only take you on a certain route while there are several level overlaps in the different regions.
Three, the side quests are part of the world and often of the Epic itself—they allow you to get insight of or get involved with what other NPCs are doing or are worried about, and often they coincide with what's happening in the Epic.
Four, gameplay-wise, side quests contribute to Deeds, and completing Deeds are often helpful and satisfactory. You could say side quests and deeds make LOTRO a completionist's MMO. It's part of why LOTRO is deemed a slow-paced MMO, on top of the sheer travel distance and the level cap, and some people like it for that. Some people may dislike it for that, but also, one can always not take side some side quests and just stay on-level with the Epic and pick up the pace that way.
At least that's my take on it.
2 and 3 are largely related to budget and human resources. As far as I know, the whole of the LOTRO team plays the game, though I can't say how much they do. The lag, unfortunately, is a much deeper tech problem, from what I've heard people say. And according to the executive producer, it's also largely a client problem which they've been and will continue looking into. I hope they finally get to the bottom of it soon, though it's probably gonna take a long time still.
Anyway, some well-made videos/content, man. I appreciate the good vibes as well. Congrats on the well-deserved success~
FF 14 is also using a much newer engine than Lotro is, and you can't simply change an engine out without messing something up in the process.
they must need better advertizment cause i never even herd of this game before
I think I have watched a few of your videos now that I have comeback to LotRO since 2010. I think I fundamentally disagree with you when you bring up "end game"
For me, leveling is what LotRO is about. I have no desire to rush through to do raids and I just want to be immersed in Tolkien's universe. I think they do a great job (thus far) keeping you invested in their zones as you work your way through the main story.
Hey, i recently found this channel, and i must say, that I was shocked, with such small subscribers for such high quality videos. Hope you will continue to create new videos for LOTRO, specially now, when LOTRO, have a huge numbers of new players. Good luck!
I am still surprised why ffxiv is so popular. I mean long-ass quests, painful questlines that are mandatory. At least in wow or lotro do not need to finish every expansion to progress to the next. FFXIV quests are like 80/90% of them are filler and only 10-20% are good so I really do not get why it is so popular. I am all for a good story but it should be optional, not mandatory since it is a mmo.
If you want an msq only experience Shadowfax exists atm.
Treebeard is the opposite. You are required to do side quests.
Now here's the thing.
They should allow the free servers to choose their experience. Much like the difficulty sliders.
Choose a normal pace, a faster pace or a slower pace.
Once Shadowfax and Treebeard catch up to the current content, the legendary servers should become F2P
