Every time I summon my chocobo I always have my character do the /pet or /joy emote at him before I run off doing whatever, it's in the little things, y'know?
I named my chocobo Sam after my late childhood dog. When I summon him for battle its like an old friend coming back to me. I also would name my wayward hatchling my current dog but well. Can't name minions smh
I don't use my chocobo as a mount very often, but he's my constant companion when doing overworld stuff, especially FATEs. I just recently changed his color to ice blue and decked him out with the Shiva barding, now he looks absolutely fabulous.
