  1. This was actually the last patch before FF14 officially dropped PS3 support. Going forward, you’ll notice some of the cutscenes and battles instances getting more elaborate and adding some of the characteristic FF stylishness.

I’m sure there were some PS3s roasting marshmallows after the devs decided, yes, we absolutely needed a Godzilla-esque kaiju battle scene to wrap up the HW patch series. Why? Just because lol.

And don’t worry. Namedays guy is definitely not meant to be taken that seriously.

Also, +1 for keeping the recaps. They add episodic continuity which is a nice touch. Plus you already timestamp them so people that want to skip can easily do so.

  2. More fun facts:
The original title you got forgetting the achievement "School's Out Forever" was "Papalymo's Final Witness," which understandably was a MASSIVE spoiler. The later ended up changing it.

  3. Gosetsu introducing himself before he battles is a bit of a Japanese tradition. Exchanging introductions had multiple reasons as far as I can tell:
    1. Reputation. By knowing each others' names, the winner can claim the "honor" of defeating such a foe.
    2. Bounties. If people exchange names, it makes claiming any outstanding bounties on that individual easier.

  4. The scene with Papalymo still makes me cry like a baby. I had to physically take a couple day break after that. Stormblood gets a lot of flack for being the weakest expansion story-wise (and it sorta is), but it is still a really good experience with a slew of slow points. You’re going to love all the heavensward side content though. I have slacked off on a lot of it myself for a couple years and once I went back to finish it I really regretted the wait. Can’t wait to see more

  5. Jic it ever become a problem- when you mentioned how avoiding even auto-attacking enemies was difficult for the second boss on Baelsar's, besides untargeting enemies, you can also just put your weapon away to keep from performing any actions. Idk if you've adjusting your keybindings any, but the default keybind for simply drawing and sheathing your weapon is… I believe the default is Z?

  6. Congrats on completing the post-patch content for Heavensward! Everything is set up for you dive into Stormblood.

This patch also introduced the best and worst Roegadyn's in the game! One of them featured the new DPS Stormblood brought: the Samurai! You've also been introduced to Omega, who will become much more important later. The timing of his introduction for you and what is currently going on in endgame is pretty coincidental timing. I guess you'll have to find out after Stormblood!

A little info on Shinryu: Primals are summoned by enormous amounts of aether (which was usually seen in crystals) and sacrifice. Sacrifice is the most important part, as it's essentially an emotional push towards the existence of the primal. Primal's aren't always "aspected" towards specific elements. You'll learn more about that type of stuff during Shadowbringers, but the Primals from ARR were always elemental beings because of the tribes that brought them about. Shinryu, Bahamut, and Phoenix do not fall into that same space, and you'll find more in Stormblood, so keep that in mind! Endwalker will begin to explain the other half of why Primals are summoned through sacrifice.

  7. Isn't this where the Fee Trial ends at? If so, that's one heck of a Free Trial and a madman's place to end it to get the hook for folks to continue. Sloppeh! (that was so funny, should have stuck a CinemaSin's ding in there too! haha) Many folks say Stormblood is the weakest of the expacs. It kind of is, however, it sits between Heavensward and Shaodwbringers. Even if it was stronger, it would just be outmatched by those others. I think there's different stuff there for different people. As for the compass. . . not yet.

  8. Gosetsu was the game's introduction to the Samurai job months before Stormblood and the job's addition to the game proper. In the fight with the Warriors of Darkness, Alisaie was a rough estimation of what would become Red Mage.

  9. I love the motion tracking mechanic, most people seem to never understand it. theres a similar mechanic later on as well. its a literal "just stand there" mechanic but everyone overthinks it. as long as you are stationary doing nothing when the countdown stops, nothing happens.
