  1. I joined a Party Finder for E9S yesterday as a fresh prog group and it went really well, actually. I came in expecting to get yelled at for dying or doing something wrong but the group was really helpful and understanding. One of them asked why I was doing something in my opener cause it looked weird to them so I double checked my job opener on the balance and realized I’ve learned it backwards so was buffing in the pre-pull. :’)

I really appreciate all the help that group gave me and now I feel way less anxious about joining another party in the future to continue prog.

  2. If extremes are considered baby steps I'm screwed. I spent like 3 hours wiping to SoS ex today with 2 different groups not including wipes I've had on previous days. I'd love to try a savage one day down the road but literally can't comprehend the game getting more difficult than what I saw today (even though I know it does). Does the high / satisfaction of completing a savage outweigh the frustration, wiping and lack of enjoyment (at least for me) of the game that comes along with it? This is what I'm stuck on.

  3. Yeah, I don't do Savage. I'll do everything in the game up to that point. Just not my thing. I could care less about getting yelled at by some random person I'll never meet in real life….heck even in real life I could care less but I do actually like to be somewhat prepared for Raids/dungeons even though I still screw up (sometimes a lot if I'm having a bad day). It's just not too big a deal with regular ones and I kinda enjoy that. Sometimes wipes are fun.

Glad they have it as an option even though I don't do them. I might change my mind and some point. Honestly, I really love the way they do gear in this game. Yeah, the mounts and glamours are super nice from Savage but the armor isn't really required. You can do everything up to that point just fine using other gear. So it's really cool that they have it there for those who want to dedicate the time and skill it takes to master it but it doesn't really break or hurt the game for those that don't.

  4. I honestly don’t see the point in progression besides for fun. Raiders seem to have this mentality that they’re special or something but honestly not at all. You’re just spending hours and hours to get items a little while before you can get a PF carry or tomestone gear that’s the same ilvl. So asides from ‘fun’ if that’s your idea of fun, I just don’t see the point or why there’s such reverence around it. There’s no skill or anything, the fight runs the exact same every time and it’s just about learning the muscle memory for it. And yep I have done it. I just don’t see it’s worth it for the time it takes, would rather farm eureka or something.

  5. Thank you for this insight I’ve been playing ff14 for a year now and I’m just looking into the more hardcore raids this put me at ease I was over thinking this for nothing love the videos keep em coming

  6. yoshi P stated DPS meters arent going to be a problem unless you make it a problem (i.e. griefing/shaming people for low dps). i have seen an instance of someone being suspended for doing so a couple years back, but thats the only time and the griefer was extremely vulgar to the person who was underperforming. so its hard to say if they got a ban from ACT or just being a complete jerk to the person.

  7. As toxic as this may sound… grow some thick skin.
There are toxic people, you just ignore them and learn to move on. If you get hung-up on what others say then you need to remember, their attitude is akin to a life of failure and you are better than them, ignore them.
The more toxic people you can blow-off the better you become.

I once got kicked from a World of Warcraft raid for being the only one doing mechanics.
There was a soak mechanic that deals 3,000,000 damage split between whoever soaks it, failure to soak it deals 3,000,000 to each party member.
I soaked it alone, because they were so hell-bent on trying to beat the dps check they failed to recognize the actual mechanics.
I died three times soaking it alone, being the only one to die and being resurrected twice, losing all my dps in the process.
They claimed that I "died three times and had shit dps".

On the other side I once got kicked from another raid because I did fail a bunch of mechanics consistently. Made me feel like shit. But I got better and I beat it with another group.

You'll find there's content you might just not be good enough for. In WoW, my dps was just not good enough for cutting-edge mythic raiding. Happens.

Has any of that stopped me? Not really.
You will have times when you feel like buying a plane ticket to fly over to your teammates and give them a hug.
Other times you will be googling "how do I use voodoo curses over the internet".

I'm unsure how ffxiv works, in wow I eventually found success making my own groups (you can't get kicked from groups you make yourself :D), but I have no clue how ffxiv works (still on stormsblood atm).

Also you should learn to differentiate between an asshole being passive-aggressive and someone trying to genuinely fill you in on something you are missing or help you correct a mistake you either don't notice or you seem to be arrogant towards. Have the humility to understand you are not the best Red Mage or Monk in the world, there's value in your betters advice than being too proud spamming the "report" button to oblivion in your vindictive wake.

  8. I love extreme trials because I don’t feel the pressure of having another three fights to clear. That being said, I really wish I was in a static so I could feel less pressure if I get things wrong. In pf I feel like someone may leave so I stress a lot about getting the most out of the party. That being said, I cleared hades extreme by pf and it is one of my favourite fights to date. There are pros and cons to pf vs a static so do what is best for you ❤️✨

  9. I've only done the one extreme trial, Shiva. We died 6 times, however I didn't prepare at all and actually at the time I didn't know what most markers meant. I pretty much only knew to avoid the AOE, I know pretty much all the markers now, and I always prepare for the tougher boss fights. Still think I should do more extreme trials first though.

  10. I've been bashing my head in PF vs. E9S tiles for weeks on end now. No friends = no static, so I'm kinda forced to join whatever shitter groups are available in hopes I'll get more progress (I usually don't, people come in without knowing phaser). I'm in that weird spot where normal raids and ex trials are snoozefests, but savage raiding drives me to near tears.

  11. I'm hoping to do Savage Raids at some point. They just seem like a fun challenge. But I don't think I've quite there yet gear wise. I just finished Stormblood and did the Delta-Alphascape Normal content but don't think I'm good to try Savage yet…plus I don't have that area with that dummy to even practice so guess I'll have to wait on that.

I've just always wanted to do raids, never got the chance in WoW at all.

  12. you need dps meters for hard content so why dont they just make an ingame one you cant turn on and off and still ban people who use it to talk bad about people.

  13. I had genuinely one of the worst experiences upon trying savage content, not because I didn't enjoy the raids themselves, but the community for savage raids is extremely toxic and after 2 statics of people just blaming each other and being extremely shitty behind each others back, I even had a player in my second static that would send me pm's for next few days with alts and his friends with some really nasty comments all because I decided to leave the static to avoid that kind of stuff, that turned me away from that side of the game. I really WANT to try and get into it again but the state of the community of just a bunch of people stroking their numbers to feel better than everyone else makes some extremely toxic players. There's so much to do in the game and a lot of great people in those parts that I generally didn't want to waste my time again.

I suppose this is my way of saying beware that the savage raid community is VERY different..

  14. about ACT, they cannot detect its use. they can't look at your computer, legally. yoshi p admits as much. just don't badmouth people for sucking. don't really talk about it. even positively, just don't talk about it. i don't even like to in private groups like linkshells or fcs, or even whispering. better to just be safer than sorry, if you're going to use it.

but they literally can't stop you from using it. it is not making any inputs into ff14, its just taking information from it. they can't legally detect it.

  15. If you want a wider variety of EX content before jumping into Savage, look for your datacenter's synced community. Every DC has one, they generally organize via Discord, and it's a great way to find groups for synced trials that you would never be able to experience otherwise.

  16. still wish SE would give us personal dps parsers (just showing our dps), so we can improve .., also since to get into a static, 99% of the static recruiters will want to see a fflogs upload :/..

BUT that said, THIS comment section right here is why I love this game! You have 18yr olds and 64 yr olds relating to the same thing an having fun together! i think its such a unique and beautiful thing that these games do!

  19. can you please focus on infos and maybe showing them in game/minimap…. and stop goofing arround all the time ! plz at least in the serious videos for tutos and stuff like that ! It's annoying and confuses new players wich obviously you try to help! you can do specific videos for goofing and jokes …. maybe a compilation of fails and funny stuffs in the game ! but Infos and tuto videos have to be efficient and easy to understand ! this is useless for instance cause new players don't know names of raids … you need to show them actually in game … Thx in advance

  20. RE: ACT – Yoshi has said that they will never issue bans for using ACT because they can't tell if you're using ACT. It works by intercepting data as it's sent to/from the game. It doesn't manipulate anything. It just parses data.
The "3rd party tools" rule is also generally quite difficult to enforce because it's unclear where the line should be drawn. Is an MMO mouse a 3rd party tool? Is Discord a 3rd party tool? Neither of these things are part of the game and they offer advantages over people who are not using them.
