I think one sub would be a great idea and sounds more doable. Even if they can’t really connect with them in a meaningful way it would make the transition way more smooth.
Actually YoshiP said we’d be going to the moon in two more expansions while we were in SB so EW would be the second expansion.
Edit: I want to add, this was the first FFest when ShB was announced.
One way we could link the world/story of XIV into the next MMO could be one of the stories of the lodestone. In particular the Tales from the Shadows "An Unpromissed Tomorrow".

this tale follows the timeline from the source from whence the Crystal Exarc came. Where the 8th Umbral Calamity wasn't avoided and the first was merged into the source.
it could follow from there, where each of the shards was merged until the world was made whole.
And far in the future is when the new story begins, maybe with the Ascian plans not working as they hoped.
The existence of a second timeline, the XIV timeline where the flood of light was stopped, could cause ripples into this new game/world.
With even future events of a different arc in the XIV having some consequence, albeit marginal, on the next MMO world.

14 could do what PSO 2 did with PSO2NG. In that game you simply go to a teleporter, select the ship (server) you want to travel to, one option is either game. Works seamlessly.
A connected 14/17 would be AMAZING!
1 problem with an updated engine and graphical fidelity is that it would potentially lock a lot of people out of playing due to old hardware and could possibly completely cut out consoles and cross platform play, that is something I don’t want to see. The beauty of the older engine and lower graphical fidelity is that ff14 will run on almost any hardware at this point
I think what would be cool is that if they localized Dragon Quest X and included it in this circle of hypothetical MMOs you guys are talking about. Would love to try that game, not a single player version, but the actual MMO.
Chris is on track with having 11 14 and a future mmo all on one service.
with ps4-5 and dropping the 3 i think it opens more doors. i think an engine update is in the works, prob keeping it on the DL tho

I wouldn't mind New Genesis approach like PSO2… FF 17/18 MMO would be sad if the whole world is just lost.
I don’t feel like they need another FF online MMO, unless it is bringing FF11 back to consoles.
I have been watching your videos for 2 weeks now and I just now realized I had not subscribed to this great channel. I apologize for being late and thank you both for the fun videos.
I just hope and pray they don't half arse it. I can't stand more of these moments where you hear the character's voice and the next scene right after, it's mute. just pay your voice actors to do the whole thing please! your game makes millions of $.
I can understand ARR being half arsed, it was the beginning project, but there is no excuse for Endwalker to be the same. If Bioware could do it, so can Square Enix. the game and the cut scenes are so good, but the lack of sound ruins the… what's the word… the experience, for a lack of a better word. But I guess Vanilla SWTOR ruined it for all other RPG games I'll ever play after it in the future, because nothing will be close. FF14 gets the "close but no cigar" title in this reguard. if they just voice everything, it's perfect. I mean, they pay the actors anyway, they might as well do the whole thing. the game would be perfect if they did.
But I don't expect to get what I want, I expect for it to be some voiced some muted scenes.

With what Yoshi-P and the team have been able to do with FF14, they have basically earned the community's trust. We don't need to see a lot of trailers or steps along the way because we know what they are capable of. As long as they can remain humble, whatever they produce for FF16 will likely be amazing.

Have your sins been forgiven today and forever? Think about this. The God of the bible, the One True God made us to worship him, obey him, and enjoy him forever. We break His laws daily by not putting Him first, not thanking Him like we should, we lie, we lust, we have sex before marriage, we dishonor our parents, we covet things other people have, we take God's name and use it in vain, we use it in a low manner, sometimes as a cuss word, (God is holy and even His name is holy), we don't love like we should, etc. In doing so we're saying He's not a good provider, He's a liar, He's untrustworthy, He's not worthy of praise. All these things and more are counted against us. The bible says God is the just judge of the world and one day He will settle the score for all the wrong we've done. God is holy meaning He is righteous (morally perfect in thought, word, and deed) It also means He is set apart and higher than us. God being good, must punish all sin or wrong doing in the world. This means that if you sin one time God will cast you in hell for eternity. Because He is good and He doesn't turn a blind eye to sin. But there is good news. 2000 years ago Jesus the Son of God came into this world and lived a perfect life ( He never sinned once) and He died on the cross taking the wrath that we deserve and paid the penalty for the sins we committed. The bible says that if you will repent (confess and forsake your sins) and trust in what Christ did on the cross (He took the wrath of God that was meant for you and I) then all your sins will be forgiven and when you die you will be in heaven with God and all who believe for eternity. Jesus died and on the third day He rose from the grave. Get right with God today don't wait. Once you die after that comes the judgement. Hebrews 9:27 It's the most important thing you can do. You must be born again John 3:7 If you repent and trust in what Christ did on the cross it shows that you've been born again or born spiritually. Right now you're dead in your sins and you can't see the beauty of Jesus Christ but after you trust in Christ all the things you hate about God like obeying him, serving Him, loving Him and others, reading the bible, praying and going to church you will love to do those things because God changes your heart. That's how you know you have been born again and forgiven. Please think long about this and ask me any questions you have as this is the most important thing you can ever think of in your life. An eternity in hell (darkness and a lake of fire the bible describes it, with weeping and gnashing of teeth) or an eternity out of that place and into the loving arms of God who is infinitely glorious, has infinite knowledge and has infinite power to do all that He pleases. With the boom in popularity of ff14, they will not make a new MMO in the near future. Only a fool would risk losing the money 14 brings then.
Theres 0% chance of ff 17 be an mmo.
If at some point the number 14 won't make sense, why have they not changed the name of Final Fantasy 11? 11 is still 11. 14 will be 14. 17 would, I hope, be a 17, and not just a 14-2
Not gunna lie i love ffxiv but i feel they should kill it sorta like they did 1.0 and use it to fuel the new game they dont have to kill it kill like your sub should let you go hack and play tye old one but lore wise its gone like mayhe you reach ejd game and your frozen in a crystal and wake up centrys later you forgot alot of stuff have lil flashes of the past game but cant make sence of it so the games are connected but exist as two seprate timelines
And you could add a feature called relive tye glory days and go back in your memorys but essentialy travel hack to the old game and play with your freinds on ffxiv but for you its just a memory
I think if there was to become a new alternative to 14, 14 would be over within a few months. As good as it’s been, Lots of players only sub for a couple of months around patches or expansions. it only takes a few weeks to hit Ilvl cap, then clear the trials etc, once the expansions stop then it’s dead. I hope their next mmo will have some of the ffxi magic that kept myself and many others subbed for years and years after the last expansion.
Chris’ comment on hoping their next mmo has more of the ffxi play style or combat style! That’s what ffxiv 1.0 was. I loved it (once it was fixed) but the masses and critics did not. The best I would hope for is a combat system that’s just nothing like what 14s is right now.
Ive played FFXI from 2006-2019 and I can say there is no way I’d want to go back to a mmo so punishing and brutal as XI was before the Abyssea expansions. It was so much more hardcore than WoW at the time. That style of mmos time has come and gone except for a small minority of players. I think what players really want is a sandbox style FF mmo like XI but with the amount of content XIV has.
