Final Fantasy XIV: The Final Dungeons

This is it! The last bonus episode of the series in which we check out Amdapoor Keep (Hard Mode) as well as the Wanderers Palace (Hard Mode), plus a bit of the gold saucer and some talk for what’s coming up in the future!

  1. You should try Machinist once you reach HW. The lore is cool, the skills are awesome, the job quests are decent. It’s my favorite class! I’m not fond of the other 2 but machinist is kicking ass

  2. I hear you saying at the start of this stream that we're nearing the "end of the series". Are you going to treat each expac as it's own "series" & and will you be jumping straight into Heavensward when you're done with the ARR content?

  3. The thing that gets me about triple triad is that while its original implementation was no doubt costly (all the initial cards, game framework, the multiplayer, etc), since then all they do is a little bit of 2d art and design work each expac (and a mount reward every couple) to give a massive carrot on the stick for a lot of players. It really is the poster child for how a minigame can thrive and be evergreen if thought out well from the start and maintained afterwards.

So a small part of me hopes that gw2 can get around to doing something like it one day.

  4. 2:24:45 About the DX11 stuff in GW2: there was a blogpost earlier this year where they were talking about a few different things related to it:
"Thanks to DX11, we’ve been able to increase the number of armature bones and lighting objects for new models and environments, build full 360-degree skyboxes, and begin using vertex animation (or point-level animation). One of the engine improvements we’re working on right now is an upgrade to BC7 texture compression, a significant jump over the technology that we’ve been leveraging since the launch of the game. This will improve the clarity and fidelity of in-development and future textures, most notably for weapons, visual effects, environments, and creatures. In the longer term, we’ll be evaluating the feasibility of upgrading existing, already-shipped textures to BC7 compression, but there are some technical hurdles for us to overcome before we commit. We’ll have more developments to share on this front as the team continues their work."

IIRC Shaman has also mentioned that it is actually implemented now.

  5. This game's physics has always been considered janky, the fact that they would add fall guys within it seems so bizarre to me. FF has always had a thing for blending genres but this is just something else. What an acid trip. Its like Fortnie when the devs are constantly using a current game to add other games inside. Its strange to think about, playing a worse version of another game but…you get rewards towards your main MMO character
