I’m currently playing through Stormblood, and there are some very noticeable issues with this game. Many people told me to lower my expectations when going into this expansion for Final Fantasy XIV. These problems were so noticeable that had to split my video about Stormblood into two parts and part one is bad. So join me on my journey through Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn, Heavsward, Stormblood, Shadowbringer, and Endwalker.

BTW for anyone wondering, I will be making a video about some of things I did enjoy about Stormblood. I just feel like this expansion was a mixed bag.
Stormblood definitely mixed bag. I love Zenos, Yotsuyu and Ferdola unlike many naysayers. I felt like Stormblood should have been longer with more fleshed out stuff and delete dumb stuff.
I'm playing Bazja and it feels like it should be part of Stormblood…..shrug i guess.
Also the reason why i have problems with freeing these states was…
1.) Kugane seemed like they was doing fine, at least in the traveling port towns which i imagine the rich have no problem with even those are their citizens being beaten in the outskirts. Kugane was kinda corrupt and lost that war/battle to their own arrogance. I wish they gave us the citizens opinion about how they felt about new leadership and old leadership. We mostly hung out with ppl who preferred the old feudal leadership. However Yotsuyu was there not only as the villain but to remind us she became this way under that corrupt old leadership. Ferdola reminded me of this in Ala Mhigo as well.
2.) I feel about Ala Mhigo the same i feel about Kugane. Except i was really really thinking "wtf , why am i helping this country, they had a MAD KING", i mean i know of course when it comes to corrupt kingdoms, the poor civilians don't have a choice in the matter of who they get, but it seems like there are two groups when it comes to these problems.
3.) Bazja is literally brings up the problems i have with Stormblood but I'll admit more enjoyable, just the same sht i think about the social stuff in Kugane and Ala Mhigo. Hence why it feel like it should have been in Stormblood. And im still thinking "wtf am i helping these guys". And i think that's the Dev's problem, they not giving us a "Good" reason to interven these places except Garlean bad ….but wasn't the previous ppl in power bad too???
There are the ppl who want to roll the dice and get a new leader cause things are so bad. Some have more selfish reason then most.
Then there are the ppl who want to stick with the corruption cause at least its familiar and the fear of new leadership being worst. Again some have selfish motivation for this as well.
I just wish there was maybe some npc dialogue that talked a lil about the state of life in their vicinity.
I mean at least i understand Zenos, he wants to fight and is willing to destroy whole world…ok dude, lets fight for eternity. Thats easy to do 😐😂
Plus i was ok with us kicking Garland butt when they tried taking over Eorzea but now im "liberating" other states…sounds super sus brah😬😂
Im honestly interested in how garleans. Apparently they cant control magic putting them at a disadvantage towards the more magical race, how they had to escape in the sheer cold mountains to escape, how a "certain person"(spoilers) started Garland in the first place. Probably easy though lol. How they started mecha in the first places. I know throughout the main story and side quest that there is some lil lore dropped but i want more lol.
In conclusion, i just wanted to be like gg everyone, I'ma do what i want and do side quest or dungeons and raids lol 😂 seeya later. Help yourselves. I'm not a hero at heart, im a gather at heart💝👍
I largely agree. I think going forward Lyse being a leader is less of a problem, so look forward to that. It really disappointed me when I learned the expansion would split between AM and Doma before launch. Sure enough, though Miles ahead of ARR, the split is at the center of almost every problem in StB. They didn't really do either justice and considering Ala Mhigo is a long running plot thread, they shouldn't have rushed it. Or doma for that matter, but the latter almost gets treated as anime filler. Good anime filler, but filler all the same.
At least the team did some great work with content experiment that expansion and a lot of the praise levelled at ShB uses tech and lessons developed in StB. Eureka walked so Bozja could run etc etc.
The dungeons and trials were fun in SB however, the story itself in my opinion was honestly garbage.
Im on the latter half of stormblood and im skipping cutscenes for the first time since I started realm reborn. The story feels very drawn out and there’s no real sense of urgency from the alliance.
I got about 50-60% through Stormblood and finally decided to buy a story skip – though I really didn't want to.
The reason is simply I wasn't enjoying it. The story jumps around so much and there's some seriously annoying duties (Nadaam especially) that I couldn't get invested in anything and felt more annoyed than anything. I felt more relief that content was "over with" than I was happy to have completed it.
What made it worse was hearing over and over and over, ad infinitum, how amazing Shadowbringers is. How it's FFXIV's "Chains of Promathia" (high praise). So, I had to slog through content I wasn't enjoying and a story I didn't care about in order to get to something I'd probably love.
So, it was down to either skipping the remainder of the story, or canceling my sub. I wanted to experience Shadowbringers, so I bought the skip. Then went back and watched the cut-scenes for the remainder of Stormblood.
I was hoping I wouldn't regret skipping it, but, within minutes of beginning Shadowbringers' story, I knew I made the right decision. I was pulled in immediately.
But go figure. Stormblood seems to be widely considered XIV's weakest expansion so far. At least in what I've seen.
Stormblood is straight up trash. I just watched a synopsis and skipped all the cutscenes. I wanted the XP.
