  1. 17:00 regarding that, it’s actually highly unlikely that a lake completely freezes solid. Water is in fact densest at 4°C (39.2°F), just before it actually freezes (hence why ice always floats on water).

So what happens is that the denser non-freezing water goes to the lakebed when the lake freezes, and the fish will congregate there as well.

  2. if my WOL was tasked with planning a wedding, it would be a disaaster because i'd be assuming my friends would be doing most of the work, except for what i was instructed to do.

  3. This one is still a fun questline, but I also found it to have one of the most endearing storylines of the game, really. I made sure to do it since the last time I saw Dan and Jocat play the first series, and I was most pleased with it. 🙂

  4. What a fun surprise! I just started the HW Hildibrand quests myself, it's my current "waiting for queue to give me a dungeon" thing. I will die for GiGi. (also this makes it way easier to imagine Hildy's dialogue in Jocat's fantastic Hildibrand voice.)

  5. What's better about the dread Gazebo isn't that the player was paranoid… or any more paranoid than usual, he was fully unaware of what a gazebo was, and had mistaken it for a monster. The dm described it as "A gazebo on a hill" so he didn't exactly have context. It also reminds me of one of my favorite Door Monster gags, "(Building a character without a backstory) is like a building with a roof, but no walls!" "You have just described a Gazebo."

  6. Ah, Hildibrand. A questline of all time.
5:23 So far, I have her more in a Mayuri voice, even though it's not quite a good fit. Cockney just… nah.
    6:29 I understood that reference.
7:15 There's another story from… some YT person that is equally amusing. I forget the bulk of it, but there was a player at this person's table who… was very new to D&D, to be polite. at a dungeon junction that had a Right, Back, and Forward directions… this player insisted on going *Left*. Which became a kind of in-joke. If anyone remembers it or can find it, by all means, share the comedy.
9:52 Why would he be wearing trousers? He's got that big fuzzy robe.
16:26 Godbert appears to be stripping as h gets farther out… can't say I'm surprised.
17:11 Depending on depth of water and ice, ice fishing is a thing. If it's really thick ice, you can even set up a campfire on the ice, and a little shack of tent… next to the truck you probably drove out there. In shallower water, I presume fish get caught in the freezing all the time. Dunno what happens to them.
19:49 Once again, Heavensward giving off 40k vibes. It's not quite "the Codex Astartes does not condone this action", but we're getting there.
28:35 Because you have. Mostly. It's just not an alternate reality for you.
29:48 Not what I was expecting, but equally absurd.
30:12 What fresh hell is that expression?
30:33 Post is such a powerful thing.
30:54 Cyr, I have terrible news.
31:15 Usually, that's called a concussion. Or brain damage.
31:34 That's not a thing one brags about. I mean, it explains some things, but still.

  7. Trivia: Although his name is not mentioned in dialogue, the Gentle Dead Man ambassador is referred to as "Autgar Hammil" in the outro credits. From the Encyclopedia Eorzea, we know that he was a Sil'dihn mercenary, age 33 at the time of his transformation into a zombie almost 400 years ago. He spent much of that time wandering in a daze until the aftermath of the Calamity restored his mind and Hildibrand taught him the ways of dapperness.

  8. Yay, more Hildibrand! And more Dan and Jocat! Is it just me or does Durmin kinda look like Luke from the Professor Layton games in that blue outfit?
That is a very entertaining story about the D&D gazebo. I will have to share it with my sister if she does not already know it.
(Insert girlish squeeing) GIGI!!!! A reference to my second favorite FFIX character. Yes Dan, you should play IX, but you probably want a break from FF and long games…

  9. Yay, bonus Durmin time! And it's Gentlemanly Hijinks with JoCat too!

I continue to love the nods to FFIV's Yang, Sheila, and Ursula with these characters.

Vivi! Or rather Gigi! That reminds me, I need to pick back up my FF9 game, I totally forgot about it.
