  1. You know, it's weird, but of the turncoat Braves, it's Laurentius's joining them that probably stings the most.

After his main-ARR plotline, he seemed to have genuinely regretted his actions, and seemed to have learned something given the message he gave to Buscarron for you. Even after his release, he seemed pleased to have a second chance to do things right. I have to wonder if, had he had been assigned to a different division of the Braves, things might have been different.

Edit: I should probably have finished that sentence before posting it!

  2. One detail I really like in the flashback is… Oh, lots of people pointed out the Forgotten Knight already. Nevermind! Cool to know so many others loved that little detail!

  3. 24:46 I have always, always heard "Feed me!" here.
25:51 The adds spawned here will attack Estinien. If he dies, so do you. Fortunately, the healer can keep him up… if they pay attention to him.
29:52 And so is the legend of the Stinky Dragoon born.
43:39 This is surprisingly better foreshadowed than I originally thought. They never give you a good look at Hraesvelgr's empty socket in the earlier cutscenes, but they don't hide it, either.

  4. Honestly the more we learn of the history of this war the more impressed I am with Hraesvelgr's self control. Were it me in his position, Shiva or not, I'd have Godzilla'd clear across the Holysea by now. Ishgard would resemble a childrens' pop-up book more than a city.

  5. Ya know, I've been waiting for someone to take Hraesvelgr to task for his foolishness. What the Ishgardians of 1,000 years ago did was unforgivable, to be certain, but surely that handful of mortals didn't comprise all of them. Even if it *did*, why must the Ishgardians of the present suffer for the sins of their forebearers for so long? Is one thousand years of penance not enough?

  6. -yeah… I don't think Estinien & Ysale are really good at this whole Diplomacy with rightfully angry dragons thing, keeping Nidhogg's eye doesn't help either
-sure Sir, keeping the secret behind the War with the Eternal Entities is totally NOT gonna spectacularly backfire for the rest of Time, nope no Sir
-yeah leaving your throne empty in wait for a future King is totally not shaddy nor exploitable

  7. I totally never realized that the Brawny Knight starts up the Forgotten Knight tavern. That's a neat detail.
I always kinda got upset during the flashback, about the knights saying that the common folk need a king's strong and gentle hand to guide them. I can guide myself well enough, thank you. One could read into that scene if they wished. That the knights' paternalistic views on smallfolk is what lead to the noble/common divide of Ishgard and all the pain that has caused along with the dragonsong war.
Also, the beginning of Estenian smelly.

  8. I believe the problem you've commented on regarding things disappearing is due to LOD threading. In the graphic settings there should be an option to hide things not in view (I forget the exact wording of it, object culling maybe?) but if you turn that off that might help with that problem.

  9. Okay, I truly love this dragon arc, so far ^^ It's a really well-written story with no happy ending and no heroes. Both sides were in the wrong, and neither really side can truly obtain justice without injustice taking place

  10. He's not exactly gentle about it, but Estinien's reasons for argueing against Aymeric & Alphinaud coming along are sound – and his insistence shows that he does care about people, in his own, very grouchy way xD

  11. Man, nobody ends up looking good in this war, huh? Ishgard started it, but the dragons have dragged it out far beyond anything even remotely reasonable. And nobody will admit to being wrong.

  12. I like that Nidhogg's bossfight was more chill, but also somber. It was a necessary, but not a heroic fight. Especially since we know the truth of what has transpired…

Also if Estinien has just one of Nidhogg's eyes….what happened to the other one?

  13. 12:40 My favorite little quip from Dan so far^^

Also by now the environments are starting to shape up quite a lot! Ishgard is already pretty, but the Aery was a sight to behold! Looking forward to see where they go from here^^
