  1. I finished FF4 pixel remaster last week, got all achievements, did all side stories. I honestly currently don't see any plot points borrowed from that game. Character names/designs, maybe some enemy designs and location names, and of course the fantastic music – all of that seems really based on FF4, but the plot to me seems completely separate. Maybe when more of it gets resolved, I'll see the connection.

Also in regards to the trial being part of the MSQ, I don't think it's a bad idea in concept, but this time it felt kinda forced. Apart from maybe Titania, all of the MSQ fights of Shadowbringers and Endwalker so far had massive story weight behind them, while this one seemed kinda meaningless. Don't get me wrong, it is fully justified within the story, but it doesn't seem like "Ok, everything we've done so far, have led us to this confrontation", like probably the last 5 MSQ Trial fights looked.

Also Sorrows of Werlyt is possibly the greatest side story this game have ever produced, and I don't want to limit the possibility of another great story like that showing up.

  2. FF4 is one of my favorites next to 6. I adore the game. I was super excited for this patch. I just wish youtubers hadn't spoiled the story trial before I could even get off of work yesterday.

  3. 11:30 with discussion about dungeon paths and how people tend to go for more optimal paths, older ARR and some HW come to mind before their revamp. Tbh I like the more streamlined paths while the bosses have more unique mechanics (shb had some of the more interesting and I'm not at EW yet so can't comment). Definitely agree on extreme versions which the new varient dungeons and etc look very interesting to me.

  4. One thing that's gonna urk me with island sanctuary is flying. I would have liked if it was a flight-free zone and some spots of the island unlocked with passages or ladders or tunnels or walkways the player builds. But can't have everything.

  5. Given that the dungeons stay in expert roulettes for 8 months I don't think it's out of place to ask for slightly spicier dungeons. Nothing crazy, just more dungeons like The Burn, Mardam's Mettle and Tower of Zot, and less like Smileton. If they're worried that the worst of the worst players may get hard stuck on story progression, they can just add Echo on wipe to duty support.

  7. Sorrow of Werlyt was the best side story. It should have been in the MSQ. The trials were not that hard and it is required to understand Gaius and his redemption.

  8. You're a good lad, Rui. I wish more content creators shared your view when it comes to spoilers. I've unsubbed from one channel today because they decided spoilery thumbnails was the way to go. What is wrong with these people?

  9. I started playing in late Stormblood, and so far 6.2 was my third favorite patch in the game, with 5.0 and 5.3 being my tops. I did play FF4 which may have increased my enjoyment on this patch, but I feel like they do a good enough job of establishing things that it wouldn't really feel out of place imo. But so far I enjoy all the raid fights (I've never enjoyed all 4 fights in a tier before) , the trial, and the dungeon. My group is starting the EX tomorrow, so we'll see if I still feel the same way when things get dialed up. Can't wait for next week!

  10. I like having some trials in side quests and not MSQ for a couple reasons.
    1) you can access them at any time after you beat the original MSQ (x.0s) instead of waiting through MSQ
    2) more story but not being part of MSQ. There's sometimes I need a break from MSQ, not questing but just MSQ specifically
    3) the theme won't be locked to MSQ because there are some themes I couldn't care less for.

I honestly might be in the minority here but I wish each expansion was a separate story so when each expansion drop, there's more story ANYONE can access once they beat the base game (2.0). I can't tell you how often I'll have people that want to do the new content but they're not even in the recent expansion so they cant feel what its like to be part of the "new content" experience until maybe even when 7.0 is released. It'll be nice if they can find a way to make new content that lvl 90s can party with any other lvls without losing any part of your toolkit. It might be hard to find a way to balance it but I think they're competent enough to do a decent job.

Also I think Island Sanctuary is mediocre at best. I think they could've gotten more of customizations out of it even early on. The minions, I can barely notice in passing, I wish they were bigger than they normally would be. Like having the contruct 8 boss minion at full size would be cool. And many you can select a few minions to "help build" the structures and depending on which you use, there would be a theme like if you use all chocobo-like minions, the structures would resemble like a chocoholic style house. If they use mostly birds, they structure would resemble a nest. If they use mostly machines, they would resemble a industrial factory or something mechanical. These thoughts are just ideas that came to my mind within the 1st hour of gameplay so the fact that there is so little customization to it is baffling to me. And don't get me started on the shitty UI and the unnecessary complications of switching modes just to go from planting seeds to even just watering them, why is that even a thing you have to do?

  11. I do wish there was just a bit more challenge in the content. I'm a tank main myself and I'm also finding things are becoming repetitive. Is it necessarily a dungeon problem or a fundamental Tank problem? Idk, but it does feel samey despite the amazing designs / aesthetic choices

  12. I don't like short time gated content in games I pay for, especially when it involves content that's there just to be zen. It has the opposite effect on me, I feel stressed to keep track of the timers and arrange playtime around them. I realize it's in the genre but it's the reason I prefer Stardew Vally over Animal Crossing type games. Let me chill at my own pace, thanks.
