  1. What if I already play through the steam version on PC, would I then be able to run it on the Steamdeck?

I’m contemplating buying a Steamdeck for on the go grinds 😊

  2. Where do you create your folder on your micro sd card for it to appear under D when you try to install the game, because as it stands D has no + sign by it when I am at the folder stage, and I'm trying to install on a micro sd card.

  3. after I finish the FFsetup, without a keyboard or mouse, just letting it download at C: program files 86, but when I then go to run folder then media, there are no files in that folder, did I somehow fuck up the settup part? or should I download it somewhere else? tho it is hard to navigate just using touch screen, was not having any luck trying to use the touchpads to navigate anything

  4. I got an error upon first. Logging in saying that suspicious activity detected had to change my password. And I am scared to try to log in again. Do you have any recommendations or ti about this? Should I just steer clear?

  5. I am unable to find the boot launcher in the steam deck. I had to go a separate video tutorial to figure out how to get to the C: drive, but when I do, the boot is nowhere to be seen beyond that. I am saving it to programs files (x86) and nothing appears there, or in any user folders in the usersmydocuments either. I can't even open the folders when installing it to drop the boot in another folder since that screen disables the mouse function for some reason, and taping the + does nothing to expand. Your layout looks different from mine too, so I assume some update happened recently to prevent this from installing, or is hiding the file from me.

Edit: So I am not losing my mind, I saved the game next to FFXII since I can see that, and when I go to browse games in steam, it only shows the FFXII, so I can only assume the FFXIV files are being deleted after installation?

  6. I do the same… I install the game in downloads folder, but I can't find the final fantasy xiv folder…

I also look at run folder, then media folder, but that one is empty as well. I click on "show hidden files", but I still see nothing. Can someone help me? Thanks

  7. I went through this guide yesterday and it's mostly pretty helpful. However, there are a few steps that need to be changed if you're installing the game on the internal SSD instead of an external medium.

The game only installs in the run/media directory when youre installing to an external medium. If installed on the internal SSD, it installs to /home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata in a temporary folder associated with the installer. If you remove the installer from your library, steam clears that temp folder, which includes the actual game install.

After you finish installing, you have a few options. Either move the install directory to a different location on the hard drive outside of the temporary folder or go into the steam settings for the installer and change the target locations to that of the launcher exe. In the case you choose to do the latter, the entire path for the exe has to be in quotes or it won't work.

Aside from this difference, everything else in the video guide still applies.

  8. Ahh I figured it out. For some reason when I was selecting an install folder, my SDXC card was listed as E: in the menu even though it should have been D. Once I selected that I had no issues finding it using RUN then MEDIA.

  9. I have FFXIV on PS5 but have never bought it on PC for Steam or the Launcher and might get in while its on sale right now since I've never owned either version on PC would I still have to get ahold of Square Enix Customer Service to unlink my account from my PS5 or should I be ok if I am just buying either version (preferably Stram) on PC for the first time now? Thanks guys!!

  11. Not sure this is working anymore. I followed the instructions got everything working up to the login, upon logging in it thinks I'm attempting to log in to a steam version of the game. I tried a full reformat of the steamdeck as well. Same error I do not own the steam version of the game. Not sure what's going on or how to get past this part.

  12. For those looking, the "program files" and "program file x86" directories are located under: ( .local is a hidden directory, need to press the hamburger button in the upper right side of the file explorer and select show hidden files)
    /home/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/<some random string of numbers>/pfx/drive_c/
