  1. If you're mad that Rich got a stacked group to clear UCOB, then go get a camera and mic, start streaming and be entertaining, get big and make those connections with the content creators in the community. Otherwise suck it up and start actually playing the game.

  2. for the "irl advantages shouldnt have an impact". i am written sick for 2 years now, i am single and i can and will play ff14 for up to 12 hrs a day. that is, even if its a sad one, an irl advantage, i can play way longer then almost anyone else. should i cut down my hours playing? for health reasons? maybe. because i have an advantage over other players? hell no.
studies found that the average gamer plays 8 hrs 10 minutes a week or 1 hr 10 minutes a day. should now everyone cut down, no matter who it is, on their times, because the average player cant play longer and playing longer would be an advantage?
irl advantages always have an impact, money and time and other factors. what if your parent are food experts, the kind modern e sports champions use? should they get their kid to not eat healthy for his activity, just because its an advantage? how about the kid from someone owning or working at a gym and he can train there each day for free, shouldnt he do it because regular training can help you in gaming?
and knowing those ppl isnt a streamer privilige, you can meet those ppl too, go onto raid discord, talk to ppl in world first fcs, talk to ppl that clear it weekly. most of them are just normal ppl, and i would bet most of them wouldnt tell you "you scrub get gut, before you talk to me". but would actualy tell you how to go about trying to get into ultimate or even take you with them, if you are nice enough.
the same ppl that talk here about irl advantages and streamer priviliges are the same ppl that discount any and all achievments any female streamer gets, because of "tit bonus" and "she slept with the raid leader to get carried" (i dont discount that situations could actualy happen, but the mentality of the haters, that dont see any other reason the female raider could have gotten that clear, except for those that have to do with her primary and secondary reproductive organs).

  3. People have no shame like come on if your jealous just because of that and butt hurt and you hate the other individual who isn't the best but asked for help and made a party and successful because of it then you are the problem you cant judge what others have if you don't deserve the respect especially the mind set of a child wanting a candy from another kid who actually bought it with their money to eat yet you try to steal it away. I could never be jealous about him getting "the legend" and if you had that mind set, not in game but real life you'll probably be in better place if your effort matches your stubbornness in trying to cancel and or ruin others because of selfish feelings that benefits NO ONE DUHHHH, like they say… you got your revenge what now what will do what did achieve and at what cost… the cost is your brain cells.

  4. Part of the issue is that FF14's raid system actively discourages support from outside of a static due to how the raid drops work and they see Rich's team assembly as something that breaks that tradition and are attempting to undermine his achievement through this one condition. He did have the benefit of people with years of experience who knew the fight extremely well so that they could focus on support him while doing their own part. Because of this, he didn't have to learn the fight from scratch, so they don't think he deserve it like the early raiders did. Still, it doesn't change the fact that he cleared it.

However, what I will say is that balancing often works in favor of the player so DPS checks tend to be easier to meet with each major patch, especially if it's across expansions. It's just the norm for the game. And because of this, UCoB has gotten slightly easier because of the ShB changes.

  5. FFS, to those who's feathers were ruffled the wrong way, maybe you should stop playing the game for a while and cool off. Rich worked his ass off and more than earned his clear. So what if the others in the run knew the fight well or not. All it did was adjust the total amount of time needed. People are just looking for something to grind their axe on. boo hoo streamer privileges, it's a bunch of bs. Whether or not Rich's contribution overall had a significant impact on numbers, it wasn't like he just floor tanked for the entire pull. jfc, I wish people would just type "GG Rich" and move on.

  6. I didn't watch any of these people or play FFXIV. I heard stories about everyone jumping on board a WoW bandwagon and Asmongold moving over and having an amazing viewer count because of it, and here I am playing FFXIV and watching these streamers. I'm just some scrub, and these are the people helping actively build a bigger and better FF community. Of course people like Rich and Zepla and Asmon are going to be showered with gifts and carried. And their goal is to entertain people willing to sub to them or give them money, not be some epic e-athlete.

  7. I think if he had done it with people from his FC, it would not have been much of an issue for people. He was able to clear it sooner than most people who have been working on it for awhile, due to his streamer privilege and being able to do it with high end raiders. Had he put in the time like most people that are not streamers, there would not have been such an uproar. Even though he did well and followed instructions by the caller, people feel he didn’t earn it, because he didn’t put in the time.

  8. People are upset that they have sunk years into a game and new players are a reminder of how untalented they are. Rich's clear doesnt devalue his achievement, it devalues the players who are complaining (most of which probably dont have it anyway). jealousy is a hell of a drug.

  9. Um the world is full of asshats. Thats just it people will always find a reason to hate on others. All these people complaining Rich has done something you have not, brought hundreds if not thousands of people to a game, enabling more people to play, more money to the team to make the game, and more press coverage to put the game in main stream. To bad there is not an achievement for that. All these complainers do is show an elitist attitude.

  10. This whole issues is just a product of the plague that is within our society. This is just the same as political tribalism. It's the same as the people who get their rocks off by ruining people's lives because they didn't like their opinion (cancel culture). Liberalism (real liberalism) is dying, and dying fast. People don't respect individual rights anymore, they don't understand freedom, and they don't know how to just move on and ignore people they don't like.

As for the person who complained about something in a game being "devalued" well, the reality is that item had no real value. The value of an act / item in a game is personal. The individual players will asses what they find valuable within the game. I don't find any value in titles, others do. I don't find any value in glamour, others do. I don't care if everyone in the community clears an Ultimate, it wouldn't change how I view them. For me, I find value in the fun I have playing the content, and that is all. But, we are all different.

I do believe people need to quit trashing people for playing the game, and not feeling and believing the same thing as they do. They don't realize they are the villain of the story.

  11. Comes down to people are jealous. If you call them out they will begrudgingly admit that it’s not fair because they did blank. Personally how does it effect your game or how you did your accomplishment?

  12. It isn’t that big of a deal. At the end of the day, someone has just cleared some old content. That’s it.
As people have mentioned, it helps inspire people to do this sort of content. Not much wrong with that.
