Outside of people simply liking Kaiten (myself included) the 6.1 Samurai changes were unexpected and had some genuine issues. For example, they legitimately messed up the Guaranteed Crits, which didn't work with things like Dancer's Crit Buff. Yoshi even admitted they should have fixed that before 6.1, but are doing so in 6.2.
And I mean, they removed a whole move, didn't adjust the guage that used it, then assumed people would be okay with a move suddenly being removed without replacement. Removing Kaiten isnt really as bad as removing it in a messy way.
If this was a later patch and they did more to rework Samurai and its gauge, rather simply removing a move people liked and adjusting the DPS numbers, I think it would have been recieved better. Now people are upset enough, they may just have to put it back. . .
Also worth noting the efforts they put into trying to reach a single player audience with the duty support system allowing more and more story content playable solo, Varient Dungeons being soloable aswell as Island Sanctuary being solo focused.
It's interesting that they are adding the variable path dungeons, as 1.0 Toto Rak was just that. The path you picked would determine which boss you ended up at, and which treasure chests you got, so it was worth doing multiple times.
FFXIV is a complete package, nothing comes close.
I held of on hildebrand for ages but what I have done has been a lot of fun.
Just a note to the Savage release which Bellular got wrong:
Usually the .2 and .4 Savage tier releases with the Normal at the same time, and people asked for a delay for a long time just like how they do it in the .0 patch. Now they introduce a 1 week delay between the Normal and the Savage version, which gives us raiders another week to prepare, enjoy the story and such.
