  1. Responding to the title: yeah I don’t feel like I’m getting my sub’s worth. After I’m done with 7.1 content, I plan to give up my medium house for an apartment so that I can unsubscribe for a while. My partner is a wow player and tells me about some of the things added recently in terms of content and quality of life. I just find wow so difficult to get into as a new player. I can’t say I’m not envious of the enjoyment he’s been getting.

  2. I’ve been playing for four years now and I’m glad I’ve been the ultimate procrastinator 😂 there’s still stuff for me to do because I was just too lazy to do it before haha I still need that ozma mount from Eureka

  3. I just deleted Final Fantasy 14 off my computer. It's nearly been 3 months of NOTHING! They are really leaving all this content too late.! I'm already bored of waiting. Alliance raid is like once a week content! But we pay for the expansion! Which covers the story content. That article hit the nail on the head.

  4. As someone who gets easily distracted, I am not done the story yet. I find plenty of things to do there's over 10 years of content to do. For example, all last night I farmed dog mounts with a friend to get the nine tails mount.

  5. No, which is why I unsubbed. Dawntrail was so disappointing and honestly, more of the same? No thanks. Corporate greed getting in the way of player satisfaction again. Yes, there are an army of toxic positivity people out there – another reason to quit – but the game is stale and needed innovation and it got nothing bar a lame graphics update.

  6. We need 1. A better bulk storage system like WOW and GW and other games already have pull from it to craft and hold mass tabs of crafting resources… We need Instanced housing so its a more obtainable thing giving us something to invest time and resources into and make some amazing obtain only by crafting it items lureing people to level the professions up.. I am currently eyeballing pantheon earlyaccess..

  7. As someone since 2.0 and never missed a sub, there is PLENTY of content in the game worth resub.

I'm at a point I just master all my job rotation to a point I COULD be In a Savage and maybe an Ultimate Party… But just don't have the feasible time to commit the such a party.

Plus I have plenty of fishing, deep dungeon, leve quest completion, etc.

I'm probably one of the minority

  8. I dont log in every day anymore, but when I do its to play a Frontlines match to get decent exp on jobs i don't otherwise play and some rewards, maybe an alliance roulette, then an occasional FC map run on the weekends. The other content just hasn't been engaging enough for me since the end of Endwalker sadly

  9. Absolutely getting my Sub's Worth. $15 a month ($0.50 a day). That's like two coffees in Cali. Currently doing GATES in Gold Saucer (tons of people doing the same btw) for the Moogle Tomestones to buy stackable Treasure Maps for 2nd Month Downtime next patch. Then go back to Eureka and Baldesion Arsenal during 3rd and 4th month downtime. In between GATES I'm listening for S Rank Hunt calls for mounts (others are doing the Fall Guys event), and playing Baldur's Gate 3 at the same time.

  10. I am because I am part of a raid static that's both reclearing the current savage tier and clearing all the old savage content synced for fun, and I've been working on deep dungeon solos outside of that time.

The midcore players will get their dues in march as there will be a new field operation, though if I were to change anything about the current gearing system it'd be to remove the penalty for bringing someone into a savage party that has already cleared for the week that removes the loot you would've gotten, as all it's currently doing is restricting the people I can help and play with every week and it makes me sad. Not to mention making gearing alt jobs faster so I have more options during a patch cycle to play around with, like say being able to get 2 books per encounter per week after looting the first 4.

  11. I have been playing ff14 since arr and been clearing savage tiers since stormblood with the same static we usally full clear the raid 10 times for the achievement. I also resub play wow in the down time between ff14 tiers usally mplus(sometimes with a few of my ff14 static) and the stuff you said when I get tired of leveling jobs and the limited content. They both have their ups and downs. The biggest difference between them for me is I like wows open world and side content more including farming glamor and gearing alts. In ff14 when you gear an alt you just get all the gear on your main and there is no point to play it especially when it isn't as geared as your main. In wow if you want to roll an elemental shaman it forces you to actually play it and learn it from scratch , gear and do hard content in it. I love both games but they can learn alot from each other.

  12. Here’s the root of the problem – THEY ARENT INVESTING MORE BACK INTO THEIR OWN CASH COW. Instead they are deploying these funds to other projects in hopes it would garnish more profits, instead of funding more little by little to the only thing that’s keep their head under water! It’s so simple and they are oblivious to it.

  13. Probably not at this time. I’m actively subbed even when I’m not playing the game. The game 100% needs more content which has an incentive to play, exploration zones need to be more common place and perhaps needed early in the expansions life cycle. I love the game but when it pushes me away to explore other games despite wanting to play THIS game.. it feels somewhat disappointing

  14. MMO players will hammer thousands of hours of gameplay and say there was never enough. Half the people who complain have not gotten every achievement, done each quest, etc. I can see if the argument was that you don't like the content that the game provides you during downtime, but unless you have done everything FFXIV has to offer and own everything, idk. No one has to sub in lulls if you have absolutely nothing bringing you joy, unless you have a house of course.

I think its cool if when I do everything I truly enjoy to do and have to wait for more content, then I can unsub (if I don't have a house still haha!) and enjoy other games.

  15. Been playing since beta…. I've always felt this way. Same cycle of gear progression for 10 years. Its boring. The long time between patches now make it SO much worse. I keep my sub for my house and my friends.

  16. Easy. Don't blow your load in 2 seconds. I don't know why everyone blasts through the content on day 1 and then whines and cries that there's no content. Someone will have to explain to me the value of doing everything as fast as possible. As far as I know, there's no secret ending where Yshtola strips for you if you're first to finish the content. Tantric Gaming is the only way to true satisfaction.

  17. I'm seeing a lot of comments of "I'm only sub for my house" and those people just need to let the house go. If you are only paying a sub for a house than it's a waste. It will open up housing for people who consistently plays. If people who don't want to play anymore should give up their imaginary house and move on to another game. If you are dissatisfied, post in the forums and please do but don't keep playing a game you are not happy with. I don't care how much you love it, it just seems like a waste of time and money.

  18. and honestly, to continue my thoughts, one lackluster expansion story wise and people are doom and gloom and quitting, honestly, not ever expansion is going to be a banger each time and if you think it NEEDS to be, then you have too high expectations. Sure, there are problems and those problems should be addressed but there are a lot of people who are straight up quitting saying that XIV is a dying game which it isn't. Dawntrail is still in it's early age and people need to give it a chance and honestly the story isn't that bad.

  19. I actually finally got around to cancel my FFXIV subscription when I started listening to this. I've been thinking about it for over a year now and have been so bored of the formula that the only times I've really logged on is to cancel my house demolition timer.

I really hope this article and people's reaction to it pushes them to spend resources to innovate and shake things up. I really hope they give me a reason to want to play the game. For me, Dawntrail felt like cementing their stagnation.

  20. No I'm raid logging even with the alliance raid. For gear that is less than the raid you're still pigeon holed once per week for glam. I started raiding on an alt just to actually stop myself from raid logging. And I'm not even talking about bis. Even tomestones, I've got all my jobs up 100. Previous content (except ultimates which I'm not doing) there is no reason for me to get on. If gearing was easier I'd probably try to gear up other jobs but I'm not

  21. I’ve complained about this since SB… I was hated on back then for thinking this… it hasn’t changed since beta except for one thing.

Back in the day the xpac release was 2 years not 2.5 or longer. The content doesn’t come fast enough or to see isn’t enough. Content isnt repayable, rewards are mid at best, no reason for BiS except to say “I have BiS”.

This is the first patch I have not felt fomo not capping tomes and such. There is no reason. I opted to grind the fates for the squirrel mount. Could have bought it with pocket change but felt the grind there was more interesting than anything else currently in the game.

The bad feeling is that all there seems to look forward to in the near future is more Wuk Lamat….

People will say “unsubscribe if you’re not happy”…. Yeah that won’t happen because I don’t want to lose my damn FC mansion, personal house or my alt sub runner..

  22. first off, ffxiv does try to keep you subbed, they almost literally hold a gun to your head, forcing you to keep your sub if you own a house and dont wanna lose it. second, the sync has to be fixed, no one wants to play til lvl 100 just to never use their entire kit in 90% of the duty content. as badass as i feel as a dancer at synced lvl 20, i'd also like to feel badass as a pally, summoner, ninja, etc. at lvl 20.

  23. Gonna be real, I'm getting close to abandoning my medium house and just subbing once per year. Fewer and fewer of my friends are around, the FC I'm in is so quiet nowadays.

  24. Stop being weenies. Come to the Rp side. ERP is the savage and ultimate raid equivalent in the RP scene. The community is great we can make each other happy or break down in tears. Try doing different things it slows down your progression in content. Get out of the min/max mind thoughts; slow down. I still have trauma as a Wow refugee of 2020.

  25. The apathy towards XIV really does feel like a cancer that's killing the community feel of the game. I used to log and there was always tons of people to greet me, do content with, share stories – every day was an adventure and you made real genuine friendships. Now my friendslist is dead, i've switched FCs trying to find new social environments but each one has the same problem. The only time you see people talk to each other is when they lost someone from their duty and need an emergency fill. It's lonely. It feels super bad to see my friend I've not seen in weeks in, log in, say hi, save their house and log out.

  26. People say this every time. Every single expansion, every single post-msq patch. They did it in heavensward, they did it in stormblood and shadowbringers and endwalker and ofc they'll do it in dawntrail too.
    "There isn't enough content"
    "The content that exists sucks"
"The game isn't trying hard enough to make me play every single day"
like clockwork. They will continue to say this after dawntrail, and in the expansion after that.
FFXIV is a really fun game with an insane amount of evergreen content, i've been playing for years and there's still entire sectors of the game I haven't even glanced at. I still see Rathalos farm parties for the mount and that content came out in stormblood. People still play eureka and bozja. You're not supposed to want to play every single sector of the game, but it's really silly to say there's "nothing to do" in the game. I guarantee there's a plethora of content that you've simple elected not to do and ignore when you say the devs don't care enough to entertain you. It sounds like people want square enix to treadmill us, not entertain us. A reason to log in every day towards something, a system to lock us in. That's not FFXIV's strong suit, that's warcraft's. There's so much content to do and that's not even touching whether or not you have entire other characters to do it on.
There's an argument to be made that a subscription model should make an attempt to keep you locked in every day of your subscription and that's fair. However that's why people say a subscription model's value is down to the individual consumer.
FFXIV is a really fun game if you don't have a little bitch in your ear telling you it sucks constantly.

tl;dr don't be surprised you're hearing FFXIV is a treadmill game from someone who is objectively not a casual player. The game is built primarily for casuals, devs has said as much before. Don't marry yourself to a game and pick up a side game or get a job or something.

  27. The problem I think FFXIV has is there is no mid core content, at all. U go from MSQ , extreme trials, to raids , to savage , to ultimates. And unpopular opinion maybe but dungeons and alliance raids just don’t count here IMO. They should come out with some way to progression outside of raiding ( and I am talking as someone who enjoys character progression) if there is an item I can get that will make me stronger that will make getting the next item easier via savage or other. Then there should be some kind of content to do that. Farming tombstones is just boring. I find myself only logging on for raid nights because I just jump around limsa. I also understand that not everyone plays the game the same. But we need somthing. Dungeons plus or even savage extremes or idk something anything.

  28. The FFXIV community should have listened to the players who had major concerns with the direction of FFXIV. Instead, they ridiculed and criticized these players.

Fast forward, and here we are now. Current players complaining about the same thing people spoke about back at the end of Shadowbringers.

  29. If you don't have stuff to do take a break, trust me if you enjoy FF you don't want it to go F2P, F2P models invite a bunch of problems you don't want in your game and the most important function is that it works as a filter, it keeps a lot of the broke toxic trash out, you don't want that filter gone
