I had to find a way to talk about the Bait Box again, right?

I would kill for something like Guild Wars 2 Material Bank system for crafting materials. It just.. it's so nice. You can store all your crafted things in there up to a certain amount, you pull items FROM it to craft while at a crafting station, it won't clog your inventory and it's a SHARED BANK.. meaning you can also use it on alts.
Just.. yes, all my yes.
Building off your friend list recommendation: Linkshells
Linkshells are right there alongside the friend list in dire need of being brought out of the 20th century. The max member limits plus not being available if you DC travel…just to name a couple things.
Oh, cross region PF when? Would like to see everything for NA from one PF instead of needing to hop to Aether to do any content at this point.
I have wanted to try some of these Japanese snack boxes, but they have generally been out of my price range and I just couldn't justify paying for something like that month to month.
And for the Unreal content, YES! I would love to be able to replay some of the past fights with that seat of your pants adrenaline going.
And being able to add notes to friends list would be great to, for people like me who forget who someone was unless I interact with them a lot. I would be nice to have a little note to remind myself where we met and what we talked about.
Sadly this game has become the most woke mmorpg in history.
Rin acknowledging and mentioning Destiny more than Bungie has in the last year… Chills…
The problem is that most of your suggestions only affect very late game players. I agree with having a separate inventory for bait and portraits not breaking constantly, but things like "materia plates" for multiple jobs is totally unnecessary.
APs is a cool idea, i dont how like degenerates and perverts use them =(
The materia thing hasn't affected me much since I'm a tank as main, but it does come up a little when I go GNB. Unlike other tanks, GNB usually needs some skill speed for optimal rotation.
Some QoL I'd love in the game:
– Search boxes on menus, including game/character settings, either highlighting or filtering what's in the query, be it items or options.
– Interacting with NPCs while mounted in the overworld.
– Revamping the shop menus. Get rid of the DoW1 DoW2 DoM options and use the interface from the Rowena Representative's instead where applicable for the least, or a full revamp with the new UI elements from Island Sanctuary/Mogpendium.
Yes please!
I want to be able to glamour up gear regardless of class. Also more glamour slots pls 🙏
Regarding inventory space – FFXIV should look at what Guild Wars 2 does. In GW2, you have 'material storage' where you are able to store (by default) up to 250 of each material and use in crafting without having them in your specific bags. I play GW2 and FFXIV and enjoy crafting in both, but have a less stressful time of it in GW2 due to that material storage.
imo they should work on making datacenter travel better
Yeah, I agree. I think adventure plates and portraits were an awesome social edition.
I think a good future step for them is to just coalesce the glamour dresser into a full blown character-bound skin wardrobe similar to Guild Wars 2, allowing you to consume the gear to permanently unlock the skin. It would encourage people to do all content to unlock everything available and make fashion much more robust.
PvP, but you will probably say diadem or something.
The friends and blacklist is so outdated…and I might be in the minority but 200 friends is way too low a number.
i remember one player asked about more grand companie rank last year from Yoshi-P and he said they don't know what to do/give with the higher ranks.
Blue Mage;
I want a 100% redone BLU that actually is balanced as a FULL FFXIV job. None of this "oh it'd be too hard to balance" crap, as most spells for BLU are basically just identical spells that function mostly as glamour for spells or very niche Carnivale uses, while the "OP BLU" has spells like Angel Whisper, which has a cooldown, unlike EVERY OTHER RAISE IN THE GAME. It's like there's one dev team trying to balance BLU while another tries to make it OP or unique.
One solution: separate BLU from the Carnivale and the rest of the game.
Could do this several ways;
1- Require certain spells to join DF (the game ALREADY does this with most BLU quests, just make it apply to DF as well), then LOCK certain spells (the ones required) to be set while in PF. Congrats, now you ONLY have to balance those spells for current content.
2- Similar to 1, have 1-3 Spell Sets (depending on if they want to bother keeping BLU able to function with 3 roles) that you equip when you decide to do DF, these sets would adjust like normal jobs' abilities. Basically; think of how PvP has its own set of abilities, do this, but for BLU in normal content.
3- Separate BLU from Carnivale BLU to normal content BLU in the form of a new job. FF & SE have plenty of jobs similar to BLU, but with different names; Vampire (BD), Nekomancer (BD2), Gun Mage (X-2), Warrior (OT2). Could even make this new "BLU" a tank, so it is literally a
BlueMage.I'd also suggest looking at FFE (Final Fantasy Explorers) for how to balance BLU while maintaining its identity as that game did an exceptional job.
tl;dr- I mained BLU in FF11 for fourteen years, it is my favorite FF job in all it's iterations… except for in FF14 because I cannot main it and it's just a very watered down version of 11's BLU (there are no stat changes based on spells equipped nor are there passive skills unlocked by equipping certain combos, not to mention no access to dual wielding swords).
about the currency equivalent for bait dyes and materia. THERE'S CATALYSTS. They take no inventory space, are in a nice list in your inventory and can be taken out and sold! Why is that system not reused for the dyes and bait? Please SE, my inventory is crying.
I would love the mixed inventory for crafting, but with the way these inventories seem function, they'd probably have to recode them.
As for the items shifted to currency instead, you can already sell and buy crystals and shards on the MB, so I feel like they COULD do that.
I definitely want some inventory consolidation. ESPECIALLY old normal raid tokens. Literally Normal Raid roulette ends in a mad dash to leave the instance before you get dumped with junk.
The friends list is a mess, and I hope theres at least a token team of a few devs working at it already because it does need an overhaul.
I also feel like there are A LOT of items that should be storeable in the Armoire. The first set of class relic armor goes in but they stopped doing that all together. Relics or at least their replicas would make infinite sense. On the OTHER OTHER HAND, Id like an overhaul of the glam mechanics. I'm not entirely certain of the backend, I'm not a programmer, but I'd imagine my dream desires conflict with what sounds like current glamour methods being directly integrated with the equipment system.
I need to be able to put notes on the names in my blacklist because some of these people I can't remember why they're there. Most of them are probably in there due to PF/farm party shenanigans where they griefed or sandbagged and I just didn't want them showing up in my listings anymore but that's pretty different from the people I've blacklisted for personal reasons.
And sometimes it is just funny;
A couple weeks back I went to a different server for a hunt train and had the conductor blacklisted so I just couldn't see relays, still can't remember why they're there, but it was actually kinda fun to just follow the train visually instead of hovering over the chat box the whole time.
Hell, I've had to blacklist a few people in my local linkshells because they keep spamming bad relays without getting kicked. Had someone spam the same Churning Mist location every 40 minutes for several hours one day. I can't tell if those are malicious or just mis-clicking a macro but they never once apologized or corrected it and it kept going for weeks.
For things like dyes and the fact of being sellables, they could put them in the same spot as fragment/crystals used for crafting
Chat Bubbles. Please just give us chat bubbles. the assets are all already in the game, Npcs can use them. Just give us the option.
also, give every inventory and achievement menu the ctrl f Feature. so we can search stuff on the fly.
I'd love to see dyes and stuff as a currency, that would save so much inventory space. And a system like this is already in the game, i.e. crystals. You can keep them in their own little menu, or pull them out if you need to sell them. Easy.
something i've talked my girlfriend's ears off is the syncing issue! i've even seen new players complain that the earlier content is too easy and they just breeze right through it. i remember when my friends got me into ff14, they'd talk about how x was an amazing fight back in the day, or oh god this extreme was something else. and it's such ashame that even with ilvl sync, things are way too easy, entire phases skipped, it's just not a challenge. not helped when especially in ARR they talk a big lot about how dangerous primals are… only for them to go down in just a couple of minutes, without even having to do most of their mechanics. i even remember a sporut in chat going "…is that it?!?" after a trial, which made me laugh, but it's also a sign that i really wish they'd either fine tune the sync to truly make it feel like how it was back then, or at least make that an option for people, like you suggested in the video, but even for just casual things like the dungeons and trials from MSQ.
This covers a lot of what I've been thinking about lately. The game just needs an overhaul to its UI in general. My hope is now that the Graphics overhaul is nearly here they'll start working on some of the janky old menus that have been around since the game's relaunch in 2013. They're not in a mad rush to make a functional game out of a previous failure so maybe they can take the time to untangle some of that old spaghetti code that's caused so many problems for them. This may mean we won't see a huge amount before the end of 7.x or maybe even into 8.x but I'm hoping it's near the top of their priority list.
When it comes to inventory it should be overhauld so you have a bag for gathering and crafting where there is 1 slot for each item you can gather/ create.
And make it so you can switch between maps within maps with left and right click so that you don't have to click in the upper left corner of the map to get to the world map for example.
