  1. As a pretty new sprout in Braxflox's Longstop a couple years ago, I had a player out of nowhere start ranting about how disgusting it was that the rest of the party was multiboxing and how we were all going to be banned. They never elaborated on why they thought that other than to say how obvious it was, but they seemed about as upset as I was confused.

  2. I've gotten a very agro healer who failed every mechanic on the dungeon boss and demanded I, as red mage, raise them. I'm not the type to leave someone dead because I think they're bad, but we were in a level 60 dungeon, where I simply did not have verraise. I did have vercure though so after a few resets on healer deaths the rest of us silently agreed to stop resetting and let me be healer.

  3. I once had a run in World of Darkness and the tank in my alliance would not stop spamming countdowns and ready checks every 30 seconds it was genuinely hilarious. He was asked kindly to stop only for him to just keep on doing it and be in utter silence

  4. The sad part is the sprout healer saying esuna isn't needed is only a little wrong. There's probably less than 5 fights in the entire game (all of those being optional high end duties) where not having esuna actually causes a wipe. The absolute state of extra actions in this game is tragic. Probably why E8S is and probably always will be the best savage fight in this game. Cleanses, stuns, AND silences?! In my Final Fantasy?!

  5. Fair Warning: This is a long one.
I was hitting up the Duty Roulette, doing some PLD leveling. Where i got Tower of Zot. After i connected, i noticed the party was further ahead past the first boss encounter.
After catching up to them, i proceeded to run ahead and pull the adds. That was until the Healer started yelling at me.

    Healer: "Bro, stop griefing"

I thought at the time that i forgot to turn tank stance on, but it was already on. It was then i noticed that the DPS players were just standing in the corridor doing nothing. Meanwhile the healer (White Mage) is casting Cure 3 over and over again until he ran out of mana. We wiped.

After Respawning i asked what i was doing wrong and he said that i was "pulling all the enemies towards me" making it difficult for him to heal me. No joke.

So i offered to pull less to make it easier for him and for some reason he took that as an insult and started calling me a garbage tank. And then he said if i don't stop trolling and do my duty as a tank he would report me. (Also the DPS's were completely quiet the entire time)

So we tried again, i pulled less and once again the two DPS's were just standing in the corridor doing nothing while the healer is spamming Cure 3 over and over again. We didn't wipe that time.
Afterwards i tell the healer to use anything else other than Cure 3. As a White Mage Player myself i started listing all the WHM spells he can use instead and his response's were "Not Needed and Already used them". (Which is bullshit because he has never used the lilies, asylum or regen) Then he quite possibly said the dumbest thing i've heard so far:

Healer: "You're a PLD right? Can't you heal yourself?!"

At This point, i'm fed up with all of them. But i still got a duty to perform. So after pulling the next group of adds in the next room, we wipe once again. Then the healer starts a votekick on me and i'm at my limit. i'm just about to type out a raged filled comment until he messaged something that just shocked me.

Healer: "This is the third time we had to kick a tank in this session! Seriously is it really that hard for you fucking brainlets to play tank right?! Go back to COD where you belong!"

After that i was booted back to Radz-at Han. Just so everyone knows, i have never had any complaints when i played as a tank and this was the first time i got booted for doing my job. It just boggles the mind on what these people were thinking. Which brings up another question, how have they made it this far into the game with their toxic behavior and questionable playing skills?

  6. Makes me wonder how many times my very obviously joking saying, "[main part of of job''s rotation] is a crutch" and it set people off.

I don't understand the people who refuse to use major part of their kit because "It's not RP flavor" for them. WHY ARE YOU PLAYING THAT JOB THEN?

My one character is magically inept, similar to Thancred. Does that mean I don't use Confiteor as PLD? Of course not!

My other character is, in my canon, a blizzard harpy, but she still uses Titan and Ifrit, because I spun it those egis represent personal struggles she overcame in her life. Hell, Phoenix represents her mother (as opposed to the game's canon of it being Lousioix).

If you're gonna roleplay with your gameplay, play a job that fits your story, for the love of The Twelve!

  7. One time on an EW hunt train, I made a joke about people getting frozen by Aegeiros and someone sent me a tell with anti COVID vax propaganda. It sounds out of context but there is literally no additional context I could provide that would make it make any more sense.

  8. I wish my bad experience with the maid dress was being insulted for wearing it, when I was just starting to level astro and thought the maid dress was cute so used it as a filler glam. In aurum vale a male au ra tank started hitting on me, I was too uncomfortable to just respond truthfully and funnily "I'm a lesbian" which I should've done in hindsight, and since I have never worn the maid dress outside of screwing around with friends.

  9. This reminds me of the time someone randomly called me a groomer in Limsa and I was so upset I stopped playing the game for weeks until a friend told me it was just a Xaela meme.

OMFG I had this so many times. I'm a 15+ year veteren healer main. i've gone through this so many times I just don't even bother wasting my time trying to talk back to idiot tanks like this particular tank in the clip. I just put them on block and just heal away.

Also had this similar thing happen to me right as i finished decorating my house. Had my irl partner help me with decorating and we were just relaxing when a naked F.Aura walked in on us. my wifey chased her off angrily XD

  11. That black mage hot take, I have mixed feelings about because, on one hand, that guy is dumb for not using his ley lines…. but on the other hand, I have a bad habit of not using my ley lines cause a LOT of the fights in EW require a LOT of movement… and If my ley lines are down, and the safe area is on THE OTHER SIDE of the arena… I'm gonna choose not make the healer hate me and move to the safe spot XD

  12. When I was trying to beat Shinryu story mode not long after Stormblood launch I kept wiping because I would several get parties in Duty Finder full of people who didn't want to watch guides and expected there to always be someone to explain mechanics them. After several runs that ran out of time on the duty, so I decided to set up my own Party Finder and ask that people actually know the mechanics for the fight.
After waiting twenty or so minutes one person joins the PF just to say that asking people to watch a guide for the MSQ was like asking them to spoil themselves beforehand and then left before I could respond. I was to tell them that anyone who cares about spoilers would have already known the identity of the boss by watching the cutscene before unlocking the trial, or looking at the DF icon that shows Shinryu right there.
I can only assume he was idiot or a troll.

  13. I know when I first played ff14, as a sprout, two things happened, one – called slurs and told to unalive because I killed a low level wasp near limsa (blue mage spell guy), i was like level 9 ?, then a while later in stone vigil i was sprout tanking my first time in stone vigil, pulling one group at a time as my armour was not good, and the dragoon yelled at me and said I was a terrible tank

  14. I remember in FF XI one time someone in party was hitting a friend of mine pretty hard with innuendos and creepiness. In a burst of inspiration I pretended that my friend was a teen and I was her father. I told the party this, and then asked the person in question to stop harassing my "daughter". Things got awkward and amusing real quick. XD

Ya know… this is probably a good thing in some ways, but I honestly think this is the REAL issue with FFXIV.

if you like doing these things:
    Dungeons
    PVP
    Gold Saucer
    Eureka
    Bozja
    Roulettes
    Trials
    Normal Raids
    and sometimes Alliance Raids

GL having any sort of human interaction, everyone else is a bot and they won't respond to you no matter how much heinous shit you say, so go wild.

It honestly makes me sad because, why do I have to go dig some rando out of limsa to go do something, rather than find friends in the thing that I want to do????

  16. Only interaction I can remember worth calling strange was caused by, I think, a language barrier. I was dpsing in Brayflox Longstop. The tank didn't use tank stance so I pulled aggro. I told them politely that they need to put on tank stance and explained how to do so, but the entire rest of the party blamed me. I started slowing down for several seconds between attacks, but still accidentally pulled aggro. After several minutes of trying to explain and failing to be understood, I told them "I'm sorry, I don't think I can help you" and left.

  17. Most memorable for me was a random coming up to me when i was just starting to learn savage content and proper rotations, i made a mistake and they sent me a tell saying that they "should kick my fucking ass for that"

Now i overthink way to heavily about my ability to perform in game

  18. Probably the most baffling experience I had was during some Unsynced Seat of Sacrifice. This was back in 6.1, so it wasn’t the easiest thing but it was very doable as long as everyone used markers. We got in, assigned clocks and markers, got in position, pulled, and then one of the healers started screaming in chat to “remove it,” referring to the 1 marker on them. This caused a wipe due to them not even wanting to move or attack out of what I can only assume was spite… I figured they were salty, and instantly after they left the duty, everyone quickly began to follow expecting another PF to go up. I said “I guess they were salty?” out of pure confusion trying to see what was going on shortly after I left… not realizing they hadn’t instantly left like most people in this case when PF’ing normally do, as they were apparently waiting for everyone. I was even more perplexed after noticing this, only for them to respond with a “…”, before calling me a slur, then finally leaving the party properly.

I’ve never seen this healer again, but if I ever do, I’m genuinely hoping to just talk with them just to understand what was going on. I’ve never seen someone so traumatized by something so normalized in raiding, before or after…
