  1. Here's a question, I'm pretty sure you get a month of sub time when you buy the starter edition on different platforms (PC, PlayStation, Mac), and would assume Xbox is no different. Does that mean I could get a free month from just claiming the starter edition through gamepass?

  2. BTW, if it isn't apparent, Xbox users who are planning on buying additional goods and services should link their FFXIV account to a PC version in addition to their Xbox version. This will circumvent the need for the XIV coin and probably make things cheaper, if at the very least convenient.

  4. The other thing that's fantastic about the pre-order earrings is that they scale to be the BiS item level for whatever level you're at, which means you don't to worry about getting earrings at all until you actually reach level 80+ content.

  5. I really don’t see what hood comes of putting this on Xbox a decade late; if you wanted to play you likely did by now, and Xbox gamers are 90% sports and 3rd person shooters hence why Xbox can’t break into the Japanese market. And xpass seems like a horrible idea, I personally don’t want to run roulette with people that don’t know or care enough to learn to play the game cuz it’s a “free” game to them and we all see how f2p games end up in terms of community

  6. Dynamis might be the least populated but it's still a very active DC, one of the main differences compared to the other DCs is that in Dynamis, you have to rely a lot on the Party Finder to do content. If you want to do content using the Duty Finder, sure you will have a hard time since queue times can get a bit frustrating (unless you're a Tank/Healer of course cuz then instant queue pop most of the time lol) and other activities like Alliance Raids are pretty much impossible to get using the Duty Finder. On the other hand, Dynamis has lots of space for housing, so if you think you might be interested into that, Dynamis might be your DC since getting a house on the populated DCs is pretty much impossible, you might get lucky with Small houses but Medium/Large plots are pretty much impossible to get, as soon as one of those opens up you will be competing with tons of people over it. As a Dynamis player, the only reason I find myself doing DC travel is for very specific reasons, for example I want to farm an Alliance Raid for glams and I just want to do said AR over and over and over and over again or when I want to do Eureka/Bozja stuff since in populated DCs those areas tend to have more than enough people to go there and chill, maybe spending an afternoon raging on Frontlines when I feel like doing those and thats pretty much it, for anything else like your daily roulettes, weekly raids, hunt trains, FATE farming, ocean fishing, and even CC can be done on Dynamis. So basically Dynamis is a small-scale low-pop DC where you can do most stuff in the game but you have to work a tiny bit harder to find Dynamis-based communities to do the activities you enjoy, an example of this is CC where people usually organize and schedule CC events during weekends to make sure most people are queueing for CC on the same time period and have some fun doing that PvP content.

So I would say that if you're more of a "solo" player that can't be bothered with interacting with others and it's fine doing activities mostly queueing for them on the Duty Finder while also like the feeling like you're living on a big busy bustling city, then Aether/Crystal DCs will feel better for you. On the other hand, if you like the idea of having to talk to people and engage more into the "social" aspect of finding communities to do the activities you enjoy while also you like the idea of being on a DC that feels like a small and calm town on the countryside where it feels like everyone knows each other and also like the idea of having an easier time getting a plot for housing, then Dynamis is your DC.

Remember that for some things like finding a Free Company (our version of clan/guilds), housing and retainers (retainers being the NPCs you hire and functions as both your "bank" and at the same time, NPCs you send on missions for rewards), those things are based exclusively to the Data Center and World your character is based, you can still interact with your FC if you're on the same Data Center but for the rest of things you have to be on the same World your character lives. Please take that into consideration. For anything else you can safely do DC/World traveling as much as you want. Personally I came to Dynamis because I just wanted to have a house and my plan was just to stay on Dynamis for the house and do everything else on Aether/Crystal DCs but the Dynamis community is so good at organizing stuff and they're so chill that now I find myself rarely doing DC travel and now I do most stuff on Dynamis nowadays and this has improved a lot since more and more people have started to move here.

  7. 8:30 So you get that preferred world XP bonus even when you're not actually playing on that world? It just applies wherever you play, and is based on what your home world is? I figure people from other worlds playing on the preferred worlds don't get the bonus while they're there

  8. Being FORCED to make payments via a freemium-esque currency is certainly distasteful. Reworking how the game works just so that Microsoft, with their tiniest marketshare, gets a cut, is Square Enix doing them a favor they don't really deserve. Microsoft should've played by the same terms other platforms have to play by, or just not get the game at all. They'd been wanting to get FFXIV on their platform for so long, Square Enix had the leverage to make them finally agree to their terms, the same ones they used with Sony. But Square Enix caved, and so the continued screwing of Xbox players as a people is now allowed by commission of both companies, and not just the usual 1

  9. Haha I was wondering how complicate this would be and I was not disappointed 😉 Oh dear SE why you have to always create this wall in front of the new FFXIV players…

  10. I don't understand why they did an Xbox version to be frank. Xbox has the lowest playerbase and to make things worse you need game pass plus a ff14 sub which at the lowest is almost $30 a month to play. That pretty much kills most of the subscriptions I feel that could have been made on Xbox. Not only this but it shows that the new Square Enix president has no morals since he pretty much caved completely to all of Microsofts demands that has kept 14 off the platform previously.
