  1. Everyone has been asking regarding my static. This is a full conclusive video that explains and highlights all the issues aswell as my own personal mistakes that have effected this static negatively. It is my first time leading a group, I have failed them in many ways, but some made it extremely unbearable. This is the ultimate story behind the scenes and the tragedy of 'The Creed'

    Thank you.

We are also in a new static at the moment and I played with them for the first time on stream, they are marvelous and is exactly what I have been looking for. Its been a ride everyone.

  2. See this is the difference between a prolific static group & and group of FC friends trying to do a Savage/Extreme. Friends tend to just shrug off a wipe, no matter if its done multiple times to the point the encounter times out. In some occasions this is why I favor FF14 over WoW. WoW may in some occasions have better raids but FF14 has better people…sometimes. Alninio if you want to try your hand at Savage/Extreme/Ultimate ever again I recommend going with friends, not a static. Static's tend to have some of the worst parts of a toxic playerbase in that even the slightest mistake makes them rage quit. Those in general are not very good people imho.

  3. I'm sorry to hear this.
I am a part of a static, one that I've been on for close to a year now actually. I was basically invited to sub in for a friend's static in April of last year and afterwards was invited to trial to be the main tank for the party since the main tank of the group decided to leave due to IRL circumstances. They liked the stuff that I brought to the team and I liked the environment that they brought.
We've been through Edens Promise, we beat our first Ultimates together, and now we're progging through P4S and will be hitting the ground running for Dragonsong Ultimate.
I honestly got really lucky that I was able to join this group. Everyone was chill. There were no egos at all (one of our DPS was Top 1 NINJA for UCoB and Top 4 in TEA in North America). We didn't have a static/raid leader, per se. We are all expected to do our job and be responsible. We respect each other's opinions and we've basically became the best of friends. I basically only interact with these same people outside of work for almost a year.
I think the important thing is, now that you've experienced how it is being a raid leader and what comes with it, is that now you know what to look out for and what to expect. I hope that the next time you get to make a static, you'll be more successful the second time around.

  4. I feel lucky to have found my raid team. We have been together for almost 7 years now and one of the girl there I have known since day 1 in Raiding back when T1 was available. We still enjoy eachother's company after all these years and we are still filled with laughter each time we are raiding.

  5. I was both guild leader and raid leader for a WoW mythic raiding guild for a couple years and it ended pretty badly. Lost of some old friends. It's tough but I guarantee you'll look back at this as an important learning experience that has and will continue to make you a better person.

  6. It's unfortunate, but this kind of drama is common. It was typical in WoW raiding. It is typical here in FFXIV.
I think this is also why the devs don't want ACT being publicly "used" with the general community. This kind of 'git gud' mentality and toxicity stays in the individual static groups and FCs.
I stopped raiding in WoW during WotLK, left the game entirely during BfA. I tried raiding with an FC when I came to FFXIV in 2014 and found raid guild dramas and elitist toxicity are the exact same here (despite FFXIV community's reputation). I have not been interested in any 'serious' raiding since then and have found more enjoyable and relaxing endgame options in FF14

  7. Ah man – that sucks. Finding a group that gels well with each other I find is the biggest thing with how enjoyable things are. I also find that some people just need to stop and think, like there is nothing wrong with voicing your opinion and disagreeing, as long respectful and they don't continue to be overbearing. Hope you find a group that is more understanding of each other and more importantly, just have fun. It's refreshing that you can reflect on this experience.

  8. Being in a static can be stressful, leading a static is another level above that.

Here's some tips based on what I've found over the years in case you do try again if you'd like!
    – In my time I've always found that when recruiting members raid team synergy is more important than initial skill. Rotations, combos, and strats can be taught, a better personality and mindset can't be so easily.
    – If they can't make the raid times scheduled, don't let them in. Take care of the 7 members who can be consistent vs the 1 trial who can't. If they do have to miss or they're going to be late give a prior heads up at least.
    – Keep the raid leading persona and the friend persona reasonably separate. They can overlap of course, but when you have to put your foot down the team should understand it's not personal, you are making sure the team stays together and stays running smoothly. You will be the bad guy sometimes, but just because they aren't in the raid team doesn't mean you can't still be friends.
    – Set your boundaries and personal rules down, and do not let anyone cross them.

I hope the new static works out better for you especially with the experience you've gained from this!
Good luck Alninio I've been lurking and rooting for you from the sidelines!

  9. I'm sorry to hear that happened. Statics are great, but they can bring a lot of drama also. Statics require a lot of chemistry between everyone, and when it doesn't work it can go so bad. T.T It sounds like you learned a lot from it though, and that's really the best you can take from it. Learn and apply that learning in the future. Seems like your new static is much better for you though, so hopefully your progress will be more fun than stress from now on!

  10. I don't do anything Extreme or Savage anymore because of an experience I had before. I was repeatedly got yelled at and was insulted for doing the same mistake although it's just like our third try in progging. I developed anxiety and the fear of making mistakes and holding back the others because of it. In the earlier days after the incident, I literally shake whenever raids are being mentioned. I thought to myself I was playing the game to have fun and enjoy the game the way I wanted to, not to suffer like this so I just stopped doing raids altogether. But these kinds of situation also applies to FCs. I also eventually left mine because I couldn't handle the toxicity anymore and the root cause of that toxicity was also raiding. Some people in our FC who had cleared difficult raids had their accomplishments go way over their heads and was power tripping the rest, like bossing around, belittling other fc members especially those who do not do raids because of their overboosted ego. What was once an FC meant for any players regardless of the content they enjoy became centered in raiding. It came to a point where if you don't raid, you're out of their inner circle. They will ignore you even though you are trying to reach out to them. I've had enough and just left. Now I'm roaming Eitherys in solitude and I've never been happier.

  11. Also remember. Why should we care THAT much about clearing a raid?
The gears itself will become obsolete at the next patch / expansion. Your weeks of progging will become useless if you ONLY aim for the clears and gears.

What you aim should be friendship between raid members. THOSE can't be replaced by anything.

    Give love not hate <3

  12. So sad, you had to make that experience…
Raiding should be fun and exciting. But sometimes the pressure gets people to be toxic. We decided to build up a static inside of our FC …. I have been pestering my friends for so long, but they have never been interested in Raiding. Now I have a static of my own, we are really cool and Chill. But my friends suddenly decided they want to Raid now to….and accuse me of leaving them behind 😭
Somehow Raiding seems to lead to people getting hurt….

  13. Hey man im sorry to hear about what you went through. My static managed to clear the raid tier around the first month and thou we had hiccups here and there, it was no where near what you dealt with. Imma share some tips on how you would ideally run a static based on what my s-lead did.

Hiring (Treat it like a job interview)
    1. Are they good enough (check their fflogs)
    2. Can they work well with others (Do an extreme run with them and see if they make misakes and how they carry themselves when you give them feedback)
    3. Can they handle constructive critism? (People will make mistakes in Savage regardless of how experienced you are, after all it's called "Savage" for a reason)

    When raiding (Discipline is Everything)
    1. Do they make it on time? (You start looking for a replace in PF if people dont show up with in 15 mins, unless they tell you they will be late before hand, if they are constantly late you need to let them know what you need them to do better)
    2. PF strates are the most effective for Prog (Elmo is a bad strate for any scenario)
    3. People need to be taking receiving critisim well from others (Everyone will eat a mechanic)
    4. Zero and I mean zero tolereance to BS (LMAO rng schedule? You should have given that person an rng of getting kicked every time he did that)
    5. No Disrespect of any kind (No much should be said here)
    6. Are you having fun? (Despite needing discipline, the biggest factor is Savage is to enjoy yourself)

Don't stress too much, every static leader goes through this, so don't take what you experienced as a bad thing but rather learn from it.

Love your content man stuff like that break my heart.

  14. I knew a serious raider guy. His static broke due to drama. I think someone had a meltdown because the group wont reset the fight after they died. He wanted a good parse I think. After that, he lost interest in the game and just quit.

  15. i've been joining various of static, but i ended up cannot communicate well with them, because i'm a serious person when raiding
i always speaking up about mit/healing, but i cannot speak with mic due to anxious in vc (i need some long building trust and friendship to be able speak with them)
the most i'm afraid is becoming burden with them due to i'm failing mechs, which is my personality to become better but without joy moment
all i can do is to become useful for team, that is more than enough

in the end, i'm just a traveller raider with lone wolf persona

  16. Its hit or miss. I miss my ARR static, we had so many good moments together and we werent a weekly raid clear type, was fun to wipe along side them. Then HW broke me, and I was never able to be on a real static again.

  17. Really sad to hear this. Ego is a ruining factor in any relationship… But you shouldnt apologize to being human: we all make mistakes. And if a friendship ends because you misjudged a schedule… Excuse me???

And you're right: the tone is important. Being yelled at is a big no-go in any group for me: I've been in two traid groups, sofar, the 1st being more losely, the other a "real" static. And though the 1st one had some grumpy personages and were overall very "foul-mouthed", it was still all in good faith and nobody got dressed down or yelled at for making mistakes. And my current static… we wiped at Phoinix four or five weeks straight, but despite the frustration and banging-our-heads-on-the-table, we all kept being civil and just… kept going.

Anyway, hindsight is 20/20. You always know better afterwarts. This reminds me a little bit about Alphinaud and his failings with the Crystal Braves… and how, in post-Shadowbringers, he tries to face his failure and get something good out of it.

  18. I'm sorry you had this experience Nino. Every mistake is a learning experience and I'm glad you are happy with your new static! I know you have a good heart, Ninio. You're not disingenuious. You just want to have a good time playing some 14, and raiding. Everyone makes mistakes, nobody's perfect. I can see you're a good guy and try to do the right thing. At least now you are that much more wiser now. Again, I'm sorry you had to go thru this 🙁

  19. This is also a reason I don't join statics. Not because of the stress of the fight but I am that one guy who's schedule is unreliable. I know my schedule is unreliable and will not have the team schedule around me. That isn't fair to the potential team mates. My schedule is unreliable because my irl job takes precedence over any video game and I get called in at odd times and even on my scheduled day off. I would love to be able to do savages but it will not happen any time soon and I have to be the grown up in that situation about the choices I have to make.

  20. Hope you find a good team going forward. Speaking about what got wrong in the past is the first step to not make the same mistakes in the future. Cheers to all and don't forget to try to be a better person today then the one you were yesterday <3

  21. A huge part of being in a static, whether you're the leader or not, is communication as you are now no doubt aware of. I've been in same-ish situation twice. I raided with an ex both times on my end and sadly with other toxic members, they helped in ending my raiding career. There's only so much a raid leader can solve when the group has such problems.

My first raid group was with my fc and my first ex. We had problems with a domineering main healer, a toxic tank and in private for me, my ex. My ex was extremely critical of the group but he would never put in his 2 cents to help the group and held our relationship as hostage if I didn't no-life the game to become a better dps to make up for our lack of progress. I dreaded going to raid because of all the pressure and negativity, but once i began having dreams of raid and stressing out about it, I left.

In my second raid group, my second ex was an obnoxious try-hard who never shut up in raid. It was hard to focus and we wiped sometimes because of him. He liked to point out everyone's mistakes but never his own. He began making raid personal, which in turn made everyone hate him but he was ever gentle to our off-healer (who happened to be a well known streamer). He defended her tooth and nail and told everyone to unsub and kill themselves if they deigned to hurt her feelings. He played to her audience and sometimes sabotaged our fights to get her followers to like him. Not wanting to feel like the sidechick anymore or deal with the toxic atmosphere he was breeding because of her, I left that group too.

Sorry, long story but know that there will always be problematic groups. You tried. You made mistakes, but so did they. Do understand that the whole group should have communicated to each other as well and not just you to solve the problems. I hope your new group is a better fit for you.

  22. I have been a part of three statics. Right now, I am not raiding due to lack of time.

In my experience, you need to find a static with like-minded people. Vetting the people might not be just "can you beat the SSS dummy", or "let me see your logs". It's also about gauging how seriously they want to take it, how many times they want to meet, how available they are. One of my statics broke up because we began by meeting twice a week because we worked full-time, but when on the second phase of the final floor they wanted to meet more times a week and were adamant about it.

Another of my statics broke up because we had finished the raid tier, so we agreed we were not going to try TEA before the next raid came out. I later find out they did go into TEA, which is fine. But Then they told us they were too deep into TEA to do the current tier, which is still fine since I could wait… then I found out they cleared the current raid tier by pugging people to replace a couple members. Last I heard, they broke up because the raid leader had actually been orchestrating a bunch of shitty things, such as bringing her inexperienced boyfriend in to heal and forcing the group to shift jobs around.

Right now, I'm kinda chilling. Wish I could do the Savage fights, but I'd rather do that than be bitched about for having a green parse XD

  23. People just take raiding too seriously. The reality is these raids are only bis for a few months until the next tier comes out. Unfortunately this happens to a lot of people when trying to keep a static together.
