idk i mean, aren't ffxiv geomancers basically just astrologists?
So I think this idea was previously a good one, and it may still be but im so conflicted right now.
While doing the DPS role quests in limsa two MASSIVE things stuck out to me.
1. Its no secret that Merlwyb's class is that of the 1.0 Musketeer(FFXI Corsair) which STILL has a guild in Limsa and being that its still there we can assume it was cut from either 2.0 or 3.0 (because Machinist). HOWEVER, in these role quests not only did we get a job DESCRIPTION (Musketeer/Corsair/etc. is better for close range combat than machinist which is long range) but we ALSO got serious job ACTIONS in the final fight. And they looked sick.
People have been asking for a Musketeer/Corsair since they knew it was cut, and they loved it in FFXI. I can't help but wonder if they are thinking about it again. That or they are trolling us.
2. Before Endwalker's jobs trailer live letter came out, there was one job that people were speculating on HARD. This job was the Alchemist. Tons of content creators were speculating it and idr but i believe there is some connection to the job and the Crystarium. In the final fight, we see the Goblin character attacking AND healing via potions. Some aoe, some single. This was what for months people were speculating the alchemist to do.
Again, I cannot tell if this is foreshadowing or trolling, but I have a strong suspicion that the devs directly know what they are doing with these. That plus the thought of maybe learning an entire job from a goblin npc seems like a cool and funny idea.
I'm thinking this geomancer idea is good… But I think we'll get another job that shares the scouting gear. So one magic dps and one melee dps. Tanks and healers are in a good place for variety.
We're definitely going to get a Scouting Armor job next xpac. If we get a second Job at all it could be a Caster.

I would really love to see a Melee Magic class, like the spell fencer. It's unlikely at this point, but the fact that all caster jobs are still called "Ranged Magical DPS" instead of just "magtical DPS" gives me the faintest spark of hope.
Yeah the idea of Geomancer has been floating for a few years and I would love that but I'd personally also love a TIME MAGE as a caster alternative.
Now that summoner's lost DoTs it'd be a great gameplay addition that we're now lacking. Also G'raha being basically a time mage with all of his spells could smoothly pick up the job. Since Yoshi-P said that Krile will have a bigger role in the story from now on and we know that G'raha has plans to work closely with her it may be a good chance to tie the new job with an MSQ character.
We might even time travel to Allag in the story as it's the birthplace of that job, that would be cool! But it may be a bit too much wishful thinking on my part XD
I'd put my money on either Exorcist if we get a DoT caster or Geomancer, both have been teased a lot and basically exist already in game.
1:34 It's very archaic in English, but Japanese (and Chinese?) still has some linguistic overlap between star (星, hoshi) and planets.

The line uses the kanji for Earth (地球, chikyuu), but notes that it's supposed to be pronounced "hoshi".
I feel like in execution a geomancer may be too similar to a summoner. They would conjure their magic in different ways, but the end result would probably be similar.
My problem with geomancer is that the flavor overlaps quite a bit with the conjurer lore, especially since they use the same elements.
i actually would have liked to have geomancer as healer now instead of sage…cause we knew about this job since stormblood…and it seems to be more of a healing class not a dps class…so caster wouldnt make me happy…but we wont get it as healer at least not if it will come in the next 2 addons…so yea..sadly they might make it a caster 🙁
After going out on a limb with Gunbreaker (Modeled after Squall, but he doesn't have a character class) and Reaper (its own thing but arguably modeled after traditional Dark Knight) I wonder if they're going to stick with new concepts or mashups of traditional jobs rolled into one with a new name.
In terms of new areas I'd love to see a return to Heavensward's thing of exploring a single region in extreme detail, dedicating all of the expansion's zones to the capital and its surroundings. The name of the game since SB has been globehopping though, and EW is arguable proof that they've figured out to do that and not have the narrative be a disjointed mess. One giant zone per nation/locale feels like it's going to be the norm moving forward.
Definitely think 7.0 will be fully on our star on the source. We've had two expansions where we go to space/another shard having somthung fully grounded somewhere completely off the main content we started the game on is due
Geomancer would be awesome as long as it is NOT a Limited Job! They need to get rid of those completely! Blue Mage can be made into a normal job! I would love a job using Shugendo! Gosetsu Daito was awesome when we got to see him use it! Great vid as always, I loved it tons! Keep up the great work! 😉

I feel like they made hints to the spell “float” like what a time mage would use.
I would really like a phys ranged dual pistol wielding job that can switch between closer range fast gun-fu and longer range but slower heavy fire.
What'd I kill for a necromancer job or any minion base job, Summoner used to be it but its not really a pet class anymore 🙁 give me minions to fight with YOshiiii
If we keep saying geomancers are coming they'll add it eventually. Copium

My expectation for next expac jobs is two dps jobs like Stormblood. A Scouting job and a Casting job

Healers were split cause it was needed to balance it out between 4 classes..,

lots of npc only jobs exist will stay as such..,
you keep mentioning bets, but never fully committing..,
basically a video to push/spotlight an idea you want, with the intent of saying you predicted..,
[and if you did bet, saying value less things like gil is weak.., a better bet is to promise a nice goal to the community.., or fun event relevant to what your channels about that youd never do without being forced to..,]
all in all..,
there are so many things SE has "hinted" but not realy, only shown that base variants exist.., <but mays as well only be attributed to randok dynamis, and no actual class/job>
though i feel SE will add a scouting class, and one caster for sure..,
