In this video I talk about my experience going through the new blue mage content added in patch 6.45 of endwalker. While I enjoyed doing this content I felt it was incredibly short lived, especially after a 2 year wait for any new blue mage stuff. Hopefully in the future they try to expand upon blue mage more often than once every 2 years, or at least add more content per patch. At least the new level 80 spells are great!
Yes I know I forgot the endscreen I just really didn’t feel like waiting an extra hour to render again.

My only interaction with blue mage, was back during Shadowbringers, I was farming fates for a relic, and this blue mage started following me, and decimated each fate three seconds after I tagged the mobs.
4 AM MMO weirdness.
I skipped doing the Omega raids because there was no mount reward and really was hoping that the Shadowkeeper mount was for doing Eden Savage and they put it on the Mogstation…really Sad. I saw that the reason why they are not adding Blue Mage mounts anymore is because the Morbol is super rare still and they figured no one would do it?
Soloing treasure maps is much easier with new spells so there's that.
The spells this time are decent, goblin punch is probably my favourite new one and makes blu tanking more fun. Still very disappointed we didn’t get limit break from seat of sacrifice or redress from e8 (to change stance without mimicry).
I did the morbal grind before, never bothered with omega because there was no mount, an probably won’t do eden because for some reason the shadow wolf is in the mogstation.
At least doing the new log entries and grinding spells/levels with a friend was fun.
the running theme with endwalker patches seems to be improving the game for future players currently going through the msq. That's who's being serviced by small high quality content drops like the blue mage stuff and the variant dungeons.
And of course the dungeon updates for duty support.
I kind of get it, as someone who started playing after endwalker launched (and on the very quiet materia data center) doing huge pieces of old content like bozja or eureka is really difficult with looking for parties, and everything added in endwalker feels like it'll stay evergreen more easily. That kind of philosophy doesn't create content that keeps an mmo community busy the whole way between patches though unless you get a group of newer players together to run the old stuff they never cleared between new content.
Hi, friendly heads up on the stack marker from last boss Heroes Gaunlet: It's a "stack with the rocks" marker, not a group marker and designed to nuke you when you leave your pile of rocks too early 😉
The Blue mage log, I never tried to even complete it, because.. why? there's no reason to. they could at least give a little something to motivate us to do the content.
Agree, while the update is great, and I do love the new content, it still left me feeling "that's it?" I enjoy the blue mage job, but it's not their main focus, since it can't even do normal msq and que in dungeons….and it doesn't help when most people who dont' play blue meme it as the "what about" job…. heck, we're probably lucky to even getting an update..LOL
I personally hate the Masked Carnivale. It was fun when it was puzzle-based but then around level 11 or 12 it just became throwing more difficult enemies at us with increasing amounts of HP. Plus, the content is too hard. I'm a casual player, not a hardcore one, and I understand people love difficult challenges. But I play games to unwind and relax, not to tear my hair out because I have to keep replaying Act 1 just to have another shot at learning a mechanic I kept dying at on Act 2 (with another act to go after that). And there's no way to make it easier like there is with every other job, and not only is story progression locked behind the Masked Carnivale, but spells are also locked behind it, as are at least two Triple Triad cards. I'm stuck on the level 30 fight, and on six or seven other fights, so not only do I still not have the resurrection spell, but there's another spell I'm still missing, not to mention my Triple Triad collection will forever be incomplete so long as I'm unable to get this done, and Triple Triad is one of my favorite parts of FFXIV (as it was FFVIII). It's quite frustrating.
I'm not a hardcore BLU by any means. But before the 6.45 update, I'd gotten all of the spells, did all of the masked carnival, and did a lot of the BLU log (the dungeons, not so much trials or raids). Alongside my husband and our FC, we were excited for the update though
Morning of the update, my husband and I were online at 8am and ready to get our BLUs to 80 and do the job quest. We got to 80 within an hour, even including the time we spent server hopping to try to find an empty Labrynthos (and ended up settling on The Tempest instead). Then, the questline was done by 11am. Goldor didn't take super long to do blind either.
Getting the spells took some time, just because we did the full dungeons as BLU with our FC, and corralling four people to do like five dungeons around dinnertime is a Sisyphean task.
It does suck that there was so little with this update. None of the skills were hard or tricky to get, like how Cold Fog from the Mist Dragon was. All of the skills from the overworld were easy to get, and the other ones were just "as long as you don't mistakenly insta-kill the enemy with Missle/Tail Screw, you're gonna get the skill".
I think Squenix needs to get better at understanding the whole "carrot and stick" thing. Players in this game will do stupid amount of content that they otherwise wouldn't, as long as there's a good reward behind it. I understand that not everything can give a mount, minion, or glamour set but maybe a couple of triple triad cards, or orchestrion rolls, or an additional way to get some various blue dyes. Right now the only reason to do this new BLU content is "because you already wanted to do it for the sake of doing it". Some content like that isn't bad, but like… if you want people to go do the multiplayer content of "doing synched old savage raids", you can't just rely on that.
Yeah. Long rant aside, I'm just hopeful that a lot of the jank of post-Endwalker has been because the devs have been doing QoL for older content, and focusing on the 7.0 update — and that when 7.0 gets here, they'll have more resources to pour into meaningful content going forward.
glad I quit the shit, I see still a lot of trash male characters they are making, no love for females in this franchise!
As much as I love BLU and want it to keep getting updates and more content, I am quite a bit disappointed by the Shadowbringers update for it.
No Hades nor Elidibus spells, even though Elidibus would've been the literal perfect time to give BLU a LB. It doesn't even have to be the normal caster LB, it could've been something unique like "Refill all BLU in the party's MP, reset all BLU cooldowns, and make all BLU spells instant cast and cost no MP for a short time" (or even just literally Elidibus' LB4 as our LB)
Only one new Masked Carnivale stage, and yet again it's just another overly long and honestly kinda boring single boss fight. Many of the non-boss stages where there's actual puzzles and unique non-boss-fight ways to complete them are far better than the "just another Trial fight that every other job does" that Gogo and Goldor ended up feeling like.
BLU has tons of unique spells with weird effects, so why not make use of those? What if there was a stage where you had to use the spells that forcefully move allies to shove some NPC allies to certain spots? Or a Simon Says type stage where you have to hit a target dummy (or some specific dummies out of a group with a certain shape AoE) with spells of specific elements in a displayed order?
They added even more spells, and it's amazing that the new spells are actually unique and different and not just "220 potency spell #47", yet they didn't give us any additional spell slots. We already have so many "must take" spells that it was already a struggle to change up builds, and now there's even more must takes but no additional slots?
At this point, I feel like instead of more spells, they need to go back and re-evaluate all the prior spells. Get rid of all the "generic 220 potency" spells, combine some other spells' effects together, make Aetheric Mimicry a passive that you talk to the BLU NPCs to change which mimicry you currently are, make some spells only usable while in a certain mimicry, etc. If they won't give more spell slots, then they need to free up the slots we DO have.
Don't get me wrong, I'm incredibly happy they are still giving BLU content and the FFXIV devs are some of the best and most dedicated and kind devs in the entire industry. It's just that sometimes it feels like there are things that could be miles better with just some very minor tweaks.
SE should straight up delete blue mage, it's so fucking obvious they regret creating it in the first place and they don't want to give player any reason to appreciate the new content, you can clear it in a couple hours and wait for another 2 years. They prefere waste their ressources on that stupid island that is already outdated because it was only another way to get materia wich, surprise, we won't need to farm anymore until 7.0 in 6 month or so, and at that time, island sanctuary's materia will be outdated as well.
If SE continue that way, the game is doomed for real players, it will be a nest of casual shitty player that love ERP and "facebook gaming". Very sad
I cannot deny that patches don't add much new stuff, but I think as overall there's A LOT to do on BLU mage and that's how I see it?
So to me its okay
I don't play BLU much, heck I'm not even lv80 yet, I've been on that crafting relic grind xD
I like BLU how it is, but I do agree it would be very cool to have more to earn by being BLU, like unique mounts and stuff.
and I hate how I'm being called out, as completionnist, I'm totally wanting those titles xD
what experience?? it was just fucking bullshit that cheat
