FFXIV SAGE job is GREEK!? Breaking down spell names

Who would’ve guessed that the developer team of a triple-A company from Japan would do extensive research in order to be able to use words from a language that only 18m people can speak (world-wide), as a nation. I am truly and utterly delighted to come out here and tell you guys the meaning of literally every single Sage ability (other than that Addergall idk wth that is) and maybe even speculate a bit on the …. “creative” words such as halmanation!

  1. Ok, I've done goof'd. It's HAIMA, not HALMA. I apologise, that GREATLY changes the meaning of the word, I'll explain:

Haima / Aima / Αίμα = Blood and Panhaima = Πάναιμα = παν + Αίμα = pan + aima = all blood? As in, it affects all blood? Or everyone's blood? It's a stretch, there is no scenario where the word "panhaima" will be used in Greece, maybe it's a medical term that I am unfamiliar with.

  2. Icarus is indeed a pair of wings that propels you forward. An Adder is a very venomous snake, I probably don't need to explain sting, but gall probably refers to the gall bladder where bile is produced. Also there is another thing to translate, the LB3 Techne Makre

  3. I think a lot of the skill names have to do with Hippocrates(as in the Hippocratic oath, father of western medicine) and his application of the four bodily humours(blood, phlegm, yellow bile, and black bile) in the treatment of the human body, which was actually regarded as medicinal science for many many centuries before it was debunked. Eucrasia means "balance of the humours" which was associated with a healthy condition in the human body according to this theory, in contrast with dyscrasia, an imbalance of the fluids that could lead to disease.
