  1. Your point about lyrics not fitting is actually a huge part of localizing, and esp music and manga. Direct translation is often not going to capture the spirit of what you want, nor will it fit the melody. The singing is just god awful. She sounds like shes being held at gunpoint and its supposed to be inspirational? LMAO

  2. the entire song comes off as a high school project to me. This isn't the first time we've had a song like this from 14, but it's 100% one of those songs that just.. Idk- reminds me of something I'd hear on my little pony or something.

Atleast with the endwalker ending song, It felt like the last goodbye, it had a melancholy touch to it that was endearing . this one comes off as preachy.

It doesn't help that Wuk Lamat is the focus yet again. Both in visuals and in lyrics.

  3. 3:48 "This song sounds like they're trying way too hard to make the words fit."

This point here is exactly what I feel about most of the lyrics in all of FFXIV songs that contain lyrics. Endwalker had this problem egregiously with the Alliance Raids. Whoever writes the lyrics to these songs puts WAY too many words in each bar of music. Whenever I hear the singer sing the lyrics, they're going through the words so fast I don't understand what they're saying, I have to look up the lyrics to know what's happening.

I mean, I get what they're going for – they're trying to make Eorzean folk music that tells the history and lore of the place you're in. I get it, it's not lost on me. But do you have to do it so badly with the lyrics? Less is more darling.

13:52 This song sucks, sorry. The lyrics match the melody note for note and it sounds cheesy. Not a banger.

  4. Something worth clarifying on, is not that she said you're racist for not liking it, but there is a subset of people out there who don't like it for such reason. That group of people are very obvious, but not everyone that dislikes it for that reason, so that shouldn't have been said imo. Either way, you're not racist for simply disliking the song

  5. I think the song is ok at best but it's biggest problems are it's placement and how jarring it can be when the chorus goes full blast with no build up, and that is how people would experience the song for the first time which is not a great thing to do. If it had more buildup to that part or we got to hear more of the slower section in the bg where there is currently just silence (other than the dialogue obviously) but that would also either require a rewrite of the song or a forced pace dialogue for that part in order to make it fit better. There are things they could have done but that is kinda just the thing with DT as a whole where if they just handled certain things just a little differently it would have likely been received better, (the story probably should have had a few more rewrites or something) and this is coming from someone who overall enjoyed the msq and was able to vibe with it.

  6. This song is literally the song that would play at the end of movie about a white girl from the suburbs attending an all black inner city school with the white girl being the lead singer. Not even going to touch that main singer isn't even black. Smile literally sounds Whitewashed as fuck. She's just a typical White Woman literally just throwing the word racist to stir shit.

  7. The vocals are bad, the choir isn't good. the instrumental parts are fine. The soft parts aren't terribly bad, but when it goes super gospel it's just really bad and I don't mind gospel music but this is is a terrible version of gospel music.

  8. It's probably off-putting because it sounds like it's straight out of a G-Rated Disney movie or a kids show; seems too soft even for kingdom hearts.
Guess it's technically fitting since we played as a babysitter the entire expansion, though.

  9. Song aside… I think the most important thing to take away from this is that this person should never have been hired.

Based purely on merit I think they did a poor job as a voice actor.

and ontop of that they're purposefully bringing polarizing and inflammatory accusations towards the playerbase and frankly being an all-around shitstirrer.
Bringing ideology where it doesn't belong and where it wasn't bloody wanted.

  10. i liked the song. it really doesnt have a place in 14 imo (especially during the train part lmao) but as a song i liked it, because i like most music. people who didnt like the song, just didnt like it. simple as. they arent racist or bigots or what have you. leave it to twitter to make mountains out of molehills. who gives a shit about whether or not someone likes a song? virtue signaling music ICANT

  11. Trying to draw the political narrative's card to defend something, and saying people that hate this is racist?? Seriously?? This is a game that people play as various races….. Did she never consider there are people that don't like the music because "simply just don't like it?"

  12. That whole logic about Bridget hurt my head, dumbest shit I've ever heard at this point in my life. On as side note, the VA for sponge bob isn't a fucking sponge, they need to replace them.

  13. She really decided to take the bridge that she built for herself as a longtime fan and start burning it any any chance she gets, calling people who dislike a questionable pitchy ass song that doesnt even fit in context racist and then pretending she didn't and then calling everyone who dislikes her god awful VA of Wuk transphobic even though 99% of people didn't even know she was trans until she made sure that everyone knew it so that she could then keep calling everyone transphobic. Take the L, realize the song is ass, realize the VA director was a piece of shit and gave bad direction, the VA was questionable at best in every language except for JP and call it a day. Get better for 7.1 or fuck off like Lyse and get relegated to the shitty midpatch msq and forgotten.
