  1. Now this version has the oomph I wanted. This makes the song so much better. Honestly, I don't think the hate for the song is justified. This is so much better than the default Dawntrail theme imo. Thanks for uploading it.

  2. What a beautiful song to conclude the first part of the first chapter of the new era of FF XIV! 🎉

What I really like about this theme is that it makes some callbacks to Close in The Distance in the instrumental parts (especially at the beginning), it really gives me the impression that Smile is somehow the "symbolic" continuation of Close in The Distance / of the journey of the Warriors of Light, in the sense that this time, we are not, experimenting alone grief or sadness in face of despair, but hope and happiness singing together!

Still, there is some underlying sadness that makes me wonder whether this song will have another meaning at the end of the patches of the Dawntrail MSQ…^^'

  4. First time I heard this in the MSQ, I was so confused. But still joyful and happy. Something about it just hit in such a way that made me think, "…Well, why not?" How come we can't be this upbeat? What the hell says the song needs to be dramatic and foreboding?

That same feeling hit me again in the final cutscene. Watching the whole city fade to black, everyone finally passing on and leaving the empty buildings behind. It was beautiful in a horrific way. But it didn't make me sad. It was cathartic. I've lost so many people over the years, but somehow this gave me a little bit of closure. If Endwalker was about accepting the inevitability of death, Dawntrail was about being able to move on from loss. It's, quite literally, about letting everything go and starting fresh. What a fitting way to begin a brand new arc for Final Fantasy XIV.

  5. Music is good but doesn't really fit in the MSQ cutscenes where it was put, imo. This was playing while watching Solution 9 people crying for Sphene, it was kinda funny. I would have loved to actually see a play in Living Memory made by the people, who are falsely "happy" singing this song while we turn off the lights of Living Memory, or something like that?

  6. Awful. Just awful. This whole scene was a fucking mess with this terrible song distracting you from Erenville's monologue. They have really, really lost the plot.
