The faster, slightly more difficult instanced content is good for the game. Raises the floor for the average players, learn, wipe, get better.
When I hear "Expert" my mind immediately shifts to the Burger King Crown.
"ill quit!" OKAY BYE? it fixes the congestion anyway.
A lot of the information in the OP sounds like hurt ego and pride…"Oh I kept dying in the Honey B fight, just leave me on the floor" so because you didn't immediately understand the Honey B fight and instead of learning the mistakes while you are dead you just get upset and then say "oh just don't bother rezzing me" like to me that sounds like embarrassment and ego. This person seriously not expect to die/wipe on new bosses and mechs you haven't seen before? Really? Like where has this person been for the last 5 expansions….the basic concepts for mechs are still there it's just packaged differently by new interpretations and visual cues. I understand that there will always be a group of folks who are just not good at the game technically but to throw out a blanket statement such as "All these new dungeons and raids are just too hard" no no no it's just hard for you because clearly people are able to beat them and move on to the next piece of content. Plus for this expansion many streamers have created dungeon and raid guides for folks…so there is really no excuses here. If you want something bad enough you will find out a way to beat this content.
The best response to this is simply “get good.”
We're on the 6th expansion. People should be able to do recycled mechanics by now.
Here's an interesting take. I was running a Dawntrail "expert" dungeon for the first time. As a tank, I am usually a bit cautious in new content and like to pull a bit slower and may even watch a video before hand to get the feel. This time I went in blind, but took it slow, as my SO was running with me as well. The healer proceeded to berate me the whole run because I "didnt watch a video to learn the fights" and I was "wasting their time". Meanwhile, the 4th player, a dps, was calmly countering their arguments, and actually providing helpful strategies to get through the fights that have now made me super comfortable going balls to the wall on these fights. Some mechanics are just "you see it and do it to learn it". And I as a PLD can probably solo these bosses down from 40% given time, now that I have done the mechs so much it's muscle memory at this point.
After 100 levels SE should be able to expect some degree of competency from the playerbase. Not having to do savage/ult style mit plans or anything but like being able to press 123 and moving out of a telegraph is a reasonable ask.
I'm a 1.x vet who didn't start raiding til EW (my only unsynced raid experience is panda 1-12 when current, EW UWU and EW TEA). The MSQ dungeons aren't really all that much harder but they do feel slightly more engaging which is nice. The normal modes for Arcadion have me extremely excited for savage and they didnt feel like garbage when I was farming my week 2 drops last night. It would be a shame for them to suddenly pullback when the battle content for DT has been better
Sounds like they want moba rpg mechanics. Set your character to auto run and screw mechanics.
We have the most patient and forgiving community in all of gaming. I know alot of folks have a fear of failing in fights and being called out for dying alot to mechanics, and they really shouldn't.
People in FFXI really do want to help and actually still have loads of fun even while wiping alot.
Embrace the new – more challenging content.! Have fun – everyone else is.
The raids have always introduced new mechanics. They are hints at what's going to happen in savage so you can guess easier and figure things out easier…. This isn't a new thing. I'm still dying to Honeybee. I'm trying to figure out how to maximize my uptime so I can do it in savage better when it comes out.
All this BS about not wanting learn and learning nothing is lying with a straight face in broad daylight. How much time did it take you to memorize the multiplication table? To learn do basic euclidean geometry proofs? Should be easy 7th grade math stuff right?! To do epsilon delta proofs for limits? This is all basic math…. Seriously people are playing for fun and people learn in the process but they all learn at their own pace and reflective of their level.
What players do not need is for the normal difficulty level stuff to have their floor raised. They paid their sub with expectations that they are getting a simple plain burger but instead they now have to complain they got a spicy taco.
the vast majority of the new content is pretty well telegraphed, with only a handful of exceptions that need to be adjusted or fine-tuned here and there, and hell, the heal check via revenge of the Calcabrinas in strayborough is the best thing to happen to me, and i'm saying that as someone with reflex and brain fog issues. the only one that can go straight to hell is Leonogg and his little minions
This is what getting participation trophies does to people.
I'm still watching people struggle in ShB roulettes so I don't think Dawntrail is the culprit. There are either a lot of new players again or fewer skilled veterans to carry bad players through casual content. Maybe the truth is somewhere in the middle.
The longer you've been facerolling casual content(roulette content), the more fun it is when you get a duty where you wipe.
Why is this person's skill issue our problem?
Listening to this great video until my whole body SEIZED AT THE FF11 DELVL SOUND EFFECT OUUVGHH
Yeah the person that made that post is a bit ridiculous. They've supposedly been playing for 6 years and they listed P2 normal as an example of other content that they think is hard. I couldn't take them seriously even at first but especially after that. Any time I've ever gone into that fight, it's been more along the lines of "wake me up when we're done cause I can literally fall asleep during this fight". You can do next to nothing in that fight and clear it easily. If you have healers that are proactive enough, I don't think you would even have to move at all. That person completely refuses to learn how to play which is hilarious cause when they said they've been playing for 6 years they said something along the lines of "I've been playing for 6 years. Trust me I know how to play". Bro, I really don't think you do.
I had to sit down my PUG group in M3 last night, and have a big-boy talk after 5 wipes in a row about not worrying about damage uptime, and instead focus on the mechanics and cast when they know they can.
We cleared the next pull. It took a long time to kill him, but we cleared.
I don't understand people that say the normal raids and content is too hard. I went from stumbling a bit but clearing on Monday after finishing msq. On Tuesday… literally the next day, i was leading a group and doing callouts for my group after only seeing each fight once. The mechanics aren't hard to learn. Some people are just too lazy to learn and execute. If it's too hard, either ask for help or practice…
I have had so much fun in the trials and raids. Learning the mechanics, figuring out what happened and what i did wrong is fun. Wiping a couple times makes the clear so much more satisfying.
OK, this is silly. I decided to go sch for dungeons this expansion instead of drg cause hand injury. And the thing I have seen is people not even moving from marks on the floor. Not learning, Not trying at all. They expect to be able to get a hit and survive or have the healers rez them or healers to keep them alive. But not trying the bare minimum.
It’s wild to rush to the forums day one of the normal raids coming out when people are still learning the fights and don’t have gear. Like that’s part of the fun of doing stuff on release, everyone learning and getting better. Also how dare they put new mechanics in new fights, isn’t that the point of new content.
That person contradicted themselves by saying "do not have the brain capacity". I immediately discounted the entire complaint as soon as I saw those words. This is coming from a very casual JP player, and why is it so hard for these people to admit that they are bad at games? Behave differently? Just say you're bad at games. The first step to any kind of improvement is to accept that you are bad at something. These are the same kind of people that spam vote surrender in LoL. They should stay in AFK Journey.
Let add my 5 cents, I think the masses who into the story that are new to the gaming or haven’t touch mmropg of course they want it easy or supposedly normal not to hard.
I agree with you make the optional really hard make them cry or quit the game and for the savage and ultimate that one mistake the group fail🤝
As a professional filthy casual, I sometimes feel like I've been slapped in the face, when some one tells me "this next one is gonna be VERY HARD" and suddenly I'm met with an obvious telegraph, Boss Motions and Gesture that shows his next movement…. I'm just there wondering…. What was "very" and hard? About the boss… Lmfao… what's going on here… I though we already knew the difficulty is scaling up. It's how MMORPGs work. The Higher the Level. The harder the contents? Classic MMORPG rule?
There is in fact a Mario Kart strat for M2N.
No, No i'm not joking, there's a Mario Kart strat and there's party finders up for it on reset day too. At least on Coeurl and Dynamis there are.
The balance exist only in between the story and gameplay, story to cater to a certain minority that doesnt play videogames and the gameplay something that, that minority doesnt know how to play
I've found it funny that people call it Shiva circles when we first see that mech in Titan HM with the Bombs. It doesn't appear as circles but it explodes in the exact same size and order.
I'm probably the worst FFXIV player on the planet. I know I suck and I know I die to "easy" mechanics far longer than most people do. I also know that part of my issue is I main Black Mage and that makes it extra tough (though I did switch to Viper for this expansion). But I also don't mind being challenged and even I didn't think these new dungeons and raids were that bad.
Can't tell you how many healers I have gotten that don't use half their kit… either they don't regen or don't use insta. I've had to stop several times and say… "you are going to need to do more than regen. This is new content." Instead… they are trying to dps. Which seems to be the issue in general… resolve mechanics and THEN worry about your dps.
by what they crying about they want boss fights to be no use of brain power to the point their brain is in a sleep mood, first, they cry shit too easily and now cry it's too hard
the only way to get better is to get slapped around a few times from the fight and learn from it
33:00 👍
My favorite part about all of this is that every single party I joined this week has cleared it with no wipes. They couldn't even wait a week to make this forum post XD
I know you're trying to be nice. But some people have a hard time accepting that they are in fact, just not very good at video games. I think these people who are complaining about the difficulty of Dawntrail content are a vocal minority and honestly, I do hope that SE continues giving us these fresh and new challenges.
If there is one thing about the discourse about Dawntrail, the MSQ story isn't going to save this expansion. The content (i.e. dungeons, raids, savages, etc.) will do that. Don't get me wrong, I actually like Wuk Lamat as a character, but the whole expansion's story comes off as some Saturday Morning Anime Filler season with a ton of tropes you'd typically find in that kind of thing. But going back to the content, I've really enjoyed the new Raids and I'm anticipating the 24-man that will involve Vana'diel. I played FF11 for several years so I'm hoping that FF14 only players can get a taste of the fun, pain and suffering of those FF11 Dynamis Runs.
yoship – theres going to be a difficulty spike with the expert dungeons
ffxiv community – noooooo its tooooo haaaaaard
me with harder difficulty – this is amazing
The floor break mechanic isnt even new 😂 we had it in Stormblood with Shinryu's tail slap
"Players on the forum are complaining."
Must be a day ending in Y. 😂
Modern FFXIV players expecting content to be baby piss easy when you are lvl 100 and doing 5th expansion content.
Its been fucking 5 expansions and they still expect to do mechanics from Satasha?
I'm from aether but my hubby and I have some very nice friend here in our fc we is the only reason we won't leave aether though. but yea aether is crudy for toxic casually numbnuts. but I'm sure other server's to have there toxic numbnuts to.
Hey, I see me in the chat. 😀 One thing I said in there – the "non-standard" telegraphs? A lot of the telegraphs now show the same mechanics but they are so much more organic to the mobs in question, and fully taking advantage of our graphics update. I absolutely love it. Telegraphs in Alexandria and the 3rd trial especially come to mind here; and of course EX and the Raids. I love it, it makes you have to think about each fight a little differently, instead of just looking for the same line, cone, aoe, one side vs the other, stack, etc.
Wish we had a RAID TOOL in game so that the people having "Problems" with things can PRACTICE mechanics. Then they wouldn't have an excuse right…right?
People need to git gud. Not sorry. End of discussion. Cant keep up? Learn better. Fuckin hell.
So, by the end of the video, you alluded to the real problem in the game rn. We have so many players that have just tried to breeze through content before and never wanted any feedback. Now that they’re running into something they can’t just breeze through, they want the game quality to be brought down to what they want it to be. I felt there was Aton of irony in that one comment about other players only being concerned with their enjoyment of the game because that’s exactly what this attitude is. Also, I have BIG questions concerning that one player that said they wanted to quit and go back to GW2, which isn’t a bad game. Is it the number of buttons they are having to press and they can’t keep up? What guides are they talking about? Are they struggling with MSQ dungeons, Trials, and normal raids; or are they referring to EX Trials? I’m having a very difficult time understanding what is happening to hinder their enjoyment of the game
Your World of Darkness anecdote is a reminder of how much fun it is for a lot of us to see a "routine" run devolve into absolute chaos.
I got 6 comms once in a world of darkness run where everything went to shit and despite many raises to healers in the other alliances, I ended up tanking angra mainyu as a healer, running around the perimeter of the arena screaming "AAAAAAAAAA" into alliance chat repeatedly and healing myself through auto attacks that took off 80% of my health until my swiftcast came off cooldown and I could raise our tank. I was only there for one of our FC sprouts and a year and a half later we still bring it up in chat and start laughing.
I don't agree with the post in the video but I think I know what they mean by "non-standard". I think they mean attacks without telegraphic zones. Some recent fights seem to have more AoE (circles, lines, cones) that don't have associated circles. I think that's fine personally but I'm a fan of fromsoft games so a Lil death doesn't bug me
in case you're one the people who are complaining –> the opinions of those who all you do is just stand in social hubs/chat/erp…your opinion on content is not valid.
Specifically the western playerbase in general is complete filth. Sure exceptions but overall the loud pettiness comes from there ALWAYS.
