Happy holidays everyone! I know many people will be busy this weekend with their festivities. But to those who would like to share in a conversation about the upcoming patch I wanted to release this early! I’m certainly looking forward to this, and I’m eager to run all this new content with you all!

  1. I notice when they pan out the face shot of the gods, you can barely see what looks like Halone's spear on the right, and someone else on the left, which makes at least 5 god present in that cutscene. To me that implies they might do a double god boss fight to handle the numbers. Either way, I'd be very excited to see the heaven of water if we do fight Nymeia.

  2. Can you all come together to form a large lore "Academy" or Like Sharlayan. Then you can combine communities and grow further. Possibly more opportunities for discussion and exploration with more heads too.

  3. Any chance the “Promised Land” is a reference to the Lifestream? That’s what they called it in VII I think. Because gaining access to or restoring the Lifestream is key to giving mortality back to the voidsent in order to have them find “death’s sweet embrace.” It’s so overcharged on the Thirteenth, it became stagnant and useless.

  4. I'm looking forward to wiping to True Rage of Halone.
I'm also greatly tickled by the fact that she appears to be using a Greatsword, of all things, to deliver her judgment in that ultimate attack – a weapon of the Dark Knights, utterly despised by the Ishgardian orthodoxy.

  5. I'd say Gunbreakers are gonna want Halone's sword since they have her doing Blasting Zone. But sure, Give it to Paladins …. i guess …. soon as they actually make it fun to play. :p
Joking a side though the 24 man is pretty great this expansion so far, and it already sounds like where getting another banger of a track in the second tier.

as for the MSQ, it looks good, as per usual but yeah, we got next to nothing, which is fine just means what ever is happening is important enough that they want to keep it on the down low much as possible for now.

  6. When the trailer dropped, I was hoping to see your reaction vid here, Scribe.
Though, I honestly thought you'd wait until after the winter holiday, so thank you for putting this up so quickly!

    2:09 *sigh* H- hiiiiiii Althyyyyk! 😀

3:18 Hold up, Scribe… The WoL never said (silent protag jokes aside), they never explicitly said themselves they were going to stay closer to home, Alisae only assumed that was the case.

3:38 Is this Zero in the scene, or her mother? If that's her mother, I adore that Zero's little domain has a PLD statue erected there. If that's Zero herself, I really want her to job change to a Paladin.
And she needs to lighten up. And smile. And get over herself. And we're moving on.

4:25 I have often been too exhausted to eat anything and ended up passing out for nearly a day just to recuperate. So… as much as I don't like Zero, I can relate to that scene on a very personal level.

4:31 Oh, yet another beautiful song I'm excited to hear in-game. That violin solo is so heartwarming and joyous, I love it. 🙂

4:40 On other channels, a lot of people are pointing out how Nophica's face isn't revealed in the trailer….. without any context as to why that's so important to point out!

What IS the big deal about that?

5:44 Yeah, I completely agree with you here, Scribe! I rarely ever play PLD and I want that weapon, too! (So long as it's dyeable, that is)

6:19 It's a little thing, but every time I see the LL overlap in the patch title, I hear the phrase "Love leads to Loss" from the beginning of the expansion. Why? Dunno.

Well, this patch is really shaping up to be something special, I'm looking forward to Jan 10th!
Happy Holiday to you Scribe, take it easy!

  7. As a latecomer to FF14, the lore I get from your channel helps me understand a lot of the game. That said, for most latecomers, esp those who are jumping ship from WoW, Lore is unimportant side noise. They're here for the "kill kill kill, faster faster faster" mindset that drives me away from most multiplayer content in MMOs. And that I've seen seeping into FF14 with "wall to wall" dungeon clears and (as a frequent tank player) the constant whining to pull more and push faster than I'm comfortable with. It was enough I literally stopped tanking for a while.

  8. During that macro cosmos looking attack, it looked like nymeia and, who I will assume to be, Thaliak was there, making me wonder if we're getting 3 zones in this raid.

If so, I think our last alliance raid of the expansion may have us go to the 7th heaven at this rate.

  9. It's super quick but we do see later in the trailer a tag-team pose between Nymeia and Althyk, sort of mirroring what Nald and Thal did in Aglaia
You can also see players flailing up in the air so it's some sort of cutscene/"down for the count" attack

Absolutely in the same boat of wondering why a water god(dess) is here now, given we're just doing earth and ice, but being Althyk's sister if I recall guess we'll find out

Granted this means we only have three gods in the final leg of myths, maybe someone else takes the stage (I'm hoping for an alliance raid odin), and we'll finally see if deryk is actually oschon given oschon is supposed to be the twelfth boss following the wheel

  10. ya tbh i wasnt expecting the patch story to be dragging us to the 13th so quickly, figured itd be the next expansion honestly.

as for lore, i feel like with the story being the emphasized part of the games design most people either get burned out of the lore or feel like they dont need it to enjoy the world since the msq does a good job of presenting it by itself

  11. I don't know what I like about this trailer more:

The MSQ dungeon featuring Zero and the Al-twins drawing parallels to FFIV's Mount Ordeals, the implication that we're getting a special instance where we play as THE Godbert Manderville, or Scribe's brilliant sense of timing (and appendage) at the 7:16 mark

  12. It’s good to hear one of my favorite lore channels mentioning my other two favorite lore channels. I just wish all three of them would upload more regularly, but I will take what I can get because I understand that these things take lots of time and effort to create. Anyways, Merry Christmas everyone! (If you celebrate it, if not then happy holidays all the same!)

  13. You say we learned very little about msq, but Golbez literally said his end goal and motivation. He wants a kingdom of light, likely the first, to bring the voidsent back into the cycle of death and rebirth so their souls won't be stagnant forever.

  14. Take another game with less lore and less players, Destiny, We got Byf who is almost to 1 million subs and all he does is lore! I mean partly it's just he is an amazing story teller, but I think part of the issue is that a game like Destiny you really have to dig to find some of the lore. Or it's tied to things like raids which not a lot of people do. So if you want to know the lore it really helps to have someone like Byf, but if I want to know about Magic I don't need to raid in FF14 I can go do magic class quest or play Shadowbingers and hear the descriptions of the elements. A lot of the lore of FF14 is presented to you in the game in easy to access locations, so a lot of people have access to it a lot more easily than they do in a game like Destiny. However, in a game like Destiny it's tied to item descriptions, obscure quest that not everyone has done. The Lore in FF14 is easier to find, but I still appreciate people like you however.

  15. i believe one of the main reasons there isnt "popular role channels" its because most of the lore is in the game and people intereted in it will look for it in the game, and not outside the game, like other game i dont want to name.
But keep doing your work i enjoy it a lot.

  16. "Okay that weapon transformation was sick, I can see the Paladins begging for a weapon like that"

lol it transformed into a greatsword, DRKs like me are most likely the ones getting it

  17. I'm happy to see that we might be able to touch on Garlemald a bit, in terms of the Endwalker zones it does feel the most in need of an update. Perhaps this void invasion is gonna be a lead-in to dealing with more of Ilsabard? I do hope we get to see how some of the provinces closer to Garlemald such as Nhalmasque are handling the fall of the Empire.
