Is Kardia affected by Damage buffs? Does what job you put Closed Position on matter for a Dancers Esprit Generation? And of course even more Avail and Cover tests! All that on this episode of FFXIV Mythbusters!

Keep up the good work!
These are always interesting, and this episode was especially interesting! The double-bump was hilarious.
Looking at the list of topics to be discussed before watching the video, here are my initial thoughts:
1: No, iirc the tooltip on Kardia specifically states that when the Sage lands a directly damaging spell on a target, the player with Kardion gets healed for 150 potency
2: No, it can be, but it's not strictly ALWAYS a gain
3 & 4: I'm not well versed enough in either BLU or PLD to have any initial guesses about these
5: I haven't played a lot of DNC, but I think I remember seeing that Esprit generation is tied to attacks landing (though I could be very wrong) so at a guess, I'd say this one is true (though again, I wouldn't be at all surprised if I was wrong due to Mandela effect-ing myself)
[post watching edit: turns out I was a little bit off with the Kardion potency, and I was apparently also one of the people who didn't fully read the tooltip regarding Esprit]

Question about kardia:
What KIND of healing is it? Is it "Healing magic"? Is it a "Healing Action"?
Basically, what kinds of healing buffs actually affect it? It doesn't trigger Zoe, so I assume it doesn't count as "healing magic", but would it be augmented by, say, Asylum? Or Mantra? What about Fey Illumination?
I have a bit of a weird one…
And it's a bit of a personal one for Scholars.
I personally believe it's better to use (Recitation + Protraction + ) Adloquium -> Deployment Tactics on a tank, believing the tiny bits of Tenacity and the higher healthpool keeps the shield I deploy a bit larger.
However, I noticed recently in PF (in higher difficulty content especially), that a lot of Scholars are using it on themselves before spreading the shield.
So my question would be: Who would be the best target for Adloquium -> Deployment Tactics assuming everyone is in range to get the shield. And do abilities like Nature's Minne, Mantra and Thrill of battle actually influence the size of the spread shield?
Perhaps the misconception with kardia could come from similar logic but in the opposite direction: 'when under a damage down effect, kardia heals for less because the sage is dealing less damage'. This still isn't true of course, but when one of the more prominent damage down effects in the game is weakness/brink of death, you would actually see results that seem to back up this claim. That is of course due to the reduction of stats reducing healing output, but since a lot of people probably only think of that debuff as a damage down they may misunderstand how sage's kardia healing works. Just a thought.
… position to start a BLU space program by all hopping into the tornado at once
Now I'm wondering what happens when multiple BLUs avail the designated target and all step into the tornado at the same time. Do you just…. disappear into the sky?
One of the things I've always been curious about is when there are multiple bards in a party and they play different songs, which song is actually in effect on other party members? The first played? Second? Both? Only one tends to be show in the buffs, though often I see the icon switch between whichever songs are active at the time. So never been sure how exactly they interact with each other.
Personally, I think it's both, because the icons randomly switch. But then I can't help but wonder why they don't just display bard songs separately instead of appearing like they overwrite.
Im so glad that I was wrong with the cover knock up.
Maybe I just failed a lot when I tried it the last time a few years ago or they adjusted cover again.
But I will grab some friends to launch me high again.
Your 1-2 knockups are rockie numbers. 😀
The crit thing with Kardia reminds me of pre-SHB Raw Intuition, when it had the downside of always taking crits from the rear and flank. Reportedly – I never saw this myself – this included always getting critical heals if your healer stood behind you, which made the downside more of a mixed bag.
A myth to cover: There is audio and visual feedback when correctly landing a positional vs failing to.
This is one that I've already tested, and it's true….sometimes? Or there's more factors to determining when this feedback occurs. In particular, there is a sunburst visual effect that happens around the player model that looks like a bunch of straight colored lines bursting out of the center of the model. But it doesn't always occur when performing a positional. For instance, Samurai's Gekko skill will do the sunburst effect around the player when executing it from the rear AND when getting the combo bonus. It does NOT appear when ONLY the combo or the positional bonus is earned.
I also tested Blu Mage's Goblin Punch, it never gives the sunburst effect, regardless of achieving the front positional with or without mighty guard.
I am honestly shocked about the avail/cover test in Bismarck, mostly since I did a similar test in p10s, where someone would stand in the tankbuster that throws you across the arena, and a Paladin would cover them. In that case, cover would not work and the person in the tank buster would get thrown like normal. I wonder if the game is only programmed for people inside the tankbuster tower to be thrown around, so they just had it go through cover. Though once Blue Mage gets updated to 90, I am 100% going to test it with meat shield just incase there is some tiny edge case that makes it act wacky.
idk if this has been covered yet but: Phase 4 DSR Mirage Dives. People say not to mit the dives so the eye takes more damage, but I've looked at the logs; the eyes are taking like 200k per dive and the people getting hit are getting hit for anywhere from 25k-35k, so it seems to not make any difference. I feel like this came from Nidhogg extreme and nobody bothered to check to see if it actually works that way in the Ulti. I'm really curious to see what would happen if you used Hallowed Ground on a dive.
There's two moments where Esprit generation between jobs has seemed different to me but I've never gotten to test, and now seems like the perfect time to bring it up.
RDM and MCH are both 2.50 GCD jobs, but have burst windows with accelerated GCD's (similar to the BLM example, but more extreme with RDM combos and especially MCH hypercharge windows). My theory with this, using MCH as an example, is that MCH is always treated as a 2.50 job despite the hypercharge GCD. So during a double/triple hypercharge burst window, they do, in theory, give out more Esprit in a time that matters than another job would.
It's be interesting to test and see if there's any sort of connection with the drastic changes to a given job's gcd for those that swap based on burst phases
Espreih? I say E Spirit
One thing I’ve heard a number of times but found no support for is the claim that bacon broth and tinkers calm increase not just desynthesis skill gain but also the odds of getting a rare material. I’ve been thinking about experimenting with this one myself.
Your voice was weird. Then I noticed speed was 1.25x. Youtube doing a sabotage.
Applying Krasis before Kardia snapshots Krasis until Kardia is reapplied
Critical hit buffs increasing healing is why I like to joke that Battle Litany is a healing cooldown 🙂
There's also another example of Swiftcast being a potential damage gain, which is especially relevant going into Dawntrail. If you would not have been able to finish your cast before downtime, being able to cast these before the boss jumps away is a damage gain (esp in the case of Pictomancer, with its 5s cast-recast spell, its similar to Monk's Six-sided Star as long as you can Swift it. :D)
And the Bismark claim is hillarious, going weeeee!
I have a weird one that I'd like to see tested if it hasn't been already: how does invulnerability interact with stack markers? Does it still divide the attack potency up evenly and just not deal it to the invulnerable person? Or does it overlook the invulnerable person to still deal the full damage among everybody else? Obviously the easy way to check would be with Hallowed Ground or Superbolide, but I'm also wondering if someone who's just been revived can help with a stack marker without putting themselves at risk.
i saw a gif of the tornado space program using the tornados in Neverreap, before the first boss. when i tried it on an unsuspecting friend, it didnt work entirely, and she only got hit one time. i concluded the funny glitch must have been fixed, but here you are, showing it works in Bismarck! HMM maybe i goofed when i tried it!
anyway, this one very likely isnt a myth but could be a funny thing to do anyway, have a BLU Avail someone before a knockback mechanic comes out. the victim should get pushed twice as far. but what if we have like 6 BLUs Avail someone all at once? will 7 knockbacks hit them or just two? i mean i have to assume its gonna be all of them.
fun fact! When Sophia brings the scales down on the sides of the arena and the whole party gets shoved left, then right, the arena isnt tilting, the entire skybox is shifting to make you think the arena is tilting!
Black mage definitely feels like the one exception to the espirit rule, not because the mechanics dont attempt to compensate for it, but because its the job with the highest variance in how people build it, with either hyper spellspeed focused gearsets, or slower crit focused sets, and since the success chance varies by job, this would have a genuine impact, blm isnt the only job to have multiple optimal gcd speeds but it is the one with the most prominent variance between them.
