Yoship stated 6 years ago that there would be 2 main jobs/classes and they would announce IF there would be a limited or extra job, taking 7.0 in mind, id wager, taking 16 and 14, 2 main and no limited.
Although itd be great to get geomancer o bst, and emet mentioned 6-7 new areas, which of course we'll see 3 and in 8.0 we'll se the other 3.
And in 7.0, we'll suffer either thancred o yshtola death :(.
Physical range could go with a gun still but have it be like a soldier job. it would use a machine gun or even a sniper rifle, just have it be a two handed weapon. and the gameplay style could have it that it gets a bonus to damage/crit chance when it stands still for greater that 2-3 seconds but it can still use the moves while moving so that it doesn't feel like that clunky style that Bard and Machinist felt like in HW.
It probably wonât happen but we have Gunbreaker as a precedent soâŠ
Iâd love for the Ranged Phys job to be based off Rinoaâs playstyle with her Boomerfritz weapon, they could call it Ranger
Would also fit with the Scouting gear

4:11 If they did a whip class i presume it would be more lire outlaw rogue on WoW where you built up the gauge bar and then attack with the whip as a finisher, probably a pistol as you primary weapon, as for an Elementalist i think that would work best with a 'new world expansion' based in the new continent, maybe their version of a padjals, mediators between the elemental spirits of the forest and nature, and humankind. and yes likely a dps or tank.
I really hope no more limited jobs, they take to muchd evelopment away from the meat and potatoes.

When it comes to where weâre going, Iâm currently thinking Southern Othard, followed by Merecydia, into something thatâd be impossible to guess. Think the last zones of each expac for what I mean on that, whether it be Azys Lla, The Tempest, even Ultima Thule⊠I think Mere will have 3 zones and Southern Othard 1 or 2. But Iâm not sure on what the final zone will be.
Maybe cannoneer for a phys ranged!
They need to add Beast Tamer into FFXIV. It's wild that my favorite class fantasy is just absent from this game.
As far as weapon types that haven't been done yet go there's whips as you mentioned being a huge one. Then there's twin axes or tomahawks, a bo staff, double sided sword (like what Zidane uses for much of FF8 or Judge Gabranth in 12) that can split into two for certain moves. There's wackier or more unusual ideas like maybe a mirror, talismans, or possessed dolls (a la Lulu). Others mentioned it but a sword plus a gun as a pair I think is totally doable. (still sort of wish Gunblades transformed into guns sort of like Lightning's does, but I know they're going more off of FF8.) I think a Crossbow is totally doable too, there's no real overlap with Bard really they're pretty distinct, especially if we went like dual crossbows or something. I know we have Astrologian, but there could be physical throwing cards gambit style that maybe a gambler would use (though you could easilly marry the gambler and corsair concepts together imo.) I don't know if this is possible anymore but if Chemist or something like it had been put in as some sort of support I always speculated on something like an Aether Gun, distinct from the well…regular guns Machinists use. Sort of like Gun Mages in X-2 and the fact Chemists in FFT could use guns. We got Sage though so now I'm not so sure aobut that one.
There's also the very distinct possibility we may not get any new jobs, but rather a complete overhaul of the combat system and what we have. Hey it's possible, 7.0 is being set up to be an expansion of big changes.

Cant imagine this beast master. What is the point if BM will need to collect mobs to cast their spells… While blue mage can do this single handedly right now?
the thing i imagined was a Phys Ranged Chemical Damage Dealer That lobs Grenades/bottles of concoctions via darts or glass containers. Basically if the Lil kitten of the first went feral and decided on violence one day.
[DoT Master, or big FU Heal/Toxin/Debuff. Only Debuff, don't let it be known the WoL is dopin up the Scions Lol. Well.., Maybe alil aphro wouldn't hurt them too much to keep them from leaving. Madge]

Gotta go with my idea of Dynamis Caster.
By which I mean true-ly into the pure deep end of dynamis.(not like that of previous classes which only have flirted with it, or cured/ailed some of its negative effects.) Pure Damage Dealing Dynamis. With some utility contradictory to its typical role placement. Instead of shielding, dmg, mitigation. it could contain typical buffs like regen of mp, HoTS, or chained buffs between self or other party members.
(Thinking back on it as I wrote it, definetly not a selfless Dancer with BLM Strikes here.)
[Weapon would likely be a Emotional focus/Local Relevant Icon-Focus. Something of meaning towards the local populace that can be obtained normally. Like a Custom/Decorative Doll/Construct/Charm/Belief. Which could be easily glamoured to generally funny or random things. Or out of place items. Can't wait to see some Goth Lolita with their weird doll(almost like voodoo focus, but instead of said origins it would be one attuned to the player, or the local regions dynamis.) Become a Oracle in its own right?]
Now if a Scouting Class showed up, good ol DoT master Ranger/Mil-itary-spec/TrapMaster with Melee weapon akin to its DoT Mastering/Jack of all Trades class Ala G.Slayer would be nice.
I really hope they don't do puppetmaster as a limited job. Blue Mage is an awful experience as it is, no need to compound on it.
Hmm see i would personally love to see a throwing knife type ranged class. Although if a whip class came id love to play it

I'm excited for this! Not that I'm going to the fanfest (it is simply to far from my home, lol), but it is because they will streaming the stuff that will happen in the Fanfest. My money is on a physical melee class that is in the same armor set as that of NIN job (Scouting) because they gave us RPR for the maiming set, so it would be lonely if there isn't any job to share the armor set for NIN. Lol đ My other job prediction would be a Magical DPS as well :). Excited for the teaser trailer! It's high time they gave us something for 7.0!!
I feel like Geomancer could be ranged magical and be given the same treatment as a red mage, where they they do damage but also have healing abilities and can buff or debuff.
i have a bad feeling about that…
I think we will get beastmaster, because I think we will go to the areas around Dalmasca, and we need to wrap up the Bozja storyline, really. But I don't expect it to be announced before 2025's fanfest.
And I think the jobs will be a caster and a melee DPS. Not having a melee based job in an expansion sounds….wrong…so far when we did not have melee jobs we had tanks.
And we still need someone to share gear with Ninja.
For the melee, I expect some sort of Rune Knight.
For the caster, I expect something new.
we need a water caster since its the only element we do not have in any job at this time.
My caster prediction would be Oracle, using Ying and Yang magic having some group utility, so its more akin to RDM than BLM
my predictions for jobs would be:
1 standard job (melee physical dps / scouting gear) – maybe a 1handed axe wielder, like say Trainer or something akin to a Diablo Druid for flavor. probably can have a sidekick pet also.
1 limited job – Beastmaster, probably whip or 1handed axe wielding. BST would be a "collector" job like BLU and you can go around taming/catching various monsters to fill a bestiary. and in this case the pet is the focus of most if not all the skills.
for regions, i think they're going to fill in the rest of central Etheirys first.. so like the aftermath of Corvos post final days, parts of Ilsabard or South Othard areas like Nagxia and Dalmasca.
i dont think they reveal jobs in the first fanfest anyway right? but at the very least we would know where we're going for a start
