  1. I think the most amusing disconnect between a benchmark and the actual game came for me in the Endwalker benchmark trailer. In the trailer they show WoL on the special mount soaring through the skies with comrades, the mount music is playing, and everyone is headed for adventure. Cut to getting to that area in game, and the first mount they give you is… not one you would expect. Definitely meme worthy.

  2. for SMN i fully expect the summon rotation to be; Bahamut > Ifrit, Garuda, Titan > Phoenix > Ramuh, Shiva, Leviathan > Bahamut, etc.
so I'd be really shocked if that lightning ability wasn't some flavor of Ramuh ability. I think if they'd used ice or water for this it'd be too obvious of a hint, and that could very well be something else entirely, maybe an upgraded Fester or Energy Drain, maybe even a new instant cast Ruin animation.

I really want that WHM aoe ability to be something other than an aoe heal, or upgraded Aflatus Rapture like I assume it is. I don't think they'd give us a party buff like AST though, so it's probably a heal.
I'd be plenty happy if we get 2 Assize stacks and Seraph Strike gap closer, though.

I assume that the big purple star was the AST skill resolving, not WHM, but it's super hard to tell like this.

  3. Wait, Meoni, were you not aware that characters take a sip from a waterskin when consuming liquid based food items, such as coffee or orange juice?
That animation is already in the game.

  4. That "face" is being criticized because it genuinely looks like it came from a 15 year old SE game or some generic mobile game. It is blank whereas the other models had some lines on the forehead etc which is what makes a character appear unique. It is very generic jrpg face and that's not good. Later in the video it is hit or miss – sometimes he looks similar to the Meteor we know and sometimes not.
I think Krile looks okay so I can only hope I don't need to use the fantasia they will give us, but this is making me worry.

  5. Somehow I missed Warrior and Dragoon’s after three watches. Only ones I couldn’t spot.

So hyped, machinist finally has some spice to their kit. Media tour can’t come fast enough.

  7. As a RDM main, I quite approve of the thorned vine whip thing. I just hope it's not yet another combo ender step lol
My biggest takeaway from the Benchmark, though, is just how comfortable they are getting with having the characters actually do things, hold things, interact with things, etc. It's such a major upgrade over how they used to do things and even if that sort of interaction only happens in cutscenes it's still huge.

  8. i feel like 95% are Upgrades, because most Jobs have no more free Buttons on the Controller crossbars, maybe we are getting a prelude to Job mastery at lvl 100 so they can add onto that in 8.0

  9. The AST rework is making me second guess myself. My intuition wants to say whatever they did is a Horoscope upgrade, but upon further consideration maybe it's an upgrade to Aspected Helios? That would make sense if WHM is in fact getting a Medica upgrade; both being AoE Regens.
It could be placeholder audio, but whatever the SCH did sounded like it was using the Chain Stratagem SFX and does share similarities in the VFX. So I'm in agreement with notion that it might be a Chain Stratagem upgrade. Since the SGE looked like they're getting a Toxikon upgrade, that would also mirror the WHM/AST ability pairing, since Toxikon is acquired at the same level as Chain and is how the Sage contributes more damage, right?
That makes me wonder if Sage/Scholar are going to get mitigation action upgrades and White Mage/Astrologian get some kind of damage action upgrade? Healer action progression has the tightest patterning of any role (along with the Tanks), so I wouldn't be surprised.

  10. When I see the MNK's pose in their new ability, it makes me think that it could be an upgrade to Enlightenment. The way it shoots forward in a cylinder makes it seem that way too. We'll see though.

  11. After watching this, I actually decided to check out the ARR benchmark trailer… and wow. It's pretty surreal to see how much has changed since then, the WHMs even carry their staves in two hands, like they did way back in 1.x.

  12. Personally, I would love to have Quetzalcoatl as the lightning summon for Summoner. I think it would fit for the Dawntrail theme and I think that the creature design probably works better for Summoner than actual person looking Ramuh.

  13. I believe that "bug-eyed" race is the Yok Huy; they are a tribe of Gigant, of which we have seen the tribes of Gigas, Giants and Hecatoncheires. the info i read said the Yok Huy once had an empire that has since fallen
