Endwalker Delayed: A Brief History of Apologies in FFXIV vs. WoW

Yoshi-P’s emotional apology for the Endwalker delay so that it can be fine-tuned before launch, gave me an idea to take a trip down memory lane from some of Yoshi-P’s (FFXIV) apologies and Ion’s (WoW) apologies. Let me know what you think in the comments down below!

  1. Yoshi P actually understands players struggles because he first and foremost a player than an executive. That's why he's emotional not just from the feeling responsible but he understands that if he was a player, he himself will be very upset and disappointed. So that makes him feeling double guilty as an executive and fellow player. Anger and disappointed probably with himself for not being able to be punctual, and then guilty with the players for not being able to keep the promised release.

  2. 3:25 Didn't play WoW during this period but from my understanding the Heart of Azeroth was the endgame goal back then correct? So what he was literally saying was if you take it off, in essence don't participate in the endgame, the game would become more enjoyable?

  3. I…
    What?
Are you comparing the launch party of the entire ARR game with a bunch of loose Q&A sessions from Ion?
Like yeah I don't think Ion would cry his eyes out on stream if he had to delay WoW 10.0 by even 3 months but how is this even a remotely fair comparison?

Jesus fucking christ I swear to god you people are starved for content that validates your cognitive dissonance. Anything that says "FFXIV GOOD WOW BAD" is your daily dose of reaffirmation, which is extremely worrying and really annoying since these types of videos pop up all the time and everywhere.
Please touch some grass and / or stop trying to compare FF to WoW every fifteen seconds. FF is a good enough game to stand on its own without bashing other games.

  4. These examples are not comparable. One is an announcement, the other is devs responding to feedback and questions. I love FFXIV as much as every other player but this video is practically clickbait.

  5. Ex-WoW devs have even publicly stated that before players of WoW joined the team, Blizzard had no idea what they were doing, fought tooth and nail against their ideas and attempts to change the game, gave up trying to, then those persons made the game better, to only then leave the company half a decade later, for the situation to then go back to where it was before; Blizzard having no idea what they are doing. The team who did know what they were doing left to make Destiny then later left Blizzard all together.

  6. This make me love the FFXIV team so much and appreciate their work. You can totally feel that the emotion Yoshi-P yesterday was legit. And as someone who used to play wow for 11 years and totally forgot that…. it's so sad that it's depressing

  7. The problem has always been Ion. He always thinks he is the smartest man in the room and the stupid players just need to appreciate how super mega smart he is even if it kills the game.

  8. Every time I see Ion it's like, why is this clown allowed to keep his job? All these people lost their jobs and he progressively makes this game worse but he's allowed to stay

  9. i've never seen anyone so emotional over a two week delay. props to the the FFXIV team and Yoshi-P you can really tell the devs care about their game and thats rare for a game this big. much love from this new player

  10. funny thing is, a an initial jest, someone else could totally get away with responding how Ion does and could come off as jokey or funny, but they have to be charismatic and the known that they truly still do care about their players. It doesn't work for someone like him.

  11. I'm upset with the delay, but not at anyone in particular its just kinda disappointing news, but the explanation in the live letter from yoshi p makes perfect sense and didn't read in a super condescending way like how the wow devs talk. Good shit.
