So 28m of hand wave , who cares, no big deal. Not the biggest thing in the world of course but he did on the basis of the evidence present a falsehood.
"He has nothing to gain by coming clean if he did it…" Apart from personal integrity, sure, I guess.
I don't think you have to be good or knowledgeable when it comes to MMOs. You can do all kinds of nonsense and that too is a form of entertainment.
You can still do old raid content blind today because you aren't going to see the mechanics unless you specifically search them up. And even if you see them in normal mode, their behavior in Extreme and Savage may change as well, so it can still be blind. I was able to do Alphascape Savage blind long after its release because I never bothered to look up the videos. People don't care as much because it is old content, but looking up videos or even running it off stream does undermine a blind run because it's no longer blind.
And on the subject of Rich, his mistake was putting together a team with himself as the -1. You should be able to figure that out
The people who are shouting about cheating are so weird…
when i talked about "comenting without having all the info" i did it because it seemed to me, that in the last video, you were defending something just by disregarding the oposite opinion. you didn t talk about all that much about it and so it seemed like it was all a matter of some people, again, having a hard time accepting wow players. And that s not what s happening here. Again, it s not a matter of their chat smiles and little hints about stacks or spreads. it s about knowing mechanics before they happen, like in WOL. there were still mechanics Max knew nothing about? sure, it seemed that way to me, at least. And still, doing it blind or not it s hardly an issue, as Chris said, it s old content. lying about it though, it s not something i can defend
Guys Team liquid won’t sign you guys up 😂 even sfia told max that he was surprised that they came up uptime mirrors during shiva when they reviewed the fight after.
Do I think it was a blind run by Limit max? No. Should the drama be anywhere near as bad as it is now? No. You know that old family guy episode of Peter faking playing the piano and that stranger follows Peter around calling him a phoney? Yeah, that's the limit drama over blind prog right there. No one lost money on the stream. No one lost anything worth a dime other then some time lost. Where all you need to do in response is just not watch anymore. This is just another making a mountain over a mole hill drama moment right there next to Triple legend.
I wish my life was so boring I had to care about how a streamer plays a game. Like seriously how is this even a thing?
They didn't quit, in fact they just progged Savage a few weeks ago.
True colors
So many just bizarre takes in this video i don’t even know where to start, and honestly it’s just too much effort to even deal with.
wait can he both watch guides and strats before hand and also still mess things up since he didn't go in till now? Saying that they did mess up doesn't mean he isn't blind
Lol can't step on big streamer's toes huh.
Expected.
I don't think it should be drama, more than it's most, maybe not all aren't keen on him. It's not about him being from WoW, like with Asmongold it's completely different, Same with Rich's UCOB the drama behind his clears was done as he never said about doing it blind, he was just in it for the clear and fun and stuff.
But Limit aimed to do it blind right? That's what was implied, and many were excited to see his blind progs and how he would approach them, only to be disappointed. I do understand that no hate should be aimed at anyone, it's just that it's disappointing for many that were looking forward to his blind progs and end up not being blind at all, but it's not so much that, it's that he lied, and that's not something he should do! It makes him look bad!
He made money from quite a few people subscribing to his channel simply because he was advertising it as blind progression and it clearly wasn't blind. It was blatant false advertising lol.
Btw it has nothing to do with them being WoW players so why that was the first conclusion you jumped to idk because you don't see people saying this about Echo.
Guaranteed the contract for that deal will have a clause allowing them to be kicked out if they damage the teams image lol.
A cynical person might conclude that Limit wanted to show off their skill in a suddenly exploding mmo that to make themselves more attractive to a certain team that was working on a deal with them.
Limit progressing "blind" in this suddenly emerging market that doesn't have the negative publicity that WoW does would be more valuable ( maybe to the point of a slightly bigger stake ) than one that did it with guides.
It's basically asset inflation.
fun video, few things,
1.) didnt all the limit streamers have big banners on their streams saying "not reading chat, we're blind progging?" so the chat comment doesnt really have much ground?
2.) max "came up" with the billi billi strat (a good uptime strat that requires damn near perfect positioning of the small lion tethers) after seeing lions twice, and not even full lions he came up with after making it to lions twice. the first of which almost everyone died 1/3rd the way thru. also he instantly knew that it would swap from dps to tanks/healers while seeing dps being tethers both attempts. lions prog was the ultimate "oh he's not blind" for me, that or knowing that WoL extreme would absorb LB3 attacks if you used them.
3.) the hand knock back thing that chris mentions at 24:00, if you watch the video the first time they got there. only 2 ppl live the knock back. max being one of them. i forget the name of the ninja he ran with believe it started with an S, but you can hear him shouting to get away from the hand while max runs to it. like he knows its a knock back. 2nd time they say use anti knock backs and dies. but probably just assumed "oh this is a knock back ill use anti to get uptime. alot of guides wont say "you cant anti knock back this"
4.) most of the week 1 grps, what we did for lions was the people tethered would run to the edge of the arena and face the lions outside, but after 2 pulls max knew that you could place the 4 tethers in a warped trapezoid pattern to keep full uptime. a strat that didnt come out for a few weeks/ a month after the world first clear. that took hours and alot of wipes to min/max the exact distance.

this is a fun video where someone breaks down alot of different clips from max's prog where the community is pressing X to doubt.
enjoy your takes on this, and no disrespect, but have you guys thought about asking a more experienced raider their thoughts? between the two of you, you have many points of view for the community, with leveling, and gil making, etc, but raiding experience does seem to be a weaker part of the channel. Maybe when bryan starts raiding it'll be a fun series of videos. (congrats on your march/april raid team adventures btw) some new takes on the scene can be rather one sided when neither of the points of views have much experience in the scene.
I personally do not care either way. It's obvious that their IQ of FFXIV is no where as close as someone who has been playing for 8+ years. So even thinking – oh wow they are going to clear this so quickly blind, is a bit insane to be as a viewer. It does not matter if the counter argument is that these players are the top 1% of WoW gamers, these are two completely different games. Form your opinion, and move on – dislike Max as a streamer for this, your right – unfollow him? like it Max as a streamer – follow/sub w/e you want!
Limit max in eden: the genius puzzle solver
Limit max in asphodelos: uhhh what is going on
It was night and day.
Just let the man play a video game?? lol
I dislike that people are trying to label Max as a cheater. At worst, he lied about being blind. Saying he cheated implies that he did something that was against the rules. Watching guides isn't against the rules.
At the end of the day though, I don't care. I didn't watch his streams, I had no intention of watching his streams in the future, so this whole thing is basically meaningless to me.
Yikes
Both of you do not qualify to analyze the clips because both of you do not play the game at that level to understand the points he was making. Making it obvious that this video is a rescue project for Max.
People, watch the reaction of other streamers who blind prog that gave their takes on this like Seranaya and Alininio. You will see the difference.
I don't have a problem if it was blind or not, I dont think it's clear in any way. Though it is highly suspicious to me seeing how they did in Pandemonium vs how they did with Eden. In Eden if I recall they basically matched (in total hours) with the top ten while in Pandemonium they ended in the 30s if I remember right. That is a big jump and says to me one of two things. 1. Someone on their team was studying pugstrats beforehand for Eden or 2. They were woefully underprepared for Pandemonium. I get they aren't a ffxiv raid team, but with how much Max had commented about how its transferable skills it shouldn't have mattered. It is suspicious but nothing more I don't think it's as big of a deal as its made to sound. Though I also think if one of them was not blind stating that it's blind progression is disingenuous. That's the biggest issue IMO that as a content creator you have your image and that is what you sell yourself on. As a result of this whole shindig Limit Max will always be seen as someone suspicious for me and not someone I will watch. At the end of the day it doesn't affect him on a large scale if one person no longer watches him.
I just started today I hope this game has a friendly community. I could use some friends
it's obvious, cmon lol
I think some of this also has to do with this stigma that WoW players have on 14 that our content is too easy. And people anticipate to see how these players actually do progression only to find out that one of them was cheating. FF14 players could be looking at this as a, "WoW players can talk the talk, but can they walk the walk?" type of situation and this could be looked at as a "no they can't?"
