In the wake of all the World of Warcraft drama, Final Fantasy is slowly becoming the top MMO on the market and there are good reasons for this.

I think Guild Wars 2 beats ffxiv on every aspect at the moment.
I like ESO better.
almost like wow token cash ain't going into game development huh.
it's not, it's the king of weebs
No game with furries and young girls is good
I'm confused, because everything I look up says FF14 sits at an operating cost of between $400M and $450M, while WoW sits at $200M
I wouldn't crown 14 yet. I say WoW still has the crown…. but it's slipping. The king of MMO's IMO is still based on prolonged user count. Not the small bursts like what 14 is getting now. The new players are still under that honeymoon period where everything is new, they have tons of content to do because… well, they haven't done it yet. 14 vets are feeling the content drought, but only been given life seeing the new sprouts come in. I'm interested to see how the new players see the game after they've caught up to current content.
WoW raid design is good and definitely different than FF. It is just the current systems, lore, longevity, and how raids are introduced to players are terrible right now to have a fulfilling experience.
From a 16 year WOW vet, i will give me honest opinion not a addicted delusional opinion.I started playing FF14 a few months ago and i wanted to see what this game has to offer. I now see why this game is so popular. The passion, effort, desire, and knowledge far outways WOWs current state by leaps and bounds. There is no denying, FF14 is the king of MMOS now and it is not even close.I spent years dismissing FF14 and stayed on the hamster wheel which is WOW.I spent years of my life acting like a zombie never really enjoying WOW, i played it because i felt a need to .That is not the case anymore, FF14 has revived the MMO player in me, and i am now happy and excited about playing a MMO again.I am not going to argue with WOW players because i know some of them are in a state of denial now like i was.The current state of WOW is like hitting rock bottom, most will see this and move on, what makes me sad is that some will not.
I just cant stand the graphic design in eastern games. Tried FF and just cant…. The boyband looks, over the top effects. So for me it doesnt matter how Good the gameplay is, sadly. Wish i could get behind it but… No
I’ve tried the game three different times, and I can not get into it. I don’t like the eastern style graphics and animations, I don’t like the constant zoning and zoning screens, (this is why I didn’t like EQ 2).
it's true tho, no matter how one feels love it or that it FF14 objectively is a better game or at least more of a total packet, to say a few: more diverse content for a wide range of the player, great QOL stuff for someone having a job and a family to feed, better production value (graphical quality, animation, spectacle, MUSIC,…) way better story execution and presentation, more stable and yes predictable contents release cycle, better communication from service provider to the customer.it's quite the shame that many games can be better than FF in some elements but they do not have a backing from a prolific triple A company like square enix or blizz to make a more complete game like FF, if WOW is truly die and FF become the new king it might be the same story happen with WOW all over again.
WoW raid design is different but not better.. NOT worse either.
if you put the pros and cons of each mmos raid design on a scale
it would be pretty even i think.
Yoshi P mentioned this before. MMO is a service, and that is, for players to have fun. And as a perfectionist, he wants to offer this service to every type of players out there. This also promote a healthier player mix (age, gender, etc…).
I will classify FF is the most well rounded MMO in the market with many fun elements. As a bonus, it has a story than very few games ( or even books, TV shows) that can match up to.
"You could argue that pvp is the weakest part of FF" I agree, but it's still better than WoW's unbalanced mess of what was once called pvp xD
guys we already have Final Fantasy 14 PVP It's called Counter-Strike racing with a flashbang into the enemy team and it's so good that Square enix had the brilliant idea to ask Valve for its development
The game is not good enough. Opinions.
I played FF and found it to be alright and no where near to wows heyday. At the end of the day the argument is contrived I just want both games to be good
WoW was great when it's own progression systems weren't undermined by officially sanctionned RMT. WoW will become good again once the token is removed. And if they can't/won't do it, then rip.
A Colón, when you get to play the newest raids, you'll change that opinion too, the mechanics the transitions, everything is fresher
You wanna know why FFXIV beat WOW for me as a new player who started both about a month ago and is now solely playing FF? I'm almost finished with a realm reborn, an 8 year old game…you know how much I feel like I've missed out on being THAT late to the party? Absolutely nothing. As a new player in WOW I feel like I'm starting halfway through a story I have no idea about, and like I've missed so much content. That's what did it for me.
I love this game so much roleplay, I can take my sweet sweet time on msq I love it. Best mmo I have played so far
Accollon you should do an interview with yoshi p once you start playing
Endlessly reworking all the old raids as the classes are constantly changing in WoW is such a monumental task, that its never going to happen, unfortunately. I still think the combat system in WoW just feels so much better that I can't see myself liking PvP in FF as much, and I don't think Endwalker is going to change that.
