  1. 100% with you on AOE shapes:
    Going between Conal to Circle positions to hit mobs felt like the AOE version of positionals;
which is something else they've been steadily removing, even from Monk.

  2. Honestly I think this video is a bit short sighted, some of the arguments Fair. But I honestly think complaining about things like Cleric Stance, and Tank stance and enmity changes. Stuff like this, Im glad they changed or removed them. Also I think the argument about Cone vs Circle aoe is Absolutely stupid and to me Doesn't matter at all. It doesn't affect the game whether its a cone or circle. Can one have a preference of what they like. Yes. Does it matter? Fuck no. Also HW and ARR are in my opinion the worst gameplay experience ever for jobs. It wasn't complex. It was Jank poorly design for the most part. It is alright for certain skills to be removed, or to be added if it helps make the playing experience better. For me Dark Knight is the worst of the 4 tanks in a gameplay perspective. Sure it has good dps, But its good dps means absolutely nothing if the Job is not fun to play. It has the most boring gameplay loop out of the 4 tanks and from SHB to EW nothing really changed about the job. Oh sure now living dead gives you a Drain effect to heal yourself. But that doesn't fix the issue that drks gameplay is just… Stagnant. I know people would want GNB to lose hypervelocity and dump the potency into burst, saying that would streamline the experience for the Job. Anyway, I don't think the video is bad. Just I don't agree with the a good portion of this video.

  3. I 100% agree that the removal of Samurai’s conal damaged the overall gameplay of mob clearing. Before it was all about weaving in and out of danger zones while maintaining uptime on as many targets as possible. There is a satisfying movement that is cohesive with the conal directions. The class now feels quite dull when it comes to dungeon clearing.
Don’t even get me started on Kaitan because I feel naked without it.

  4. If you cannot change a Job too much–in particular, in a way that compromises the Job's identity–because it will harm people who have already invested too much time into it, then how do you improve Jobs for the better without hurting such people? Are the devs locked into a particular philosophy for a Job's design in the first iteration of it? What if the philosophy is fundamentally flawed and needs reform, but people have already sunk thousands of hours into it?

  5. You hit the nail on the head. It's very frustrating as a long time player, to have these changes like removing Kaiten, turning all AoE rotations into circles, nerfing interesting utility like Expedient, because it all serves to make everything samey and boring for those of us that actually want the complexities of a job. If a casual can't use Kaiten properly in normal content, it does nothing but make the dungeon take an extra minute or two, but removing it takes away one more fun optimization and job differentiation from high end players that want a challenge and variety. Casuals don't care, if someone can't learn to use Kaiten or figure out how to use a cone attack, they are not at all the demographic for things like savage. The oversimplification is just bad because the casuals don't care or need to but the longtime players, savage or not, just feel bored and frustrated.

  6. yes, i played 300 hours of MW3, was proud of my .5 KD and was looking to improve it. couldnt' afford the next game in the series or i would have played i but anyway… now CoD is just trash and i have no desire to play it.

  7. I do feel like the complexity of the jobs have been lowered, like when OG Ninja could feed enmity to a tank through some ability, or your tanks and healers being able to switch between tank/healer or a damage stance to deal more damage. I do miss those times. And I’m a casual…

Also, I felt that, lol 12:40

  8. I completely agree. I was against them taking away aggro management and I was gaslit by the community about it being a good thing. I don't play tank anymore now, it's just not interesting. Why would I play a dps without the complexity of a dps rotation?

  9. I played Gunbreaker because I wanted to use Squall, Seifer and Lightning's iconic type of weapon and the way it references their games? Not necessarily because of how it must play in 14.

  10. I want more difficulty in my rotation too :/ and i have never cleared savage, only current content extremes.

Just remembered that my friend and i were debating turning the rdm 3 button melee combo into 1 button and i just was like: no??? That feels terrible! Like, for comparison, you can take pills to get your required nutrition but why do that when you could have a flavourful and satisfying meal??

Idk what the answer is. MMOs are a living breathing experiment

  11. This is good feedback and a great discussion on skill ceiling and skill floors. I am sure you are well aware, but the devs do enjoy watching videos about criticism and pros and cons of their game. However, Yoshi P mentioned that most of his dev team does not speak English and that getting a translator is problematic (since their localizing team is busy, well, localizing and Yoshi P's lead localizer, Koji Fox is very busy juggling between management, The Primals, and so forth) and it is hard for them to get a translator on-demand (aka willing to work Japanese hours when most translators are overseas). Maybe having Japanese subtitles (auto mostly works) will get the message to the devs faster?

  13. I like the reduced kits, still being relatively new to playing an xpac.
I think complexity should be situational, not by default.
    Still, yer point is understood

  14. This is just a conspiracy but I think they changed summoner because they want to introduce a new caster in the future that focuses on dots like warlock in wow. With summoner no longer using dots it opens up a "different" caster they can create later
