What makes it unique.. I am not sure.. many games have similar approach.. classes jobs.. (some of them have hybrid class / job which you can mix freely), almost every game have crafting system.. almost every game have hard mode bosses and dungeons (savage), almost every game have a quest line you have to track even if you don't want to.. those things not unique IMO.
Probably most unique part about it worse PvP balancing and content created in any MMORPG, I guess you cant make something worse even if you try it is somewhat unique
FFXIV is really growing i have played to the second expansion pack but i would love to get back into it again i cant decide between ffxiv and eso
Recent wow convert here. For me it was that the devs want to give players freedom to play how they want. Changing jobs, customization, etc.
Is that a left handed prs in the corner?
One of the things I REALLY enjoy about FFXIV is the amount of passion that people have for their characters. From Discord profile pictures, to the fan art, to the housing themes that people come up with, it's refreshing as hell to see people so at home and open to expressing themselves. I'm just an observer of these sorts of things, but I believe that players who engage with the game that fully are the true heart of MMOs.
I’ve played several online games and most recently ESO who has a good community but I’ve never experienced anything like ff14 . I’ve had a couple bad experiences too of course but it has been overwhelmingly amazing
I'm a soppy blob so bear with me, but with the awful year and a half we've all been going through, it has been hard to put words on the fear I (all of us) have felt. Logging in and experiencing the storyline together with others has helped me work through a lot. Crying with everyone in 5.3 has been really cathartic and I'll always be greatful to the dev team and the community for this amazing experience /soppy
I am a whole 15 hours in and loving the game and the community
Zepla HQ is what makes FF14 Unique.
Man, Sokens speech made me UGLY cry. I haven’t cried like that since NieR: Automata came out.
Your videos are awesome don't stop making them haha, I just started a few days ago and I'm a lvl 26 lancer going dragoon on Lamia. The community is so much better then when I played wow back in the day it's awesome everyone is chill so far I can't wait to get thru the story and all the hours of content. I appreciate your videos and the wealth if information in them.
you need help seriously.
the community! I have played so many MMORPG's, this has been the first time I'm genuinely impressed with the community, it's something that will keep me playing and also encourage me to pay it forward and I hope that never changes
When a dev team loves a game it shows in ways that are difficult to explain, but very apparent
The community is truly fantastic! This is my first ever MMO and I played for about 300 hours before needing a break in the post HW patches. And I only came across a handfull of mean people, one who left the dungeon and got replaced by a veteran who was super helpful to me as a very much noob healer. Great game! Downloading it again now after have taken a break for 6 months.
Played WoW since mid BC . Tried FF14 just over 6 years ago made it to lvl 44 and went back to WoW for a new xpac and played until 4 days ago when I re subscribed FF14 and unsubed WoW due to nothing to do in the game and everything been so time gated with renown system finish in 1 day and lock for the week. I have had nothing but good experiences in FF14 over the last 4 days I have not met 1 miserable player, I teleported to a city and a random person gave me 500k gil and said have fun. I play WHM and have never had a bad experience in a dungeon or raid so far I don't think I will be going back to WoW anytime soon. I am lvl 55 now and Cant wait to make it to 80
Hey, old wow player here who just started playing the game a few days ago! It's hard to wrap my brain around the raid design but it all sounds great tbh, focus on making the game fun instead of catering to 1% of the player base (mythic raiding, looking at you). Would you say that the "savage" difficulty is at all similar to heroic raids in wow, it's quite accessible for most people but still challenging?
Ff14 seems like warframe to me. The devs truly care and you see that.
Remember back in the middle ages when i started playing Everquest the community was super, my first ever raid we had a raid leader that explained the fights and which resists and such was needed, did not have to feel lost in there in WoW for instance even asking a question about a fight you never done before could get you kicked, not a fan of this must now every little thing about every fight raid or dungeon or you are not welcome mentality.
I started playing 3 days ago to tell you how much I like it I will just say Im level 50 now… I also have already had the awesome experience in the community when I messed up a dungeon and got behind the group rallied around me and said "no worries it happens" It seems small to say something like that but when you feel like crap for messing up an objective for everyone, for someone to say a nice thing like that and not be toxic is amazing and something Im not used to coming from League of Legends and FPS games. Kudos to the community, I am now happily apart of <3
Final Fantasy has always had incredible music. I wouldn't have expected them to scrimp on the soundtrack for their MMO.
This video gave me the feels. Touching stuff. Having played WoW since launch, I feel there was a time when WoW had a similar connection to its players but that time has passed. FF XIV is where it’s at.
I almost watched all your videos…but I just want to hear you talk while im checking the paper of my students,..
As a long time wow player the fucking WEIRDEST THING about FF14 is that… like…. FF14 players, like. IDK. They like, LIKE the game. And the Game Devs. So FUCKING WEIRD. WOW players famously always hate the game and the game devs lmao. For a decade and a half of playing, every rando I group with shit talks it, yet plays it anyway.
But FF14 players actually seem to love the game and it's devs lol. It's so… wholesome. For a weeb/fetish/furry game. =P
FFXIV talks to me like I'm an adult. The quests and stories actually respect my intelligence.
I'm like a week in to it… It's taking a lot of getting used to, coming from WoW. But I already feel hooked, completely invested.
Coming from an absolute noob's perspective, This game is vibrant, it feels good to do good, it is brightly colored, and it's not afraid to make you smile. These things make FFXIV stand out from it's competition, which is full of gloom and grit. Yes, this game has it's moments of gloom and grit, but when it fits the narrative, it doesn't feel forced.
And also, like you stated, I haven't felt rushed to hit level cap, I actually feel more rewarded for taking my time instead of rushing to endgame like (WoW) others would have you do.
Just started playing a few days ago and i am hooked, Loving the story and have played nonestop for the past few days! The community is one of the nicest people out there in the gaming world, always ready to answer questions and help me out when i am in need.
FFXIV: says hello and goodbye in the chat during dungeons and raids, and sometimes hold conversations and/or someone giving tips to a sprout
WoW: getting kicked for being friendly and talking in the chat during dungeons
I'm here from Asmongold's stream. I think Zepla is a great ambassador for FFXIV. She represents the game incredibly well. Thanks!
Is weebs are an accepting people
I've was a WoW player for about 10 years. But that cruel corporate coldness that slowly worked its way through blizzard completly killed any love I had for that game. Its so sad seeing blizzard going the way of EA. But then 2 days ago a friend mentioned FFXIV and I had played a little before and enjoyed it, so i figured yea sure why not ill give it a try i havent played an mmo in a while. And coming into this community is like coming home. I've never been fan of final fantasy but this game and the people around it really do make it special. It's one of the few games where you truly get more out of it the more you put in. On top of the obvious love and care the devs and even the suits have for the game is just astounding. I cant wait to experience all the stories this game has to offer. And also, fantastic video
Have you ever considered doing a guide on how you turn the 7 syllables of Final Fantasy Fourteen into one syllable?
Yoshida: Why are you working idiot!
That was very emotional. You like to see them so close. Soken is a trooper.
A huge strength in FFXIV is the content they make, ages very well. You can do any old stuff and it still helps your character in some way.
Few weeks behind, but totally cracks me up. I was tanking coppermines dungeon and after a few pulls someone said in chat, hey, plz turn on your tanking stance. I was like what, thinking to myself? I'm using it? he said thank you. Sooo I just kept going. I'm betting I drove him crazy that dungeon because while I was not losing aggro to mobs I wasn't aware the ability was a set it and forget it ability lol. I was using it as a spell that I needed to refresh every 10s …. so I was activating it and disabling it 10s up 10s down lol. Hopefully the player didn't think I was doing it purposely to mess with them. Anyhow I can't whisper someone after they leave the party( at the end of a run) on the free trial to explain or thank them. Maybe our paths will cross again but anyhow, I definitely earned my sprout tag on that one lol.
While I just don't have the patience to play the same game for over 100 hours, and for that reason mmos just aren't for me, I still am super excited to see what the ff14 team can do with ff16. If they put in even a quarter of the passion they put in 14, 16 will be absolutely incredible.
it quite unique for me to ship my character with Haurchefant since my like 3rd mission in coerthas only to have just watched him die… i am offended at this game. My warrior of Light needs a genuine ray of light to fit the name. Where now can i find one?
People say wow is a game thats back loaded with content in the end game and almost nothing in the beginning. But man there is so freaking much to do in ffxiv's end game, way way more than I've ever had to do in wows end game. Maxed out my botanist, started raising my paladin and armorer, using my max level whm to do the raids, Doing treasure hunts, joining hunt trains, farming my whm relic out. Like i have so many reasons to cone back to the game every day.
2:20, actual tears in my eyes. I fucking love when people are supportive and make such a difference for someone that really needs to feel positivity in such a hard moment
Hi, I want to share my view on some contents in wow, because I'm just starting in xiv so, cannot say anything yet, but, I think that, there's a lot is misconception on wow content, you see, all the content you have there, you "have" to do it, because it gives you a reward, a piece of gear you want and I HAVE to do it to get it, it doesn't matter if I like that content or not, I'm not able to get a gear like that in anywhere else, what I'm trying to say is, wow is making content for one and only purpose of "gear", oh, you don't like this dungeon? Too bad, your item is here or worst, your bis item is here, I miss the time where you would just gather some friends and play a content for the sole purpose of doing that content because it's fun, because you have your friends there and you want to kick some monster ass together. That's honestly what I expect from xiv, I want to enjoy playing again, I want that feeling of killing some monsters just because I'm having fun and not because I need to fill a bar and complete a chore so I can do another bar in somewhere else. Ok, I've extended too much already, thanks for reading until here and have a good weekend friend, believe, your mount will drop this time
So have you tried ESO? curious what your take on that is
One unique thing about FFXIV is, like Elder Scrolls Online and World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy has had a long history in gaming.
Who's cutting onions..
I absolutely loath when MMOs put you as "the hero of the story". The direct opposite of a selling point for me. I dont know where it started, but I remember when it got injected into wow and it was an instant turnoff. If I want to play a game where I am the grand hero, I'll load up a single player RPG
What has kept me in ffxiv is how it doesn't feel like a grind, even ARR content doesn't seem too grindy to me
Auto subs: pharmacy14
Me: ah yes, one dose a day
FF14 looks more alive than other MMORPG since a moment, WoW should have been putted on maintenance mode since a long time already, not because it's no longer a good game but I think its time is pretty much done, as nothing last forever and FF14 will have the same fate.
It would be wise from Square Enix to figure out how FFXV could be brought to the fans before this game starts to lose popularity.
I have been playing for 6 days now, and as much as I am enjoying my time in the game, I have to say the "community" is almost non-existent. I have no doubt your (bubble) community is great, especially towards you, but most people I have ran into/partied with are there purely for themselves and couldn't care less about others let alone noobs.
I would like to go all in on this game but as I continue playing I see less and less reason too. Playing solo, sometimes by choice and sometimes not is fine, but gets old real fast Hoping things change at some point but I am doubtful it will. Still, love your videos, you are so passionate about the game that it does help me to keep logging in
Commenting on your comment that the business is not your friend; i.e., their job is to make money, I agree! BUT! What makes this game so great is that, in some ways, you feel good supporting a company where you're getting a tremendous amount of value for your money!
Yes, yes, yes… There's a money grab in the cash shop, but it's all optional, glamour, and clout. You don't NEED any of it to get the most out of the game. That is why this company is so great
