  1. HW Spoilers in here:
It sounds really weird to say but this game needs narratively to have the confidence to kill off some MAIN characters. Make the stakes real, why do you think so many latched on to Haurchefant?! In a case like this where your main character absolutely needs to not only be powerful but also immortal and the best, the consequences and stakes need to exist around the character. You're invincible? Good for you, what about this city? What about these characters you've known the whole time? The narrative could use some good strong central themes around this, like "even with all your power you cannot save anybody" bc right now, it's simply not the case here. Your plot armor extends to your friends

  2. I tend to stay from FF14 streamers, except for those I kind of trust like Zepla for example. Used to watch Xeno but eventually I found him very arrogant and stopped listening to what he has to say. Heard of Arthars but stayed away, I didn't want to invest my attention on someone who might turn out to be an ass. This interview helped me to understand him a bit so now I'm more interested. I liked the story of him and Xeno at LV FanFest, might even have softened my dislike for Xeno a little.

  3. Hard disagree with Arthars on 15:0018:00 . I do not want the late 90s/early 2000s grinds back. Running everywhere, manual forming groups, waiting forever to start a dungeon, super punishing travel and clunky systems…. nah man. QOL is good.

  4. I'd love to see Zepla do one of these with Asmon one day. I know he doesn't play XIV anymore but I'd be very curious to see his opinion on the game after not playing it for awhile. And perhaps Zep can talk a little bit about the stuff in the game he hasn't played yet. FFXIV in ShB/EW is a very different game from HW.

  5. The thing related to this, that's really baffling, is that one one hand they say that the "party debuff timers are optional", but then you have mechanics like P10S where you kind of have to have them on. Technically you can do with only your own debuff timers by checking the starting time (short or long) but its much easier and recommended to have it on so you can compare the two debuffs. Its not a hard mechanic but I see people mess that up a lot since they never learned to look at the debuff timers for debuffs that are not their own, and you were never able to do so before anyway.

  6. People that stream their world race prog with mods on the screen deserve their bans not for nodding but for pure stupidity. How can you do ultimate but have so little brain.

  7. See the problem with Ultimate Raiders, of which l am one, is that they need to be given adventure, they need to be given a challenge, they cant go out and find it themselves<<Now this doesnt apply to me, I am the Midcore we seek. Arthars, Zepla, Happy, Xenos and these other streamers/ULT Raiders are not the Vox Populi of FFXIV, the game is fine, the new raids and Trials are fun, these guys are just old and bored, go play something else. If all you can do is find flaws in something you love and support then go away from it, youre hurting and disrespecting the people who make the game. The game isnt the problem people like these 2 are. lm 41, played for 10 years and still have fun doing all the content in FFXIV, these streamers are the problem, not the solution.

Seriously, go watch newer streamers have fun in the game and discover where the actual state of the game is at, not these hasbeens and old bored guys.

  8. 35:20 really puts it into perspective.
A person that's used to Savage raids finds them easy as hell, you just watch the guide and it's done, leave the PF if they wipe twice.
A person that's not used to it, will ask why you call the circles for towers and why is it named limit cut, JP, Hector or what's a "drifting"?

It's like a Martial Art's master, explaining that it's easy to perform the moves, just train for 15 years first and then you'll understand it as well, duh.

  9. Can someone explain to me why they think that putting in 3 ultimate that like 5% of the playerbase even attempt into the game would make it better? Would be better if they focused on something new and didn't do any ultimate at all at this point.

  10. For me the hardest part of getting into this savage tier isn't a fear of making that plunge, or anything to do with the mechanics. It's just that 5 months into the tier or whatever it is, there are not a lot of people who seem to want to go in, prog, and learn the content organically. PF at this point just wants clears for loot, and it's tough to find a group for anything challenging that doesn't disband after a wipe or two.

I haven't had any luck with the discords, and if there are other community avenues to find people for this stuff, I'm unaware of them. So surprisingly for me, the hardest aspect of trying to get into raiding is the community of the game. Because while they're not as toxic as say the average WoW midcore player, there seems to be significantly less people who are capable of doing the harder content, that haven't already farmed out the harder content.

I did have a static that was fun in the first tier, but none if those people made it to 6.2. So I'm sure it'll be easier to find people in 7.0 to start a new group with when the expansion is fresh. But that's pretty far away, and it'd be nice to really play the game between now and then outside of roulette farms and old relics.

  11. Iā€™m getting tired of seeing ultimate raiders dump on ex fights. Zeromos was a bit on the easier side but then we had Golbez the patch before and I can guarantee ultimate raiders have died to the gale mechanic at one point.

  12. Much appreciated to Zepla, for getting all the content creators in the FFXIV community and picking their brains about the state of the game. We need more of this!
