  1. I grew up on console so by the time I got to PC gaming it was the only option TBH. FPS games are the only thing I did switch to KB and mouse. Even on SAM where I use every single cross hotbar slot its doable, so healer must be doable. My issue would be i'm too lazy with setting up binds and selecting party members quickly to savage raid so I probably won't be healing anytime soon.

  2. Eh I dont care if people use mods but cheats to do damage or invincibility or cheese fights is wrong. Theres no challenge in the game like that. And if you crash well thats on you for sharing mare.

  3. I don't mind people use mods for clothing or something like that, I DO mind when people use cheat plugins, like in PvP, Hunts or anything that give advantage over other players and we will reach the point where FF14 will add protection over those things and everyone will suffer. And yes there will be people: "I don't use mods so I don't care" clearly not knowing how much of the FF14 community actually using them and can't imagine if FF14 bans over a million people, which from company standpoint is a huge revenue loss.

  4. Every now and then I try to play with a controller but I can never get it setup to where it feels good/natural for me. I think it's just based on experience in past MMOs like you kinda mentioned. I definitely agree, just use what you're comfortable with, it'll be fine lol

  5. I personally cannot use controllers, and not for the lack of trying. My hands are very small, and most controllers make it so I am unable to reach joysticks comfortably, resulting in me not being able to move well. I have tried different controllers, but there is not a single one that is an actually small and quality controller to use, and originial PS or XBOX controllers are simply too big and hurt my hands very quickly. While it is a problem with keyboards and mice as well, it is less of an issue.

  6. I'm from North America. I started on Console PS4 and did controller, for hours and just did not like it. Hooked a keyboard and mouse up to my PS4 (which counts as third party tools btw) and preferred it. Eventually bought the game on PC and use a small keyboard with an mmo mouse that has all of my buttons on just my thumb! its very comfortable and very easy LOL. Controller is just worse i've tried it for hours. i feel the same way about Splatoon, just sticks are WORSE than playing motion controls theres literally 0 debate to be had.

the funniest thing about the third party tools debate is: everything is a third party tool. if i had done what i was doing with my keyboard and mouse hooked up to a ps4 in overwatch? i would've been banned, vac banned, ip banned, etc, because keyboard and mouse vs controller is a wash (it's why controller is inherently worse). because that's technically a third party tool AND cheating in their scope of things. everything is a third party tool in relation to the 1st party (console maker or game maker) so if you use anything outside of what comes in the box, ur a third party tool user. it's a genuinely stupid debate because of how vague the language is. even csgo banned players for using certain keyboards because theyre considered cheating third party tools. a keyboard lmao. so unless they give a list of things that cannot be used, it is 100% a grey area unless its a direct cheat like the zoomhack debacle or auto aim or wallhacks etc

  8. My personal take when it comes to controllers is I'm sure that you can do fine, but they're not for me. The button combinations are a learning curve, and as a healer main, having to manually scroll through the party list with the D-pad is hell. Sure, keyboard and mouse is objectively faster, but FFXIV is not the type of MMO that requires fast twitch reactions to stuff. Fights are much slower in pacing than, say, World of Warcraft. Though, with some jobs you do actually run into an issue of button limitations. You can only slot on, what, 32 abilities? At least without having to switch the hotbar (which means you will not be able to monitor the CD on those abilities). Sage, at least, has this issue. Counting Sprint and LB it just barely goes over.

As for the part about keyboard being uncomfortable and having small hands, an MMO mouse (the ones with the thumb grid on the side) are an absolute godsend. I got one and never looked back. It's great not just for MMOs but for really any game where you can switch weapons/whatever with the numbers, like Minecraft. Even without one you can still keybind smartly to use buttons that are near WASD for your abilities. Some people do that. I don't get how you think it's just a "special controller" when it's nothing like a controller at all, lol.

Clickers do absolutely deserve a special place in hell though.
