Yay finally!!! I have been begging the dev team for more traditional Samurai armor to be added in the game. I love all the armor in FFXI and have been clamoring for those to be in FFXIV as well. This is sorely needed and hopefully a sign of more to come. 👌
Finally, matching armor for the helmets.
Since we got all the zodiac as helmets this makes sense… but the set doesn't seem themed which is a bit unexpected, that way they could have changed the themed detailing and make easy sets for the next 12 years too. Now they'll have to come up with something else for the coming years.

I'm not too sure on the full details of Japanese traditions, but I've heard that cranes are a symbol of longevity and when seen at New Year's celebrations, it's a way of saying 'I wish you a long life and happiness'. I love the silken effect on the banner; hopefully it might give a sheen appearance with the right lighting

It was always a cool badge of honor to wear the dyeable Genji gear that was locked behind Deltascape Savage. It made your character unique, and was actually proper samurai type traditional armor. However, I'm really pleased that this is being introduced so others who haven't been able to acquire the Genji pieces have a shot at a traditional aesthetic which is quite lacking for samurai in FFXIV.

Regardless of the reason, I am happy we are not getting a hat, it honestly sucks when you participate in the event but cannot enjoy the rewards. In previous years the whole event was seen as a waste of time for a majority of Hrothgar and Viera players, some liked to participate for the housing item, but when you play as Horthgar/Viera and also don't own a house the whole event turns into a massive disappointment. Though this solution doesn't fix the main problem, aka hats for this races, this gives at least a nice and fun reward that everyone can enjoy.
