It's not just subs, but all purchases get taxed appropriately now.
Jokes on them. They don't accept my card anymore so can't charge me more.
Took them long enough. But I'm one of the lucky ones still in my state (for now).
I was already paying sales tax, like I do on pretty much anything I buy. It's the law. This is not a "sub cost increase."
People pay subs still? lol
Yeah calling this a "sub cost increase" is just misleading, just say they're just being taxed now. Honestly hate clickbaity titles like that.
Can I thought I can avoid the tax
Friendly reminder that putting in false location information for purchases calculating sales tax is considered tax evasion, and if you do it enough, you can face legal consequences.
The part about this I find absolutely stupid, is this is the first update on anything sub related in almost a month while at the same time people with visa debit cards still littlerly can't give them money for a sub.
I think it's been taxed for awhile
Mass media once again using borderline lies for click-bait…
I've been paying tax on mine for years.
Zepla admits to tax evasion?
False alarm people go back to your daily activities
Digital products are exempt from sales tax in some states, and some states don't even have sales tax. Also, as some others have commented, providing a false address to avoid it is tax evasion and illegal, probably not worth it for a few bucks a month. We're all adults, right? It's not a big deal.
i bet what happened is that the corporate accounting was not doing it correctly (because that's the best for everyone) until the states caught on and then they just start paying penalties and doing it correctly later on for whichever jurisdictions call them out. that is a legit corp tax strat because the tax laws are poopy hard to understand.
Join us tomorrow on how to commit tax fraud with Zepla.
I've been paying taxes on mine for years now, whatever game.
i've never had tax with buying games online where i'm from
I also chalk this up as “you mean they weren’t before? Oh well, barely matters if at all, moving on.”
