Why do you think they add this new currency to the game?
It adds an uneccessary step for Xbox players and stinks of Microsoft. So instead of just going to the store and purchasing something, now you have to go to the Microsoft store, THEN the FFXIV store. This is stupid, but it's Microsoft, so it doesn't surprise me. They always have to be different.
Can't wait to play tomorrow so i can finally buy all of the expansions
The new currency is coming for the same reason that if you buy FFXIV on Steam, you can't buy the expansions from SE. Each platform has its payment processors and each platform wants a cut of sales. This is why in PSO2 there are different sales on AC depending on whether you have the game on Steam, Windows Store/Xbox, EGS, or Playstation. A confusing mess for the end user. Things are likely neater on Playstation because Sony and Square Enix are both Japanese companies with a long relationship from the Final Fantasy games.
