  1. I think It would be cool having an achievement tracking how many weeks you have clered savage fights and after a certain amount of weeks you get double the amount of books per week. It's horrible how gearing feels right now. What I really want is that they remove the gear restrictions in savage way earlier max after 10 weeks after realise. Well at least the belt is gone after the expantion 6 books less to farm.

  2. I would not want the weekly cap to go up over time. The way I treat the tomes is I cap then at the first of the week, so by day two or three I’m done. Then the rest of the week is “me” time. I can do stuff like extreme mount farming or deep dungeon or gathering, or take a couple days off and not worry about not hitting my cap for the week.

  3. Over haul the entire equipment system so items have more of a life cycle then a whole 3 months, honestly kills a lot of the reason to play the game beyond a super casual player who only plays patch week and then disappears. Raiding isn't even about chasing the gear for the gear it's for the gear to get a parse. SE doesn't do dedicated races for raids beyond ultimates anyway.

  4. I just want them to get rid of level sync and implement skill sync. It would make a lot of ppl enjoy older content more, since we don’t have to resort to older rotations or stop using the cool stuff.
It feels like all the work to level to 80 is useless when you go run old content, like something is pushing you back. Personally I avoid older content like the plague.

It’s what I hate the most about this game and I have been here since the very beginning, waiting for the moment I can just have fun with all my skills 🤷🏻‍♂️

Other games I play do this and I appreciate it a lot, it adds to the fun.

  5. would be nice if they made ANY gear fun. FFXI had gear with special job-specific or role-specific bonuses, WoW had that and trinkets. The only set bonuses in the game are trivial exp bonuses no one uses. Nothing but pure ilvl bumps and min/maxing secondary stats… Might as well get rid of gear completely and turn every piece of loot into glamour fodder. The lv .1 gear FFXI gives out for free just for logging in is more fun than anything you could ever earn in FFXIV….

Honestly, this could be forgivable if not for the all-out nerfing SE does on all content outside savage/endgame. If you go hard on gearing up, you get punished everywhere else like maps/dungeons/bozja with the steep ilvl caps + 100% elimination of materia bonuses…. Why has SE not at least fixed the materia thing? Why did SE make gearing in bozja the most boring thing in the world by putting such a low ilvl cap plus eliminate materia entirely + put materia slots on the gear you earn inside bozja?

  6. Also keep in mind it takes 7 weeks to get a tome weapon. Even without the tone cap, that's 7 weeks to get a weapon without savage. Uncapping tomes wouldn't be that big of a game breaker, really. Especially when alliance raids are also weekly lockout so it'll still take 11 more weeks to augment your tome gear.

  7. I think it would be cool if you have a job at cap, the leveling content that grants tomestones will also grant small amounts of the newest tomestones so leveling a new job helps gear max level jobs

  8. It is unfortunate that there isn't a more fun way to grind tomestones. I'm still disappointed with how few tomestones you get from Bozja. The last half of stormblood I used Eureka to cap almost exclusively and was looking forward to doing the same in Bozja. It is good that there are multiple ways you can do it though, first weeks of a patch when I'm gearing my main job I'll run roulettes to cap quicker and get gear then when I'm done with my main I'll start running hunt trains which are more efficient but may take longer into the week before capping. We still need a replayable version of max lvl POTD m+ style content. Could also have a system where you can trade normal mode raid gear for a discount on a tome piece, as this would also give a reason to keep doing the normal mode longer.

  9. Could you solve the weekly cap with potentially a logarithmic return for doing runs? So you first run or first few runs you get 50 tomes, then it gradually ramps all the way down to like 5 tomes or possibly even less per run. So there's no hard cap, and you're rewarded for playing more, but you'll have a personal point where you don't feel the time investment is worth it but at least it's your own decision rather than the system.

  10. Most people can't even play their main job remotely properly. Why would we want them to be even worse at multiple jobs from too much diversification and less practice on all of them?

  11. I don't go for the high end gear. I just craft the highest gear I can craft and play the game that way. I just happen to get some of the high-end gear because I play the raids.

I play with my main and 7 alts. I have 10 alts altogether but I mostly play with the 7 on the same server as my main. Each alt has a max level class and most crafters and gatherers max level. Between crafting and white script gear, my alts are taken care of. My main has almost all classes at 80 right now. I just craft the exarch gear or settle with the free lvl 80 430 gear.

I decided not to grind for crap that isn't worth it after a few months. Can you imagine getting full set of high-end gear and 45 days later, a new set is out with a new patch. Forget all that.

I agree with the post but, it has never slowed me down. I play within the parameters placed on me whether I like it or not.

  12. They should either half for second run through, or double cap limit. They could then triple the cap for third gear set, or 1/3 price on gear and lock it at that till next expansion drops. Reseting it again to 450.

  13. I love this game and to be honest as a new player I just found out about catch up gear. I think it’s a great idea since I know what to work towards in each expansion. Raids and dungeons are tons of fun to play! I also play GW2 and once you get end game gear that’s it, so what ppl mostly look for end game is just aesthetics.

  14. imagine this for a sec.. you buy an expansion and are actually able to fully gear every class before the next expansion if you put in the time.. time locking content will always make people mad. this game could take a few tips from guild wars 2. make gear irrelivent. could you imagine going through a whole expansion without trying to get gear? just playing the content for the content.. could keep gear in game just for a cosmetic aspect.

  15. The cap just makes me think that I'm paying for the armor, cause no matter what is going to take me 3 months to get a full set with the weapon so I'm paying 45$ to be able to get full set? Whatbif i want to grind it for a week? It's all about keeping you subbed longer

  16. Gearing in FFXIV is boring for sure. You always know what kind of gear is coming and when, there are zero surprises. Dungeon gear is completely useless. They need to shake it up, it's been stagnant for far too long. edit: potato grammar

  17. I think your stat caps should be tied to your Level and they should have hard caps. So like a lvl 80 tank would have a str cap of lets say 2000 at level 80 and putting anymore into it past 2000 wont do anything for you or have huge diminishing returns. Make sure that there is no way to be able to cap too many stats. That way they can just have all level 80 gear have around the same numbers just each set or new piece can have different stat combinations so you can more finely tun your characters stats to the way you want them instead of just chasing the one with the higher gear score and putting a few meteria in it to "customize" your stats. They could even add more stats like armor rating and stuff to make you want to go out plan out how you want to stat out your characters and chase the pieces you want for your build. Maybe have the gear you get from the hardest content have a small edge to encourage players to try and clear it. Just a thought. Gearing in this game is pretty unfulfilling. its like yay a new patch and now I have to get ilvl 240 gear to replace my 230 gear. whoopy…..

  18. All mmo games have endless grids for gear, least players get all the gear, finish everything, then drop subs. Grids are just part of all mmos. It’s their only way to not lose money on subs.
However if you play a game for too long each day, it will get old fast. You need to find other things to do besides just get gear.

  19. Remember what Yoshi P say, "its a casual game" they pretty much dont want you to spend 60 hours a week. Also if they take off the cap on tomes, you know what gone happen player Will just cap it in 2 or 3 days and get some top gear in 2 week and quite in less then 4 week. They want you to grind To stay sub. And big no to rng drop, wow lose me because of this stupid rng. I like how its in ff14 because you have the choice To pick up the piece you want. GL with GW2, game is pretty but did not get the fun i add in GW1.

  20. Meanwhile me who max leveled and geared crafters which just takes a day for me to craft a complete high end gear set. then get weapons from EX or capped tomes because the biggest jump in dps is the weapons.

  21. I think for tomes it could be cool to do it like WoW emissaries. Basically if you miss a week of tome capping, it would stack to a cap. So say you didn't play for 1 week, the next week you'd be able to farm out 900 tomes instead of 450.

  22. I'd like them to increase tomestone cap by 50 each week and cap out at 900/week. It'll make it much easier for people to catch up later in the tier as well.

But more importantly than that, I think they need to change the book requirements on some of the savage drops. The weapon/legs/chest book requirements should all be halved imo. And the mount should be made purchasable with 8 final fight books.

The game of luck in savage is much worse than the tomestone weekly cap.

They also REALLY need to remove the chest dings for having people in the party that have already cleared for the week. It's absolutely idiotic that we're punishing people for getting help?

I'd also like them to remove weekly requirements at the .1/.3/.5 patch. But I understand that they think it would devalue the alliance raid that comes out in that patch.

  23. It's really easy to see what ideas are being pushed in a lot of different channels' discussion videos/podcasts by looking at which comments the channels are interacting with. It really gives you an idea of why FFXIV as a whole has a relatively lackluster Youtube content creator representation. Most channels invest more time into what the game doesn't have as opposed to what it does have simply to fill airtime. Hell, Bellular and Asmongold have made wonderful careers off of doing that for WoW, a game that's spent the last 10 or so years fixing things until they break.

  24. Any PACING system should coincide with a CATCH-UP system where you don't get actual shortcuts to acquiring power (t.i. you have to spend the same time in total) but you are allowed to gather power more frequently as an expansion progresses. And that is as simple as enabling a stackable daily/weekly/monthly cap, with the max amount of currencies/tokens/what-have-you you can acquire/carry/spend increasing day by day, week by week, month after month. This would allow for all players to play WHEN they want/can while guaranteeing that all players will need to put the SAME effort in the process, until content is relevant and as long as a player is subbed.

  25. I honestly don't care if it goes up or becomes uncapped, if we go up I'd like it to maybe be a monthly cap where it's X times Y,
So maybe you can only get 450 a week but in a 4 week period you should have a cap of 1,800. To the person who hit 450 instead of getting to the reset it'll let them know you're hitting week 2 and so on. With it being this way the person who goes hard can be rewarded sooner, but they'll hit the unavoidable forced break period. So this can be excellent to those who also play 6 months a year by alternating months, it would give them potential 8 weeks of tomes if they can patiently hit the weekly cap 4 times and go berserk in the last few days. Apply this to other things as well.

  26. An easy solution to this is something that ESO kind of soft implements as far as alts go. If you have played through the tutorial, then you have the option to skip it outright on your second character. I think alts should be able to skip MSQ if they want to and not be locked out of key features, but only after they have completed that story on one of their characters. They could probably implement this through achievement tracking by using those as the flags to allow accounts to skip.
