  1. A quick update by everyone's favourite poet of elegant divinity. (You think I will run out of these? I make them up for my FC members and I have far more of them than you will have playthrough videos – even if you make them all this short!)

  2. Oh worst stopping point ever lol

If you watch back the beginning of the post-Ktisis cutscene, when Meteion is describing the dead stars, each one cuts to a different one of our ancient buddies and describes a doom that kind of hits them where they live, personality wise.

To the lonely Hermes when she talks of the lack of interpersonal relationship causing society to collapse
To Emet when she describes the powerful society conquered and unable to restore itself
To Hythlodaeus, of the fine and clear vision, when confirming that nothing is infinite and the future isn't worth looking toward
And to Venat, describing the society that lost its will to live without sorrows to endure and overcome

I have to think that's intentional and its one of the more subtle geniuses of this cutscene. Meteion's report is a wellspring of despair, and they actually show us how that lands individually on all present.

EDIT: I have always found it poignant that Hermes' new memory for himself to cover his "determination" was one in which he was even more lonely and sorrowful, one in which he believed his beloved birb-children had died and it was basically his fault for how he had created them. That's like a hesitation wound in a way for the deep cut he was making in mankind.

EDIT EDIT: Emet is dad. The Zodiark-Hydaelyn distinction is kind of misleading. The real contest for the proper care, feeding, and upbringing of the star was between Mom Venat and Dad Hades

EDIT EDIT EDIT: How cool was it when Emet showed up to save us from Elidibus and you and Y'shtola really couldn't even guess why he would have done it?

  3. Its so fascinating to go from this moment in Elpis (Meteion's report being that her sisters only found tragedy and despair) to later when we learn about the truth of why the Meteia only found worlds that wanted to accept oblivion so readily.

  4. I didn't catch Venat's text before the dungeon the first time: "My own refusal to return is in opposition to the world's established order." That's super interesting and makes her actions as Hydaelyn make even more sense.

  5. I think there are probably other worlds out there that didn’t collapse, because I dont believe they visited every world in the universe that had civilization on it tbh.

That said, I don’t think the sample size meteion got would’ve changed anything because they are incapable of answering Hermes question themselves

  6. 1:10:00 Despair is addictive and it can be easier to decide there is no reason to try to overcome sadness and despair. I think once Meteion was tinged with despair it just kept growing until she only found despair because she herself was causing it. I still feel for Hermes though— he lived in a world that couldn't understand him and offered him no hope.

  7. I wouldn't call Hermes skewed. He's the most human Ancient. Other ancients truly didn't care for other life. Hermes is the only one who cares for their creations & being other than Ancients! Imagine in such a world, where no one can understand you or your suffering, even if you talk to them. Of course he ended up the way he did. He was the most kind of them. Also, Hyth said that once they die, these memories will return to them. Remember when Emet helped you in 5.3, after his death in 5.0? Well, now you know why.
This is the worst stopping point! I really hope you played the next part right after this.
