  1. Love the enhanced sustainability. Being able to use Clemency to heal teammates while healing yourself via damage spells and defensive buffs. I still hope Paladins one day get an Resurrection spell or at least an AOE heal.

  2. I can't tell if Happy intentionally mispronounces Confiteor as a joke, or if no one corrected him. I'm guessing it's a joke at this point since I've heard it in multiple videos now heh. Maybe something from his stream.

  3. They appear to have made Divine Veil actually apply to the Paladin as well. Currently when the Paladin is healed it only provides a barrier to other party members excluding the Paladin.

Previous wording "Effect ends upon additional HP recovery via healing magic."
New Wording " Effect ends upon casting barrier on self and nearby party members"

  4. You were wondering about the new spell combo's effect on rotation. Just as an immediate thought, it really makes FoF first openers seem like the way to go and Requiescat first openers (which were only used in specific fights, but were great in those) not sound too good. Depending on fight duration, we may still be able to use the pre-fight FoF Req-first opener, but the standard one? Not really gonna work.

  5. As a current pally secondary who is leveling will pally in the xpac for lore reasons, the blade combo scare me. Current best DPS on the dummy is to do a fight or flight rotation (with 2 goring blades), followed by the resquiescat rotation, followed by an unbuffed physical rotation, leaving 1 unbuffed goring blade in between resquiescat and the next fight or flight. This was massively buffed in this xpac, as now blade of valor will easily and brilliantly replace the unbuffed goring blade. This definitely makes me happy most of the time,

    But…

The thing is, this is the optimal opener. The less optimal opener is only a little bit worse, and because resquiescat is usable entirely at range sometimes fight timings means that starting with resquiescat is waaaaaaay better, and it isn't even close. Blade of valor seems to be unaspected damage, and therefore unaffected by fight or flight. Making this significantly less good, and removing some interesting choice in pally rotations.

And, to make things worse, this also is a problem if timings or simple mistakes makes it so you have to change your rotation mid fight. Pally is fairly forgiving because if you fuck up (or the boss jumps) and you drift, thats fine, just swap around the resquiescat and fight or flight rotations and its cool. Notably, we kind of have to do this for E11S right now, as the first intermission phase happens in the middle of a partial Fight or Flight, and when he comes back, fight or flight isnt back, but it will be by the end of the next resquiescat rotation.

So yeah, I'm a bit worried. Anyone have more info that can assuage my fears? for example, is blade of valors dot physical damage, or can you hold the next blade combo for just under 60 seconds?

  6. I play paladin most of the time when I want to tank, but I don't main it. The way I do paladin is:

Melee dot combo with FoF activated before the dot -> royal authority combo -> sword oath -> dot combo once more -> Requiescat (FoF falls off) -> Magic combo -> melee dot combo -> royal authority combo -> sword oath -> repeat from beginning

I'm not sure if the way I do things is optimal, I just naturally found myself doing it this way and it feels right, so the way this confiteor combo works fits perfectly into my style since it applies a buffed dot in place of my usual lame unbuffed dot outside of the FoF window.

Basically, these paladin changes are pretty ideal for me!

  7. The 3 new sword AOE attacks seem like they'll just replace the first Goring of your 123,124,123,124,123 phase, so that first 123 is just 7 (Confetior), 777 instead, and rolls right into that Royal Authority 124. The optimal time for Fight or Flight will be to catch the two Goring on the end. Right now, you can use FoF for either the first and second Goring (first and third combo) OR the second and third Goring (third and fifth combo), but it looks like you'll want to exclusively use it with the third and fifth combo now.

Current Divine Veil doesn't put the shield on the PLD. I wonder if they're changing that. "all party members" in 15y seems like it WOULD include the PLD, but…hard to say. It does say "upon casting barrier on self AND nearby party members", so that sounds like a nice little buff since it doesn't affect SELF right now. I could see "target's HP" here being you either can target one person (or yourself) OR it could mean everyone that gets the barrier also gets a heal. The first could be used to save a party member or to add to the PLD's sustain, the second…well, does both. 😀

This overall looks like a pretty good set of overall changes. The two issues are, as you noted for one, that spells still interrupt combos, and the other is that the Job still has a LOT of button bloat. They could have merged Shelltron and Intervention to be context dependent (e.g. are you targeting a party member or not), or done some work with the 123/124 combos, or…I dunno, SOMETHING. At least none of the new abilities add any additional buttons. Or…DID they? I only count 28 or so buttons on your bar there. I thought PLD had more than that right now. Hm…….
