  1. I did try to run savage back when Eden S came out, for a week I tried progging it with PUG. Never have we made it past phase 3, rarely did we reach it. Because even when groups were tagged as "training", there were always people leaving after 2 or 3 tries after the group had spent 2h forming. And when one left, half the group did too, and so we were stuck waiting again. Unable to do anything but FATEs. This was absolutely terrible and frustrating.

In contrast, by the end of Stormblood I decided to run all the Alexander Savage content to get glamour stuff for gunbreaker ready, we did it unsynched so it was much easier of course. Being level 70 on a level 60 raid. But the experience was much better, everyone was chill. Dedicated even. All were patients and most of the group stayed together for a few days as we farmed those fights together by the skin of our teeth.

  2. OK I know were talking about try harding in FFXIV (Which I think trying hard in any game is great as long as the environment dosent conflict with it) but can we talk about how absolutely fricken amazing zepla looks in that sweater with her headphones?!?! She looks so cool!!!

Also zepla hope you see this, Love your content

  3. I intended to do Savage raiding this expansion, but, alas, being stuck with 60+ hour work weeks for the entirety of 6.0 and still dealing with 50+ hour work weeks for 6.1, I just don't have time to commit to memorizing everything. Last expansion, without doing parsing on my own, I know I did REALLY well on DPS on all the Extremes, I know I can do more, and I'd love to. But alas, time is a finite resource, so I tend to throw that skill at PotD/HoH because of the random nature of them, as well as the lack of regular time commitment to doing them; I've made it to floor 141 solo on PotD and am currently working on a solo HoH run, and it's a blast. I personally can't wait for a new Deep Dungeon.

  4. I won't even do extremes of current expansion. I start usually doing them unsynched one expansion ahead with a few extra levels. Some are still a little rough. Even tsukoyomi is pretty tough at 90

  5. Been playing since 2013, I've just never heard of anyone having a good time doing it. All I've ever heard were complaints about other players, complaints about damage, complaints about progression, complaints about mistakes, complaints about statics, complaints about gear and food and potions… I've heard of people who are happy once they clear, but it doesn't seem like the process is fun at all.

  6. Hey I know you are trying not to think about it, and I am the last person who should be asking for your help since I was banned from your Discord for getting in some keyboard warriors asses about the war in Ukraine. But a good friend of mine Just died Fighting there. Would you mind sharing his Go fund me for his family. His Name was Will. He was a good god damn marine and a fucking out standing friend. If you need a like I can get you one. I just don’t know how to message on Discord. Again I don’t care what your community thinks of me. I just want to help Will’s family.

  7. Imo I think that harder content just breeds toxicity and people telling you how you should play your class or people yelling at you for missing up and wiping the party. I don't think it's a kinda environment I want to be in.

  8. i can personally tell you EX savage is not at all hard. Do the simple mechanics do your rotation and win. Then sell clears for large stacks of cash to unskilled players. Remember if you are not first you are last! Just dont be a RP furry.

  9. I started playing FFXIV a bit before Endwalker came out tried out to different raid statics, cleared Eden s9 and s10 and pandemonium s1 and s2 plus a bunch of extremes, it was amazing, the problem is always the statics fell apart, every time for some reason we end up not raiding anymore.

I've been jumping from game to game to try and raid with a static and try to clear everything possible but it just impossible I just gave up and unsub cause always having to try to find a group to raid that last will never happen.

I'd wish I could find one group and clear everything because raiding is all I care about playing a MMO.

  10. I'm kind of middle ground on this because largely, I do predominantly do duo unsyncs with my partner and I am incredibly anxious about finding a party for any duty really. Especially because my schedule and timezone mean it's hard to commit to a consistent raid schedule with a static. But also I think duo unsync clearing Sephirot EX without a tank was probably one of the most thrilling moments of gameplay I've had, after many, many hours of learning the mechs + abilities + timing for it and having it finally work. The fact that I got a cool bird mount in my favourite colour out of it didn't hurt either. I don't foresee ultimates and savages in my near future, but I'll be damned if the whole thing isn't incredibly tempting to pursue at some point.

  11. came from asmonds video review, just wanted to say I just got into savage raiding recently (quit ff dec 2019 just came back) and it’s amazing! so much fun, honestly just watching guides and then seeing the mechanics in person help so much. you’re absolutely right, i came back a month and a half ago and didn’t even know rotations or how to play the jobs. I didn’t even remember what my moves did lol, so you can definitely learn if you put in the work

  12. I feel like all the points in this video are fair and valid but it doesn’t really dispell the largest barrier for me (and I imagine for some others as well): the timesink. I work full-time and log-in to ffxiv to wind down after, I don’t want to turn my escapism into a second job with hours of scheduled raid time. That investment is a huge hurdle imo.

  13. LOL – I started playing Jan 25 (like this year) when the game opened up for new subs. I'm constantly improving because when you're new, the learning curve is pretty steep! As an older player, I'm open to doing pretty much anything, but I've done raiding in other games (LOTRO, SWTOR, etc) for years and I'm just enjoying learning the game right now. I'm okay with this, too! I'm just glad that FF has so many different versions of end game – I'm never bored and there's always something to do in this game. Maybe, some day, sure, but for now, I'm happy with where I am and where I'm going.

  14. I tried to do cobu and due to the high amount of pressure, I forgot to turn on tank stance, and then I got yelled at by like 3 people and ever since ive never attempted it again

  15. The worst thing is to not even try. I used to be beyond anxious about the prospect of doing on-tier EXs, being the shitter causing wipe after wipe because I'm having issues with a given mechanic. You gotta accept that you will cause wipes, but you aren't the only one that will cause wipes. Your party will also make mistakes and cause wipes unless you queue up with a premade of 7 god gamers. I only got into EX because some friends kept trying to get me into it, they helped me with a "blind" clear of EW EX1 and two of EW EX2 where they just kinda picked me up for it with callouts despite the fact that I hadn't even looked into a guide. Later they got me to try EX3 a week after it launched, got a clear, followed by "let's do P1S. 15 minutes. In and out. We'll do it by callouts." and somehow managed to clear within an hour. If an anxious AF player that struggles with harder content can do it, you probably can too.

  16. I'm always on and off from Savage content. I don't have a lot of time for static commitment, and PF is super hit or miss. Sometimes I would rather just do my roulettes and increase my other classes.

  17. I am someone who has delayed processing disorder. I NEED to see it a few times to learn it. Once I do learn it I am very good. People have often been surprised by what I can do and how much I actually do improve. The problem? Most humans do not have the patience to let me learn the way I do.

  18. Oddly enough, I am a thrill seeker. I love playing hard games and learning. But, my main problem with getting into hard stuff in ffxiv is the gearing and food and stuff I hear is necessary in higher end stuff. Just sounds really annoying to me.

  19. Ppl who keep staying low bcs they don't have a static, won't ever get one.
Good grps don't take ppl who don't play the game.
It's toxic to be a casual fuck who wants carries and has no interest in improvement and holds 7 people back.
If you want to check harder content, just know your rotation and prep a bit gear, then good to go.

But with the attitude of, I'm not good enough, or I don't want to learn it right, it's 'practice', just stay away and stop wasting other ppls time, who actually prepared themselves.
Narcissistic ppl are the worst in this game, you have to play with me, doesn't matter how bad I am.
Uuuuuh no, you are toxic person, planning on not bringing the same weight to the table like the others and I kick you for that xD
Especially when it's asked in pf and ppl still suck.
Little rant here I know, but better here than ingame xD
It's still possible to kick ppl like that without a report. Just don't let anyone hold you back

  20. While I agree to your whole happy brain argument, it does require a certain kind of person who is willing to put in the time and energy and grind required. I have found myself loving savage raiding in my own silly static and it's so rewarding to finally clear a fight we've been progging for weeks, but as I've been talking to my other friends who don't play FFXIV (either anymore or never did), I find that they are looking for that "instant gratification" of a quick Rocket League match or Fortnite match or whatever else. The games that just chuck you into a 5-15 minute game that you can pick up, play quickly, and then be off to something else. So they just aren't looking for a game like FFXIV anymore because the base game itself is a big time commitment and raiding is certainly a long delay to that final gratification of clearing a fight.
