  1. If you work out the probabilities, the chance of getting 3 unique seals in 3 consecutive plays (even accounting for redraws and the fact that redraw prevents you from getting the same card) is just 56%. Which means almost half the time you won't be able to get the 5% damage buff unless you hold off on using Astrodyne, but I doubt that will be worth it. Unless they add in more RNG mitigation or change the buff so that there's no damage tied to three unique seals, it's gonna feel pretty bad man.

  2. There's absolutely no reason that Draw/Play and Minor Arcana/Crown Play need to be separate buttons. It does not prevent those skills from going on cooldown in the background, because there are already skills in the game that work like that. Namely Geirskogul/Nastrond. Nastrond takes over the Geirskogul button during Life of the Dragon, but Geirskogul keeps invisibly ticking down in the background. Consider the amount of button bloat AST has in its kit, the only possible reason I can think they did it like this is either because it lets you track the cooldown while holding a card, or because it's just a straight up oversight.

  3. Stacking Redraw charges if you don't need them would be awesome, pretty much my only complaint, the new abilities look great. It's cool to not be dreading an Astro rework for once.

  4. so… did i count correctly? AST has 9 oGCD heal opportunities now? (10 if you count Lady). So….. i guess ill never have to gcd heal anymore. Sorry SCH, i think AST just took the ogcd healer crown…

Edit: Recounted SCH. You have a theoretical 12 oGCD heals on SCH. Some contradict each other, like the fey skills not being usable during dissipation, but with planing you have them at your disposal. So… let me just hand back that crown real quick ^^"

  5. Given the tentative minor arcana, they could add the play button on top of the draw minor arcana itself to eliminate button bloat. I assume they can let it’s cool down to run in the background like our earthly star. They can mark it highlight to let player knows they can used it. Either way, I hope they can eliminate the bloat. After all, players who knows to play card will play it in the right time and wouldn’t let it over cap.

  6. Macrocosmos seems incredible in both visuals and effect, but man, the cards. :S I'm perpetually salty about this, but really now; we have two draws and two plays for extra bloat, the damage nuke card is a 50/50 chance on a 1 minute CD, cards are just as boring, while giving an equally as boring Seal buff. The Seal buff should have just been the damage nuke if this is the direction they were going to cut down on the bloat.

And to top it all off, Monks gained a more interesting version of the Seal mechanic, without the RNG, and because Square has no idea what to do with cards or how to make them interesting, they just gave AST "Brotherhood."

Seeing AST just makes me angry now. 😐 I should be level headed, but I just can't. Please square, turn our 6 cards into a deck like an actually deck tabletop game, the games that have been designed around drawing cards, so you can keep some fun RNG while making it deterministic, on top of being able to make the cards unique without damage loss due to that RNG.

Seriously, how is never getting the right redraws on seals and losing your 5% damage buff, on top of only drawing Lady of Crowns for an entire fight all that different from being pissed that you weren't drawing balance back in the day? Square needs to desperately play some Tabletop deck games to see why and how decks are used. I should just avoid looking at AST stuff. lol I'm just so mad, why do I do this to myself?

  7. Astrodyne is pretty underwhelming imo, not only is it a self buff for whatever reason it really doesn't change anything from the seals being on Divination. Either way you need to get 3 seals on a specific time frame, they could just as easily have made Astrodyne be a cooldown and left the seals on Divination and t would be functionally the same. The only real difference is it's less impactful if you screw up.

  8. I'm at the same time worried about dealing with bad seal RNG but at least a little relieved that at least only my own damage would suffer from a bad Astrodyne. Already miss Sleeve Draw and I don't even have it in game yet.

  9. Well here's the main issue with the changes to Major Arcana – you now have no way to dump unwanted cards. In ShB if you have no redraws and got a duplicate seal you can just major arcana that card instead. So with removal of Sleeve Draw and no way to dump unwanted seals, AND a single redraw per draw your own Astrodynes are probably going to be more crap than amazing. That's not to say that a bad Astrodyne is heavily influential, but the main reward system is no longer there ala Divination.

  10. New/old lady and lord are ok but they just made the card system really really bad. You used minor arcana to get rid of cards you didn't need the seals for. You can't do that now, your basically fucked if you get bad RNG.

  11. That second charge is actually huge for QoL. Astro used to have a 30 second countdown on their opener because they wanted 3 cards for divination. Now you'll always have the double draw in the opener without waiting for ages.

  12. I fucking LOVE healing as an astro in dungeons. Their that allow you to time your heals just feels so good. Not loving the loss of sleeve draw, but I suppose it is what it is.

  13. The lack of sleeve draw + lack of redraw is going to be interesting. I very rarely ever had to deal with not 3 unique signs, and I feel that may change. PLUS I really liked sleeve draw's animation. The rest seems really cool, though.

  14. Another video on astro i saw mentioned getting the Lady many times in a row, might be a bug in the rng. I know it's a 50% so runs of a single get aren't that uncommon but might need some investigation to confirm one way or the other

  15. AST's biggest flaw is the FF14 endgame-communities focus on "but muh dps parse". Those don't want fun mechanics that fit the fate-and-fortune aspect of the AST identity, they want most optimal potency per second, and everything below that is considered trash that should be changed. It prevents SE from making "not optimal but so much more original and fun" skill mechanics, like the original old card effects. They might as well remove the entire card system and just make it yet another copy-paste "+X% dmg every YY seconds" buff, like they already did with Divination.

  16. I can't help but be a BIT upset at losing Nocturnal Sect. I may not play Astro as much after Shadowbringers, but I always really liked the card system AND the flexibility of being able to be a regen or shield healer as needed. Especially for raids so you can match up fine regardless of what healer you find yourself paired with.

  17. Not a fan of the "personal buff" card changes. Feels like the identity of the job is extremely different given that your only real party damage buff is div. Not too special any more given that SCH has CS. Everything else looks great but just not a fan or the cards.

  18. So they put the RNG back into the RNG Healer to a certain degree? I welcome that. Seriously AST was a big disappointment in ShB to me. I will definitely give it a look once EW goes live. And I still want a gambler class for this FF14. xD

  19. Maybe I’m crazy- the more I think about it the less I’m worried about the card seals. If I recall, the whole point of the opener was to get 3 seals to give the party the buff right? Now that it’s granted right away with lord of crowns- the 3 seal buff being only us doesn’t worry me. The most recent and spell casting are good but i am not terribly worried about absolutely needing to regen my no or the other buffs right at the start of battle. Astor damage is already pebbles compared to WHM so losing my DPS here and there feels negligible at times.

The only issue feels like the LoC Is more rare than it should be. It should be 50/50 for the draw. You either get it or you don’t. From what I’m hearing many people had a 1/10 Chance of drawing it which is not good. But that’s one of those issues ther seems it’ll absolutely get fixed.
