In this video, I continue my walk with you through all of the weaponskills and abilities of the Dragoon, continuing from Level 50 onward to level 90. Time is taken to look at how every weaponskill and ability along the way is best used, including detailing Openers and general attack rotations whenever significant changes are introduced!
Dragoon moreso than any other job I have seen, is extremely dependent on the opener going right, since it sets the stage for all subsequent cooldown usage, so while it feels like I might be going over the opener a bit too much — repeatedly taking it from the top whenever something is added, it is because it is super important! 🙂
The Summary includes an attack opener, the standard rotation, general tips including AoE rotation, as well as a brief talk about stat priorities.
If you find some things are going a bit fast or a bit slow, I invite you to speed up, or slow down or even pause the video for your convenience! I will admit there are some parts of the video that have relatively large blocks of text that not everyone will be able to read while also listening, before I move on to the next subject.

Another excellent guide, thank you! I'm finding (at level 70) that the most challenging part of playing DRG is trying to pick up the pieces after I make a mistake; in cases where I mess up and die, or miss a Mirage Dive or mix up the order with Geirskogul because I was distracted by fight mechanics, or sometimes the boss goes out of reach halfway through my buff window and I wasn't anticipating it so half my cooldowns get offset. Obviously with practice that should happen less often, and I've been just queueing the level 70 raids lately to get comfortable with DRG after playing so much RDM and I'm improving a lot at being consistent, but trying to get things roughly aligned again after a mishap (or just accepting my CDs will be out of sync for the rest of the battle) can feel pretty rough.
One question which I don't think you've mentioned (or if you did I missed it): Should I be late-weaving Battle Littany, since it's not being double-weaved? I'd assumed as much, but it wouldn't be the first time I'd assume wrong haha!
Really enjoy checking out these 50-90 guides for my various jobs! Thanks for all your work on them!
Dragoon Changes in 6.2:
Jump and High Jump now no longer gets replaced by Mirage Dive when you are Mirage Dive Ready, removing this change that was implemented in 6.1.
Dragoon Changes in 6.1:
1) All your jumps (Except for Stardiver) had their animation times shortened. It has now been discovered that it IS possible to doubleweave jumps, which of course allows you to compress the opener (and the burst sequences) much more!
2) REMOVED IN 6.2: Jump and High Jump are now automatically replaced by Mirage Dive when you are Mirage Dive Ready.
I'm currently a lvl 61 dragoon so i'm using the level 60 opener you suggest. But one question, why are the OGCD's in that order?
Why is geirskogul the first ogcd attack? Why use Dragonfire Dive later? is it because the recast timers line up?
a simple rotation per level bracket would be helpful
Great guide! What would be the best hotbar setup for this guide for a controller?
