So couple things I need to correct or add. First Neverland is an exceptionally good static, but I was actually mixing them up with the team they dethrone during Dragonsong thoughts per second. Second Unnamed has released a statement commenting on the event, and there are couple of translations around. I think is best people judge the response themselves rather than trust a summery.
Now for a bonus question:
Should each member of competing teams have to record/stream their runs for them to count?

Yoshi-p has responded and bans will be happening.
A chat log has been shown with a GM apparently revealing that they will also be stripped of the achievement and weapons. If true this pretty big, as this isn't something I believe has been done before.
Not banning them sets the precedent that people can get away with this in the future. Both the devs and the community have made it abundantly clear – though it's typical in other MMOs, add-ons (to this degree and in a raiding environment) are not a part of FFXIV's culture.
