I'm looking forward to DawnTrail being a fun new adventure with new characters, high-enough stakes to keep my interest, and a plot that hopefully isn't as soul-crushing as Shadowbringers and Endwalker's darkest moments were
So do you think people compare this expansion to wows new one? Seeing as this is a new saga just like wow coming up with?
The game realllllllllyyyy needs an engine update.
Im hoping for a combat rework or some sort of change. The lack of horizontal progression plus designing jobs exclusively around boss fights instead of designing jobs based on identity is really killing my enjoyment outside of the story.
When it comes to concerns pertaining to Dawntrail, the MSQ makes up a very small portion of it. There is no question that the majority of the playerbase will burn through the initial MSQ within the first week of release, and the slower goers will take 2-3 weeks to get through it. It's understandable that FFXIV is still a FF game, and the story is important, but it is also P2P and the story itself is not enough to keep players busy.
The plaguing question on my mind and many others is are the glaring issues the game currently has going to be addressed? Particularly when it comes to combat/job design, and the replay factor of the filler content. There are serious issues with healers, tanks, DPS homogenization, and the fact that they shat out content like Island Sanctuary, Relics, and Variant Dungeons. Ilv creep causing duties to end too soon making new players miss out on the initial experience, among other things. This is the stuff that is going to take up the majority of the time between patches. What are they going to do about it?
If the answer is nothing, there's going to be some serious problems come DT.
Well, it's obvious to anyone that it's not going to be a "beach episode", but it is a new beginning. Things need to ramp up again.
We didn't go from ARR and Gaius to suddenly defeating Zodiark and the Endsinger.
They literally set up conflict with some hidden Neo-Allagans up in the north section of the New World that are comparable and a direct reference to the Zilart in FF11, right? At least what I got from it, everything's a reference to some of the most pivotal early lore from FF11, so if anything it feels like Yoshida's trying to pull 11 players over with Dawntrail with some of the best homages he can pull off in 14
I don't know who would think any expansion arc wouldn't have some heavy plot attached; Shadowbringers literally took people to another world and is revered lol
you say come back, I say still have ques to log in. and limsa is always packed. but yeah im seeing a new land mass starting to open with this one
I just can't come back to 14 for any long period of time because of how unacceptable the gameplay feels in 2024. Played the game since 1.0 (preorded the special edition) and it just feels so bad
I'm convinced Dawntrail will be like A Realm Reborn 2. It'll have it's own base story, but will primarily be setting us up for the next multi-expansion story arc.
I normally skip around through most poeple's videos just to get the info, but I've always enjoyed your vibe in videos (both your FF content and your WoW content) and find myself watching through. You seem like a really down to Earth guy. glad to see you still grinding and succeeding, Quazii! Also, you do a good job of giving nuance and detail without it feeling like you're dragging the video on. Out of curiosity, how much of your videos do you script and how much do you just use bullet points and then free form it?
Ok, lets be honest. FF16 was bad. The story was meh, the battle system was generic and all flash. Not a final fantasy game for sure.
WB Quazii,
Wanna talk about what you do you think of EW expansion ? For me think SE is lazy.
Unless they're putting some effort into restoring some depth to the Job Design, I'm out.
They've been shallow "role glamours" for the last 5 years , and I can't stand it anymore.
Prove all of us wrong? Man i expect it to be good.
I think Endwalker was simultaneously pretty good, while also being a letdown after how great I thought Shadowbringers was. Expecting something to be a non stop rollercoaster of greatness is somewhat unreasonable in retrospect. At some point the ride needs to slow down and climb up to it's next peak. I just hope the next payoff is anywhere near as great as the last one, but either way I'm along for the ride.
Stardew valley is one of my fav indie games of all time. IS was so anti stardew valley. They couldn't have missed the heart and soul of stardew more it was some factory industrial revolution jo ja mart shit that you try and escape in stardew.
Oh hell yeah, it's pretty obvious, that they're lying that we're going to a vacation 😄
As long as yoshi p doesnt join the chorus of making the game for a "broader audience" and in the progress making the invididual joys bland and boring. I'll be happy.
I been saying this for ages….trust the devs. yoship was distracted with other projects ofc it will hurt ffxiv. when people started crying "the game is going downhill!!!!" I couldn't stop rolling my eyes. this community never learns do they? the devs always deliver.
Hopefully, we will get Solution 9 outdoor/indoor furniture 😆
Just because the biggest bads we've faced are gone, that doesn't mean we can never face a greater challenge than them. From the very beginning we've been shown that world ending threats can rise from pretty much anywhere. The sky's the limit with Primals. Any one of them can become a world ender if their following grows enough. Creations can far surpass the power and intentions of their creators as with the Endsinger. Our own characters have grown from humble beginnings to facing off against gods. There's no reason others can't do the same and choose to target the WoL.
im excited for DT i enjoyed the ascion story line and EW was a good ending for that and what i really liked was that the wasnt any lingering parts to EW once did the final fight thats it with post EW being a short story with some extra characters. the new story we are gonna get that isnt about the world/universe ending so can make enemies more enjoyable and give them more of a unique feel with their own motives and goals.
We started as an adventurer, and ended up literally traveling worlds, different realms, dying, coming back, killing numerous gods, defeating an immortal race, etc.
After the ending to current storyline, it's kinda hard to just immediately live up to that now.
So I feel like this is gonna bring us back to the older style. It's just a new adventure. I feel like it'll be more focused and down to earth. Kinda like arr and heavensward.
After killing the literal gods of the world and realm, and averting the apocalypse for like the 10th time, what do you do?
Gotta start somewhere lol.
I'm worried about how character progression is gonna go. With classes now coming in so close to the caps, the sense of progression is just kinda gone. I'm wondering if we might not actually be building up to the next MMO tbh.
I think I’ve played FFXIV long enough to predict that Dawn Trail will cause the same issues as the other previous expansions. Mass returns of players who took a break. Many people have their reasons for not currently playing. We all know someone who says.. they’re taking a break. Being burnt out. There’s no content. Nothing for them to do. Playing other games at the moment. I saw the same reasons post-Shadowbringers. Only to see massive waiting queues once Endwalker was released. So, I’m in the opinion that FFXIV is doing just fine at the moment. Hell, there’s still a queue to log in my world everyday.
At this point, it's not too farfetched to think the new expansion is not what it appears to be. Back in Shadowbringer launch, Yoshi P downplayed the expansion to be a comprobable experience to other singleplayer RPG. But in reality, it far exceeded a lot of people's expectations when it came to the storytelling. Some even claiming it's the best they experienced. I've heard that the writers of Sorrow of Werlyt was involved in the new expansion. If true, we have something significant here.
Even before Solution 9's reveal, I was expecting something to happen in the story that throws everything off… now that we know of Solution 9, and the fact that they were hiding a lot of things when they showed us what it looked like in game… makes me wonder just what that area implies, and what are they hiding…
I have a theory about why it's Solution 9.
solution 1-7 were the cataclysms.
Solution 8 was the 1st.
So Solution 9 is the 9th Ascian attempted way to address the problem, the rejoining. We'll have to wait and see.
After seeing Solution 9 I honestly don’t know what to think about DT
So its not going to be an Expansion?
