  1. I’m proud my boy Bakool Ja Ja is so high up. DT Main QuestI felt missed with the story due to focusing WAY to hard on Wuklamat and not letting others have moments/interactions (I still like her as a character). but at least the Arcadia has fulfilled the dream of the WOL in the ring which I didn’t know I needed

  2. I don't mind the story of DT and think it's pretty decent. The thing I can't stand and what really annoyed me with the DT MSQ is that literally EVERYTHING has a cutscene and it makes the pacing of the MSQ feel awful. Every single quest feels like 20 min of cutscene, every single time you interact with anything you get that fade to black for an unvoiced cutscene and it feels frustrating. There's a decent story to be told with an awful "gameplay" loop while you're going through it.

  3. Fact that Wuk Lamat is not even in the top ten and some less important characters are above her is just *chef's kiss*. Hopefully they take very deep note of that and just sort of ax Wuk Lamat away for the future.

  4. Sphene being 5th place tells me the list is trash.
She was utterly boring and her motivations while relatable were just executed horrible.
She was cute/sexy but she is not only the worst ff14 main story villian but perhaps even the worst in all of Final Fantasy.
Same with Erenvile he probably got a lot of horni votes because lets be honest besides the occasional cool moments he is mostly just grumpy in the background (he was still good but not krile levels of good)

  5. Honestly krile was done so dirty in this expansion, iirc we were told she was going to play a big role in it but she was relegated to the back ground 95% of the time and the one time she had the spotlight to be something only she could do, it got denied and had to be overtaken by gulool ja…

  6. I am no doubt in the minority here, but I don't get the absolute adoration Erenville gets. I like him, but not on the level most people seem to. Krile deserved more screen time. /clenchfist

  7. Characters will grow and develop. I remember how people hated certain characters in ARR but later loved them in the expansions. I can see this list changing after the next few major story updates.

  8. If it was up to me, I would have joined Koana's group with my boys Thancred and Urianger. Plus, Koana actually learned something about himself. He had depth. I was rooting for him. I didn't even care about Wuk Lamat one bit.

Bakool Ja Ja actually had a character arc too, so he was interesting to me, but personally, Otis was my fav even though he was a flat character. Disappointed there wasn't more Otis. Something tells me we'll see an homage to Beatrix though, seeing as Sphene (Garnet + Brahn) and Otis (obvious Stiener) were clear homages.

Hilarious that Honey B. Lovely is rated higher than Wuk Lamat.

  9. I feel as though Wuk Lamat's story should have ended halfway through, and that's where Krile's story should have really shot off (I also am a Krile fan Quazii). I also feel bad for Krile that her own arc was so rushed and she was sort of "pushed aside" when going to the last zone, I think she was done dirty in that moment by the writers. If I had to pick only 1 out of that list it would be Krile.

  10. Personally, I feel neutral about Wuk Lamut but I prefer NOT to travel or interactive with her that much. She's 1 dimensional character with a bad character development. I know it's only 1 expansion but look back at Elpis in Endwalker. With only 1 map I can feel the bonds I forge with Hermes and Hythlodaeus. This cat woman can't even forge a bond or make me feel her compassion in the entire 7.0 MSQ (I even like Wuk Evu more than her.)

  11. I hope this shows CBU3 that they need to give Wuk Lamat the Lyse treatment and relegate her to cameo roles only going forward. We need more Erenville and Krile. Lots more. I hope those two get the focus in the 7.x patch series.

  12. kinda hated Bakool Ja Ja, he felt like a pseudo villain made to start shit but with zero consequences.

Kidnaps the king's daughter to steal her gems, she gets them back anyways. Frees a deathly ancient legendary beast, the heroes kill it before it does major harm. Kidnaps yet again but this time the biological father of king's daugther, she kicks his ass and gets her gems back like I said.

Then after all terrible shit he's done, they writers try to make it that he's actually a good guy, saves a kid during invasion of the city and new queen makes her former kidnapper, the captain of kingsguard, nobody hates him at all from his wrongdoings. Literally any other work of fiction, he would be banished, imprisoned or executed but nah none of that, gets off scot-free, makes zero sense to me.

  13. I am so happy to see my favourite DT character here, Wuk Evu.

But I am also glad that my fellow players have great taste, and put Honey B. Lovely at #9, therefore I look forward to seeing Honey as a major character in every story going forward.

  14. Sphene is worse than wuk lamat. Discount emet with a part of meteion.

And she has nothing to do with ff9. She is ashe from ff12, even her design. All ff9 things fell flat.

The full dawntrail story is: we have it better at home! Everything is a boring copy of better times.

  15. I couldn't agree with your last point any more. Unless something major changes in the 7.x series, I hope Wuk Lamet gets the same treatment all the other local leaders get. Just bring her back if we have to go to her area, but otherwise forget about her.

  16. I agree with several of the top ten. I explain honey as just “Japan and their pop idols”. I don’t think it really says much beyond that. lol I do hope they try to fix Wuk Lamat. Her character has good bones, she just needs to not be the writer’s pet. Maybe make her the support character for Koana for a while.

  17. I found Wuk Lamat a bit dull at first, but the story did improve. I didn’t dislike her, but I didn’t love her either. However, the final fight against Sphene, where she suddenly appeared, really bothered me. It felt unnecessary and left a sour taste, and it turned an okay story into a disappointment for me. This is trusting because I enjoyed many other parts of Dawntrail, so I hope the MSQ patches improve things because there’s great potential. However, if I get another series of "Talk to Wuk Lamat." quests, I might lose my mind.

  18. On the one hand I'm surprised it was so close. On the other, don't have much fondness for any of the new characters.
I hear Erenville's JP voice actor is very good. Probably why he voiced the narrations.

  19. Me during Shadowbringers: Oh shit, Gaia jumped into the fight!

Me during Endwalker: Oh shit, Zenos became the stage for the final fight!

Me during Dawntrail: Okay, is there just some giant glass bubble that people can just pop in to jump in, cuz why did Wuk do that?

  20. Guys, you dont understand, guys, she needs to have the peas, and the fist clench, and the peas, guys, its how she ass pull her way and get stronger and stronger to beat everyone guys.

Whats that, training arc?? No, no she just needs to yell at the enemy and talk about peas, and clench her fist in the main scene over and over and her power is over 9000, no you dont understand guys, to be fair, you need to have an IQ of 120 to understand the story of dawntrail.

There's alot of foreshadowing and plot set up for future expac guys, doesnt matter if the writing is horseshit, and makes most people hate slogging through the msq with hate.

Whats that? Am feeling passive aggressive? Noooo, how could that be? Its not like all the hardwork, sweat, and tears of the former writers didnt just get flushed down the toilet for me and literally killed any interest I had for the story, and any interest in the game for the future..

  21. Overall I think 7.0 has the same problem 4.0 had, the story felt like it should have been across two expansions rather then one. Oh, and both expansions have main characters that people are split on and that we are very unlikely to see going forward.
Perhaps it is time that the devs come to terms with the fact that Daichi Hiroi should not be lead writing any more expansions since it seems to result in characters being sent to the farm up north.

  22. Does Erenville have an Icelandic accent in the JP dub? My japanese certainly isn't good enough to discern a difference. Edit: It also makes sense that Wuk Lamat wouldn't be a major recurring character given how the story plays out. I think regardless of how popular she was it makes more sense for her to play a role like Raubahn or Aymeric where they show up for certain moments but aren't out adventuring with us. Whereas Erenville certainly could continue to return freely.
