Chris, it sounds like you want to run Squadron dungeons when you're doing it just to level and not to help teach others. If your preferred leveling method is dungeons "back to back to back", squadron dungeons are perfect for that as you have your pick of many of the dungeons and, even on dps jobs, you get instant pops. You also get all the loot, which is helpful for gearing other jobs at the same time.
In a squadron dungeon you control the pace and everything about the run. The only thing you can't do is afk for over 10 minutes as it will remove you from the dungeon and you'll fail the run. The one thing I wish it did a bit better was tanking trash. If I'm not the tank then I micromanage the tank npc as it's not good at picking up groups of trash. Some trash mobs will run past the tank to attack me or the healer, so you'll want to put the "Engage" button on your bar and use it liberally to force the tank to pick them up.
I'd prefer new jobs start at level 1 rather than high level so you get time to fine tune your ability use by playing rather than high level abilities handed to you right off the bat never getting to know what half your low level abilities do. I actually would like going back to low level areas and grinding out on leves and replaying dungeons etc. The only downside would be a lack of tanks and healers for new dps jobs.
I'm still on the Dragonsong war in the MSQ, but I already have two jobs at level 80 just from daily roulettes, relic grinding and beast tribe quests. Taking it slow is definitely the best way for me.

I'd love to do what Chris is doing, but I'm at 60 on DRK, WAR, and GNB, and nowhere close von anything else. I'm gonna try and get most other classes to 30, and have the three tanks I like at 80 and DRG at 70 by END release
Recently got all my DoW caught up to 47 and I did a very mixed job approach to the dungeon grind. I was surprised to find the ugh feeling from repeating a dungeon again dissapeared when going in as a new job. I would for ex. hard queue as Monk, some gear gained makes next queue as DRG a little better. Then rotate all until Monk again (or start with another, having choice is great). That second trip with a higher level and good gear makes it feel different enough for me to have fun. Each dungeon I outgrew allowed me to desynth or get seals to keep inventory wars at bay. I kept it to 2 runs per class often by mixing in Hunt Logs and Fates and Leves. Roulette was saved for MCH because no logs. Squadron dungeons were also often faster than real groups too, you just gotta learn how to run with them on certain mechanics. Now I'm comfortable where I just need a roulette or couple Aurum Vale runs and any class can see their 50 finale whenever I want. MSQ roulette on my other sub 80 jobs means my gear 50-80 is all taken care of already.
2.7 years playing the game and I didn’t know you could skip getting sent to satasha in leveling roulette thanks for the info
I'm new to the game (and F2P), but with the bonus XP, it's pretty easy to build up an alt close in level.
Healers are Hella easy to dungeon grind, it's almost an instant lobby
1. list everything that gives you exp
2. exclude those you don't like at all
3. do the rest, a bit of everything, don't get burned out by just doing one thing
I played msq start to finish on my main WHM. I was 80 when (starting) shadowbringers, couldn't help but finish story. But now I enjoy leveling my alt jobs by roulettes each day and going back to unlock dungeons and raids I missed along the way. Neir/Alexander/potd as some examples.
Awesome sauce here!! I just started the game a week ago.. im loving it all.. the art is wonderful too in the game etc..
Job potion.
I always forget to level alts
@Worktogame — you are aware that if there are only certain dungeons you want to run, you can select all of those dungeons in the tab, and it'll mini-roulette just those dungeons.
The "Roulette" tab is just an 'easy button' for doing this on a broader scale.
Do you use the same character for all your jobs?
When green/blue gear is no longer needed turn it in for Company Seals via Grand Company Supply and Provisioning turn ins. Also, recommend getting all crafters to at least lvl 30 so you can obtain items using desynthesis on unneeded gear. Items obtained from desynthis can be sold on the Market Board/vendor or used for personal crafting.
I did something stupid. I started as a gladiator and started a rogue class. Should I have just made an alt instead?
Duty Roulette FTW: especially MSQ and Leveling 16. Those give the best XP per time invested. I usually do the others as well if I can, for variety.
Dancer is so OP in those low level dutys. The get third aoe at like 15 or something. While it IS dull as you just hit like 2 buttons is still really good.
I am brand new. F2P player less than a week but have 18 hours invested with road to 70 and the brand new ring from lvl 15 thanks to looking up the best exp buffs but no other items. And I keep outlevleinf my story quests I’m almost to 60 on 4 jobs and my msq I have all jobs unlocked and I keep leveling jobs though instances on fresh toons and truly think I’ll have all classes to 60 before I finish msq oh I did have a mentor play with me for a few hours so I focused on getting everyone to 20 right now everyone is sitting over 20 with a few tradeskills over 30 so I can destroy these greens. How ever I really dislike the invisible walls the rails and the no swimming.. well Iv yet to be able to get my head underwater. Oh and Gil having to blow my girl so Iv really only found tradeskills as a gill dump
I unlocked just one leve area and never looked at them again ever. xD
I do same
By far the worst thing in ffxiv is the banking system. Just give us a bank Square, no one is going to buy your slaves.
Now. Palace of the Dead -> Heaven On High -> roulette/dungeons
Then (ARR release before they nerfed it) Fate Grinding. While there was a level of tedium to it the social aspect there was enjoyable.
At the moment all my class/Job is at 61+ and only have 4 at max lvl and i can never make on what i want to levle the moste
guud tips
I hate healing. I use the MSQ to level healers, because I don't need to do anything. I love doing trials and dungeons but doing them as a DPS with roulette is impossible thanks to que times so I really struggle leveling DPS. The only savior is manipulating the challenge log for big bursts of extra XP.
Syncs into Sastasha
wtf is cure 1
I leveled similar classes at the same time; tanks all got leveled together so I could start deleting old equipment once all of them outleveled it.
16-50 was Roulettes and Command Missions
50-61 was Roulettes, Command Missions, beast tribes and hunts (while waiting for roulettes)
61-70 was roulettes, beast tribes/hunts (while waiting for roulettes) and Heaven on High.
At 70, roulettes and pixie beast tribe and hunts to hit 71, then Bozja to 80
I hit 4 classes to 80. Dark knight, warrior, dragoon and soon Samurai. Dragoon as a main class and the rest PURELY my dailys, all of them.
The comments in the top right corner were pretty spoiler heavy, jsyk
I'm tackling all of the magic jobs right now. Since they share so much gear, it's been a lot easier to manage what gear I actually need. I have all of them except blue mage past 30! Healer classes are almost all 50 too! I feel so accomplished and organized haha
Nice…..
Brian: doing dungeons non-stop sucks so bad
Chris(smirking): you think that lol
